Vadskærs Marines

Hey Gents,

Thanks for the comments - glad you like my Deathwing build. I think I'll go with your suggestion Reinhard, and pick one of the helmets with a rounded face plate - the Missus actually found a nice on amongst the Grey Knight Terminator heads I purchased from eBay.

You'll have to wait a bit to see some paint on him though - I'm painting one of the Ravenwing bikers from Dark Vengeance now, just to do something else than Terminators.

Really nice pre HH termie thumbsup.gif

If you are still interested in seeing a bigger pic of the Belial look in the oratorium on Moderator Isiahs website The Dark Fortress.

Stobz

Thanks for the link Stobz, the full size picture of Belial by Michael is gorgeous! However, the armor is very white'ish (what little part you can see amongst the myriad of trappings).

I think that a very white'ish look, as on the painting, will result in a pale mini, without much depth. I've had this problem before, if I just paint it Bleached Bone and highlight it up with 1:1 Bleached Bone & Skull White and pure Skull White.

Ideas or comments.....?

Absolutely amazing models!

Did you ever paint that slightly oversized marine with the lion head rearing behind the model's head? The limited edition you bought from an Italian seller on eBay?

@ Shi An De: Thanks a bunch! No, I never finished that limited edition. I wasn't too keen on the look/feel of it at that time, so it's sitting some where in the ever growing to-do box ;-)

Alright, update tomorrow (Wednesday): Deathwing Terminator, and Ravenwing biker coming up. Stay tuned - they're awesome!

Hey Gents,

As promised here's my two newest finished models. I've gone DA-berzerk, and really find the new releases to be smashing in both sculpt, dynamism and mood.

First off here's one of the three Ravenwing bikers from Dark Vengeance. I hadn't painted a biker in years, so it was a blast to do one again, although I'd liked to keep him in more sub-assemblies for ease of painting. I tried a new recipe for the chest-wings, where I opted for a base of Calthan Brown instead of my normal Khemri Brown. The result is a more brownish/light tone to the wings, and not the darker, harsher color separation that comes from Khemri Brown. I think it mimics the 'Eavy Metal colors quite well.

The base is from Scibor and painted to complement and distinguish the biker.

Enjoy!

Aaaand off we go again, this time to the hallowed Death Wing!

Here's a mountain of hurt from the new Death Wing box - I combined parts not caring to distinguish between regular terminators and knights, as I won't be using these for gaming. They just need to look awesome and i think the kits durability is really in how many ways you can pose and combine all the great parts. I've bought two boxes, so I can really go to town with combining parts.

For me, the best part of this model is the face, where, in my own opinion, I painted my best face to date! I followed the 'Eavy Metal recipe published in White Dwarf for the Blood Angels Space Hulk Terminators.

Have at it guys! :-)

Vadskær, they look awesome! Your color composition and depth are fantastic. I really don't think there is anything I can see to improve or that detracts. Perhaps drill out or put a black dot on the tail pipes of that bike? Really dig the lining along all the armor plates on the latest Terminator.

Have to echo Stobz here: :tu:

Yeesh. Bang on jobs there. I never could quite get that Deathwing look down tongue.png And the attention to fine detail on the bike is downright precise thumbsup.gif

The one thing that irks me is the bike's mufflers. Ending in just a solid stub of metal seems...not right. Personally, I always drill them out.

Thanks a lot for your kind words Chaps!

Yes, I agree on the exhausts/mufflers on the bike....but my drilling tools are currently at a friends, so I'd rather wait until I get them back instead of doing something shifty with a small hand-held drill and a knife.

@ Papa Lazarou: I only saved the pages with the 'Eavy Metal Masterclass, and it doesn't say anything about issue number on the pages. I could perhaps PM you a scan of it? Is that against GW IP rights?

/vadskær

No need for scans, it's still hosted on the GW website (although there's no link to it any more)

e; fantastic work as always Vadskær. I love the crisp black on your ravenwing.
