Mmmmuuuucccchhhh better with the back pack, proportions are normal again :)

Oh, and it's my personal opinion, you don't have to say anything, feel free to ignore it at a whim.

It was always there man. You just never saw the before paint pictures.

Opinions are what matter to me. And besides, you'd probably not be the only one with the same opinion, like here. ;) If people don't get what they want, they don't come back. :) I've learned the hard way.

Pre-note...I'm not a movie critic, and I think almost every movie I see is good. :)

So after Daemon-Forge's suggestion, I was able to find DA MOVIE on D.me, and I finally gave it a watch tonight. I think it was overall, a good movie. For a Warhammer movie, it was pretty well made. Decent CGI (for their budget I would assume) and a decent plot... The twist was well played, sort of saw it coming, sort of didn't. Good call Abnett and crew.

I guess the only thing I'd wish more from the movie would be "And we shall know no fear" could have been a bit more...enthusiastic.

I'll watch it again. I'd recommend you see it. :) Twice.

Edit: Oh, and the quickness that the Ultras died was sad...getting shot in the shoulder..come on...Space marine my butt. :) But then again, the Chaos were almost just as easy to kill.

Bah! So what if they don't come back? I make miniatures regardless of whether the world gives approval for me to! Besides, the backapck was already there, so the opinion was based on lack of information anyways :P

Ah, don't listen to me, I made a thread that failed so what do I know... Regardless, keep making miniatures to your taste, I know I like them

Thanks Magicman. I've been working on him for some time now...

Dark Apostle Thirst: I really like comments. :)So I try and get my peeps to come back.

Sookay. Here we go. Back to the drawing boards with the Big'un. I'm looking for some ideas to populate the top of my Land Raider with, and I'm not sure of what to do. I've gone with the obvious hatches...but I'm thinking that 4 more on top is a bit too many (not including the 2 on the frontal section).

Thats the old Dark Angels Chronus I made. I've moved on, but I will be placing a Chronus look-a-like somewhere on my model, and I liked him in the back, where he'd be deaf from missile launch. I know for sure I want a Chronus and possibly a stormbolter or something. (I was initially thinking multimelta...but with 4 lascannons, I think I'm set with the heavy weapons)

I could take one of the hatches off, and leave the back with 3.

Haven't started the panel details yet...

Pretty much any advice will be taken. I won't be making any promises though.

So I tried to make this pose as natural as possible.

Its still blue tacked, but I don't know how much I like it...I'll wait for some C&C and opinions.

Rock, Scissors, Paper anyone?

Okie dokie guys, I'm going to go with only 2 hatches so I don't go overboard.

"Rock, paper, grenade..Ha!"

"Rock, paper, auspex...oh crap..now what?"

Thanks Soultang. :D

Alright, I had planned on staying up all night, since I normally don't go to bed until 2AM, and I was hoping to be able to fall asleep at a reasonable time at my girls tomorrow...but its now 5AM, and I'm sleepy...rats.. I kind of burnt myself out on the modeling in one go...

But I did manage to paint majority of my vindicators. I got the blue done to my liking, and the black is...passable. I haven't done any details yet, but I reglued the name tags on.

I'd really like to do some freehand on the 3 siege shields, but I don't know what I want on there, and if I want them to be a story all together, or have their each individual stuffs.

And this is how I plan on laying out the blue and black on all my Rhino based variants.

I don't know where I saw it (I think on CMON), but someone had painted a really cool linebreaker squadron where they had a pattern (a wall of flame, I believe), that continued from the shield of one vindicator to the next. So when all three were put side by side, it looked pretty frikin' awesome. I searched for the picture but couldn't find it (sorry), but it would be awesome if you did something like that.

I could take one of the hatches off, and leave the back with 3.

Have a look at this web site Clicky

Its where I started and its got some great advice on scratch built models which is pretty much what you are doing with the top of that land raider.

Personally Id add some armour with rivets around, stick some square vents on there too. On that site there are some pretty good examples of mesh under a plasticard frame that make great vents on vehicles.

Thanks Mick.

Hendrik: Thanks for the idea. Someone once gave me that a few months ago, using the fans on the back of vindicators, but I don't have the space in the back for them. The only place that they would fit would be over the tracks, which wouldn't exactly make sense... I'd have liked to use the idea, but I couldn't squeeze it in.

Verpine: Thanks for the idea. I was going to originally paint an aquila across the front. But that wasn't going to be enough for me. See below for my next idea...

UltraRich: Thanks for the link, I think it'll be quite helpful. The only thing I can't do at this stage is the vents you suggest. In order to do mesh and stuff, you need to be able to sink it into the top layer of plasticard. Mine is unfortunately already glued on...

I will definitely be adding rivets, tons of rivets. And some panel lines.

I've been working on some freehand..sort of.

I haven't made much progress. Originally, I was going to do an Imperial Eagle like the vindicators from a past GW article.

http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh347/shortsonfire81/VindisChaos.jpg

But its not snazzy enough. So I decided to try a battle scene, notably from my story, "War for Atalcina" which was my marines combined with PDF and Ultramarines against a splinter of Hive Fleet Leviathan.

http://i544.photobucket.com/albums/hh347/shortsonfire81/IMG_1530.jpg

You can see a little bit of art above the shields. Thats supposed to be a Hive Tyrant standing on an exploded Stormlord. And a Vindicator (which I should have put behind the blocky thing) that is supposed to be a wall, with marines on it... yeah...art isn't my strong point...

I'll try and come up with a more plausible idea...

Edit: Eagle it is.

Thanks Mick. ;)

o quickly ran into a problem with the icons that I placed on the shields, so I attempted to remove it, which came off quite easily, but left a ton of glue residue...which I didn't know how to handle, so I got out my powerdrill, and a large bored drill bit, and just chunked it off. Then placed green putty over the holes to smooth out. Didn't turn out well...

Fail.

But I started work on the Aquila anyways. I deliberated a long time on where I wanted to put the center at. I decided to offset it from the cannon after finding that the head wouldn't be big enough to span the large gap.

After 20 minutes of failure with a pencil and no marks at all on the shield, I just decided to line out with yellow paint. I plan on making this a rich orange, with yellow highlights in the end.

I think at the moment, it looks pretty good, if not too splotchy. I hope you can make out what I've done so far.

Let me know what you think please. :)

Few things that might help with a future problem! :)

1 - Dab some of the product known as Goo Gone onto the adhesive residue. If the residue is thin, it will wipe off almost immediately using a soft cloth. If it is heavy, allow the Goo Gone to sit for about 5 minutes and wipe again. This is a very effective product that removes nearly any type of adhesive residue.

You should be able to pick Goo Gone up in lots of shops/stores!

2 - Spray a bit of WD-40 household lubricant onto the residue. Allow the WD-40 to sit on the adhesive for about 10 minutes, then rub it with a soft cloth. Repeat as needed.

3 - Try rubbing nearly any type of household oil onto the adhesive. This could be baby oil, cooking oil or vegetable oil spray. Even peanut butter, because it contains oil, will take off some adhesives.

4 - Use lighter fluid, rubbing alcohol and nail polish remover to take off many adhesives, but you should test a small area of the plastic first to ensure that these stronger products will not take off the plastic's finish. Dip a Q-tip/cotton bud (whatever you prefer to call it) into the chemical and rub onto a small glued area. If it does not dull the finish of the plastic, rub the rest of the area with a cotton ball soaked in the chemical until the adhesive comes off.

Wow thanks pulse. That was a quick response.

For future problems, do these work on used super glue? Thats what had used since they were metal bits onto plastic.

And goo gone is fantastic!!

Thanks ;)

And thanks Mick. It will turn out great :) I hope...
