Black Fists Space Marines

Thanks Pulse.

Aw Termie...another good idea. :D

Well..after burning myself out on Minecraft (or so what I think) I think I may have time to rediscover my Mojo.

After 6ish hours of Minecraft (yep....and thats only today. Its been about the same for the past 4 days...) I spent a half hour on the Aquila, at 3:30 in the morning... I think I'm pleased. The wings turned out alright but not fantastic. The gap between the dozers was the hardest part, and I still have its left side to do...

The first wing on both blades were definitely the hardest...and I'm not pleased with them at all...too late to go back though!

The Defiant's (right) blade's wings will obviously start curving sooner, since the Aquila's body isn't placed exactly center. So I think if I can pull it off, it'll leave me with a nice effect. ;)

Let me know what you think.

Oh, and if you can't make heads or tails of what what line goes to....don't worry about it...I can't either. :P I tried to mark at the edges of each wing so I would know when painting time comes...

Thanks. ;)

I think the middle eagle looks a little cramped.

Maybe make the eagle smaller with half a vindicator shield being a wing on the other two, or just the top half of the eagle instead of the whole thing would look better

I leave for a few days, and you start making freehands. I need to leave more often :)

Although I'm unsure about the bright (almost neon, it seems) green, it's already painted now, and gives it a graphic feel, as though the image was projected by a, er, projector... It's painted now, and isn't bad, just not what I expected. Is green the secondary color for the Black Fists?

I'm not exactly sure of what you mean. The eagle is supposed to span across all 3 shields. Like so.

Its actually not green... :P Its just yellow over black, looks green though, I'll admit.

It will eventually be a golden yellow, if I can pull it off. The two colors of the Black Fists are blue and black. And then a mismatch of different colors for details, red, bone, yellow, green. Etc. :D Thanks for stopping by. :)

That aquila is looking really great! You managed to get the lines to match up perfectly.

Thank you! it took me so much work to get the lines to line up. I was starting to go crazy.

So I messed up SEVERAL times on the right side of the shield....took me a while to get it. And it still looks naff (hehe, I love using British slang...or whatever its considered. :))

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1538.jpg

And then I blocked it in. I blocked it in in the lightest color I had that was foundation paint: Dheneb Stone. It will eventually be a completely different color. I messed up many areas. But I didn't bother blocking them all in in black yet. I did a few around the head, but I decided to do the rest once I finish the orange final color.

The right side of the eagle is retarded looking, I know. But its the best I'll be able to do.

What do you think?

Thanks Mick.

Thanks Apostle. Up next are....

I did this coat on the same night as my last update. But I didn't work myself up to post it on here again.

Also, for my Band of Brothers competition thing. I've been working on my servitors for the month. I like the way that they've been done. I've actually put a lot more time in them than probably...my Chapter Master even. I'll be using plasticard for the servo arms, and I'll be trying to locate some bead to use as arm socket pieces. I'm using Catachan bitz (Super lucky I had those) and probably a lot of greenstuff and some plasticard. If you're wondering what the little round things are, I think they're plug in ports for the Techmarines. I am quite proud of these models...even though there isn't much done on them.

I'm also on the hunt for 2 female faces, that fit well with 40k. Preferably with a mono-tone, dumb-like look.

I'm on the hunt for some guitar wire...I might run down to the music shop tomorrow after lunch or something...

Thanks guys. :)

I acquired some guitar hero ($8 worth) and an array of plasticard 'microstrips' ($12 worth.)

And I got to work. I like what I've done so far, but its still not enough.

Hey man,

You know, I had my doubts about the aquila on the tanks, but it's actually coming together quite nicely, i think it's really just one of the heads that needs adjusting (it's a tad big I think). I think it looks good though. Congrats!

And the servitors look mighty cool aswell :tu:

Thank you all. :D

Hmmmm... Perhaps add some appropiate weapons on the end of the stumps? Wires connecting from the brain to the back to the arms?

I would, really want to actually. But the 1750 point list that I concocted for the Band of Brothers competition didn't have space for some weapons...sad... I may do it anyways, so that I can use weapons if I'd like to in a different game.

GooseDaMoose: Thanks! The entire Aquila is off on size...apparently... I'm leaving it as is though, I can't stand to retry that! Took me ages!

I've done virtually nothing these past five days. I did just close the eBay case though. So it looks like $130 coming my way, for something I didn't have to ship? I think? I'm not sure of how that works, we'll see...

Just to show that I'm not completely brain dead, from Minecraft and staying up until 5 daily...

I worked on the Trogdread today. Took a LOT of work...much cutting/filing involved with the damn solid metal core of a body I chose.

I still require shoulder joints, shinguards, and some stuff to cover up gaps and stuff.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1567.jpg

And a size comparison. The green pad and the camera battery are for base height.

Let me know what you think of what I've done to Marshmallow Dread.

Hmmm, as others have pointed out, his pose is very weak. If one arm is forawrds, the other shouldn't be.

Personally, I think it'd be awesome if he had his seismic hammer at his side, his huge flamer pointed down and to the side, with his head following the barrel, so it look's like he is contemptously roasting whatever poor infantry happens to be in his way.

His pose is just like every other dreadnought, since the arms don't really give you that much movement range. He can't have one arm down, since one is a fixed barrel, and the other I assembled to resemble a normal DCCW.

His flamer can't point in any direction other than up or down, the torso has very limited movement range, and his head, like every other dreadnought is mounted directly to his torso.

The mighty trog dread looks hunched over, something unbefitting to his mightiness.

I second the Dark Apostles comments for the Stay-Puffed Marshmallow Man.

Congrats on the Ebay deal!

Once I add the correct pieces, if I can ever find them, the shoulders should match up with the arms, hopefully.

These look AWHSOME O.o

Thanks Roesor. ;)

I've got my arse into gear, and started working on the servitors. I just need to maybe add a couple more wires, and the eye lenses. They're pretty janky all together, but I think they'll do fine with the rest of my army! ^_^

I managed to sell my Masterclass book to my LGS. :) But...the cheapo only gave me $25 store credit, so I decided to the hell with it, and bought a Venerable Dread and 12 more 30mm bases.

And... Tyrus arrived. :D :D :D

So I think the Trogdread actually looks like something now. :D

Hopefully I can get some painting done in a week... Hopefully the final 'progressful' stint will be soon.

Hey man, funny, just checked right before bed, and you posted 2 minutes before.

I've always wanted to make one too, I think its the coolest out of that article that GW made.

It is in my skillset to move his legs...yes...but I'm not sure if it'll look like you'd imagine it. I could make it look like he's walking forward, but not stomping. I have to paint him up by the 28th, so I'll decide what I want to do tomorrow. bedtime. :)

Thanks Termie! :D
