Black Fists Space Marines

Thanks guys! :cuss

Just went through the whole thread, and I'm very impressed. I can't wait to see how the Prometheus turns out.

Actually, its not a Prometheus, I wish I had one of those though...

And, heres the good one...so I don't have an airbrush (yet), and I'm thinking of getting one. But I'm testing out some paint transitions for a couple of models that will hopefully be arriving from Forgeworld soon.

If I show you this picture: (I'm still working on the right technique)

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1026.jpg

Of course, they need to be shortened by maybe 2-3 inches. But I found this awesome store that sells ALL plastics! Its called Taplastic. They sell sheets in 2meter x 3meter sizes, and they can cut it down for you, around $7 (£3.5ish), which is MUCH better than the Evergreen (American plasticard distributer) that sell sheets of 4inches x 10inches for $4 (£2ish)

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1024.jpg

For the bases, I'm not exactly sure of what I want to do yet. I don't want something that will detract from the models themselves...I'd like to do with a Rhino what I did with my Land Raider, though I think it might be a big large for the base itself. And without stealing the idea from Digits (who managed to coin the idea before) I was thinking of using a spare dreadnought, though I don't know how I'd do it.

I was thinking maybe Orks or something on the base, but I wouldn't know what army to show, since I don't have a true "enemy"

If I had some extra Cities of Death pieces, I could do that. But...I sold them in my fit of rage! Grr. Perhaps I'll just have to get my hands on another set...

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/Crashed_Land_Raider_1_by_shortsonfire79-1.jpghttp://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/PA270002-1.jpg

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1028.jpg

I've been pushing Digits to finish his flyer, because I'd like to see how he painted it, and if I'd want to follow suit. I'm not sure if I want the traditional gray top, light gray bottom, or if I want to go something different like a two-toned tan. While thinking of this, I've also been thinking of plane names, and pilot names as well. If I'd want to paint on kill markings (though never played, so would technically have no kills either...) and if I'd want to paint some nose art on...

I like these three. Especially the Ace Maker one. I like F-BOMB too, but my planes aren't bombers, so perhaps if I ever get a Marauder, I'll put it on there instead.

Throwing out some idea for my flying bases. Showing a tussle between orks and my space marine chapter.

And I'm working on this guy, I can't quite get it right, his arms are to short, and they don't go at the angle I want them to.

Thanks guys =D

i just think he need somthing else on the front of the torso area as to me it look a little to well empty. but thats just me....really nice convo there mate

a few studs would do it i think.

also is that a maxmini head? looks really nice, iv got a few my self but not that model of it. wish i got me one of them now

Of course of course. Got some studs on him. Use the ones off of a Rhino (probably shouldn't have, but oh well) and put six on the torso, and 18 on his left leg.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1099.jpg

Hopefully thats enough to add to him, as I've already started painting...

I've just looked at the Chapter Master pic on the previous page, do you have an ETA for when it will be painted (you said you were going to commission it?). It's a great conversion.

Hopefully soon, I'm not getting him commissioned anymore, so I've started tonight, to see how far I can really get with him. I'll be taking my time though, but I want to get him done soon.

Thanks to Marovian over on his thread, I think I know how I shall be painting the armor of my Chapter Master. Of course, I don't have the exact colors he has, so I'll have to make due with Necron Abyss, Ultramarines Blue, and Skull White and Blue Wash.

Shorts: The blue was Regal Blue as a base coat, then Enchanted Blue for the main coat. I then layered on the highlights by mixing Enchanted with Ice Blue until I was happy. I toned it all down with a couple of watered down blue washes. Worked for me and glad you liked it.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/DSCF0447.jpg

Got the base going. I like it. Basically pieced out the cork I wanted to use, then doused the whole thing in super glue, placed the cork, and dunked it under the sand. Coated it in Scenic Cement, and called it good. Turned out well.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1100.jpg

Some spray later, add some dinner and Glee, and I added two thin thin coats of Necron Abyss to all the blue spots. If time permits tonight, I'll read through the How to Paint Citadel Miniatures book for some shading tips, and then get along with adding a third coat maybe.

No Flash

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1103-1.jpg

EDIT POST!! =) An hours worth of shading. And 9 layers later! From Necron Abyss to Ultramarines Blue. I'll work from Ultramarines blue to a blueish Skull White in the morning.

I'm glad this got updated so I could see it. Just went through all 7 pages and there are some neat modeling ideas in here. I particularly like this guy:

I also read the other thread where you made that monstrosity of a Land Raider thing. Keep up the crazy work!

Thanks-Max-, Nice to have you around. :cuss That flamer guy was pretty fun, not sure where I got the idea.

Painted the rest of the layers on the blue, I really like the outcome. Makes me feel good about myself :) Now for the black...

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1117-1.jpg

Soaped up and scrubbed the bolts. Clipped off some of the tabs, and dry fit it as best as I could.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1114.jpg

I even dry fit one on a stick! :) These planes are much bigger than I expected. I expected large, but not THIS large! Notice: The clear stick needs cutting.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1116-1.jpg

is in order (Coined by Wulfe_Luer) It will be going on a different dread body though, if I can get the right bitzes.

And some fluff for the fluff readers. Wrote this in an hour or so during my 4 hour break at school (it sucks....thats when I get a lot of my forum browsing done. :) ) For those of you who do not know (which is probably all of you, since I haven't officially written it yet) The Abregado sector is controlled by the Black Fists. Like how Macragge and Calgar...you know... It has 3 planets orbiting one star....... I'll finish that fluff in due time.

The first born of the planet of Abregado withhold the honor of becoming pilots for the Abregadoian First Wing. Flying Thunderbolt fighters and Marauder bombers, the air force is trained for quick response to any threat that could possibly prove problematic for the planet.

The First Wing, while a faction of the Imperial Guard of Mankind responds to the Chapter Master of the Black Fists, André Cortola. They do the bidding of whatever he calls of them, and sometimes travels to other systems with contingents of space marines. Although the Black Fists deploy Thunderhawk gunships, they utilize the Wing to get air support while putting as many marines on the ground as possible.

While being solely based on the first born of any family, the Wing has both male and female personnel. Though frowned upon by the Imperial Navy, Chapter Master Cortola thinks that any person who has the ability to fly should be called ‘aviator.’

It is not uncommon to see female pilots in position of flight or squadron command in the Abregadoian Wing. In fact, the highest ranking officer is a woman by the name of Colonel Tania Wilkinson. Taking direct orders from Chapter Master Cortola, Colonel Wilkinson informs her personal command flight, who in turn notifies the other squadrons.

The entirety of the Wing travels with the Black Fists, most commonly with the First, Second, Third, or Fourth companies. If needed, majority of the Wing can be called forth to aid a certain company.

Wing rank organization goes; Colonel, Lieutenant Colonel, Major, Captain, First Lieutenant, Second Lieutenant, Chief Master Sergeant, First Sergeant, and Airman First Class.

Most commonly, the planes are equipped with hellstrike missiles, in the case that they could be used for both air to air combat, or air to ground. If the Wing knows it will be moving on to a ground attack, then it would most likely be armed with high explosive bombs.

Several pilots and gunners have been assigned to use Marauder bombers and destroyers, although these are less common on the battlefield, and more common in the Abregado sector where they can protect cities.

Thunderbolt color is a light gray with markings of dark blue and black, allegiance to the Black Fists. Names and rank are stenciled on the left side of the cockpit housing. The seal of the Wing, a black, clawed wing is stenciled on both sides of the tailfin. Pilots are allowed to name their ‘Bolts with stenciled names on the left side of the nosecone. Pride is also shown by painted kill markings, red representing ten kills, and white representing one, usually on the right side of the cockpit housing, or on the nose. Pilots are also allowed to paint nose art if it does not offend any fellow pilots.

Flight Abregado I is most commonly attached to the Black Fist First Company. Headed by Colonel Tania "Headhunter" Wilkinson herself, with her wingman Major Bruce "Lucky" Adams. Colonel Wilkinson is an octuple ace; scoring 47 known air kills over seven battlefields. Major Adams is only a septuple ace, with 32 known air kills over the same seven battlefields.

Colonel "Headhunter" Wilkinson has long, blond hair that is commonly draped over her shoulders, even in the cockpit of her Thunderbolt: "Ace Maker." The nickname "Headhunter" was coined after she scored her twentieth kill, which she claimed on her second sortie. She is fair skinned and more than well endowed. Not only was she the best pilot in the Wing, or the commander, she was also the most attractive woman that most of the pilots, both male and female, have seen.

Major Adams is quite the opposite from the Colonel, with broad shoulders and a buzzed cut head of black hair. His chiseled jaw is something that could almost be considered handsome, if he didn’t have a scar running from his forehead down to his lower left cheek. On his third sortie, his cockpit canopy was shattered by a weapon that hit frame of the windows, sending shards of glass through his mask and goggles. Any facial expression out of him is only one sided, as the nerves and muscles were torn on the scared side of his face. Adam wears the bullet that shattered his canopy around his neck like a pendant, earning his nickname as "Lucky." Flying the "Quiet Lady," he has earned himself a name known across the sector.

Been working on these puppies nonstop for the past couple of days. Not to bad with the molding issues to my surprise. A bit of extra flash on the nosecone, where the autocannons go, but it only took a little work.

Some warp issues with almost every piece though, good thing my sister has a portable water boiler that heats a half a sink full in near 3 minutes.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1127-2.jpg

And this gap, wasn't exactly sure of how to handle it, so I asked Daemon-Forge. He helped me out, and I think I can get moving with this.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1128-1.jpg

The thing that really irks me, is that when Forgeworld shipped these things, all the tiny sensor arrays broke off! (Except..3..on both planes combined...) I'm not sure if I want to make it look like they're not supposed to be there, or to replace them. Pictures that I've found online show some that have been shaved off, or are still there.

Dude, seriously, how old are you? You have some serious skills here! Your conversions are outstanding, and your painting really does justice to your models. Congrats, I plan to keep an eye on this thread and keep up with your work. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you can do with the Thunderbolts.

I'm 18, played with a lot of LEGO when I was younger. Had lots of creative juices flowin around.

For the bolts, you'll be able to find the paint in progress here, once I start. Thunderbolt Thanks for following. :) Always makes me happy to have someone else checking out my work.

Reminder here guys: Power Armor. Starting to drift away here with this Thunderbolt stuff (Imperial Navy).

My bad, Finished them anyways ;) So I'll stop postin those.

Worked on the black, I was going to call it done, but I want to make it a little bit brighter.

I just went through this thread, and will be watching it.

I know it's a little late to comment on the whips, but even though I'm going to steal the whip idea, I still think you did it poorly. They were just way too long -_- It was disapointing to see one of such talent make such crappy whips.

That, and although it may simply be because of pictoral stuff, but the maxmini head seems gigantic compared to the rest of the model.

On to the good stuff... You have excellent painting and skills and that extra sized Land Raider is fantastic! I think that you could work some magic with custom symbols, too, if you can create casts like that. Make some personal heraldry for those characters! Your painting skills can definitely handle them, and it's nice to see well converted minis painted right. If you end up finishing them... but that's ok, I would much rather convert then paint as well, so I can definitely relate to that...

Speaking of which, I am also stealing your twin bolt pistol/stormbolter conversion. That was almost as sick as your twin flamer conversion ;)

Thanks for watchin. ;) The whips will eventually be redone, when I get back into modeling stage, and get around to that vanguard squad again. Really huge. It would also make gameplay really hard. The maxmini head is no bigger on Culln than any other marine you see, I think it might be the angle of the photos, although, when I look at it now, the head seems a bit taller than normal.

If I had a set symbol, which..sadly I don't yet :P I could and would make casts of them. (A lot of my painted stuff is really casted ;) ) I'll personalize every marine once I finish the Company. It takes me long enough to paint 2 guys, let alone all the crazy details....

Converting is fun. Painting is tedious...

So new base concept, courtesy of Daemon_Forge.

I had to quickly screenshot Youtube to get the reference. ;)

Yes, he will be all on a hill, which is why hes on a large glob of putty. Though, I think I may tone down the banner a lot.. hahaha, its huge!

Thanks Mick.

That base could use a bit more spray... I've also found that if you cut the top off of the corkboard with an exacto then it gives a rough but still mostly flat area for the guy to stand on...

http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w20/fred40k2002/Necrons%20for%20Games%20Day/BadRobot001.jpg

Thank you Dean for the advice. I think I shall be hand painting it black this time, since most of the stuff I needed sprayed (dirt) got a nice coating. I roughed up the cork like you said, and you're right, it does look better. And the small piece between his legs isn't the same height as the others, so it fits a bit better.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1157.jpg

Also, touched up the gray some, I think it looks better now.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1154.jpg

And while doing that, I was highlighting the shoulderpads, and just decided "screw it" I'm going to paint them white. So I did. :D All the way from black, without the chunkiness that I usually get from painting white, over white!! SO I'm very pleased. :)

I had a huge burst of epiphany-ness during math today I think I have a lot of my Chapter Banner designed now. I like all of it, except the huge gap at the bottom, not sure of what to put there.

Let me know what you think There will be other colors, and I'll work on designing a background during Chemistry later.

This was taken with my computer's webcam since I'm sitting in the school library.

http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/Photoon2010-10-28at1314.jpg

On the left tabbard are a fist and a small crux. On the right is an Imperial Eagle. On the shoulder shield directly to the left of the fist is a Crux Terminatus. On the right side of the fist is a Bolter. On the left shield at the bottom, the top right square has a sun in it, for the Legio Astorum for aiding in a battle (or something) from IA6. (I'll read the fluff when I get home, I just liked the sun icon).

Colors will be added when I paint it up, what do you all think?

Thanks to your idea Mick, I now have a passable banner concept.

And after about 15 coats of dheneb stone, I now have this.

And I know its not PA (sorry Mr. Kurgan) but I really need some feedback on the hair...right now it looks like a Mink coat!!!
