Iron Snakes Battleforce WIP

Recommended Posts

here is a link to a glowing eyes tutorial on CMON its probably the best one I have seen specificaly dealing marines, there are a couple of techniques that are a little hard to grasp if you are not 100% confident with blending but that goes for OSL in general though. To make it look convincing the blends have to be very well executed and you have limited space to work in. Another thing to remember is that most of the light would be on the upper brow on the underside overhanging the eye and only light reflected by this would be reflected on to the lower portion of the helmet under the eye.

Hope this is of use. :D

I think your snakes would really benefit from a Badab Black wash, it'll make them pop a lot more.

That and you missed a mold line on the shoulder shield for the normal termie pictured. ;)

Hi fella,

Yeah, I normally do give them a wash, these ones are just at basecoat stage.

When I've finished the basecoats and given them a wash, they should look more like this. :jaw:

I though I'd nailed all of the mold lines, I'll double check them tonight, damned beasties!

Cheers fella, I'm going to be trying this technique out on my libby, though I guess the effect will be similar highlighting the eye sockets and brow.

Hey fella,

Thanks, I think Sioka is doing a great job. I'm getting six different designs in a similar vein, and one of each design.

I terms of pricing, I'm paying a lot in the context of Space Marine torso bits, but very little in the context of bespoke sculpture. :P

I think the prices I've been given are very fair for the standard of work I'm receiving, if you want a quote you'd best drop Sioka a DM.

That torso.... Is epic.

What are you gonna use them for? Honor Guard for a Chapter Master? Captains? Or just sergeants?

EDIT: if only I had more monies, I'd get some stuff done by him, I'm totally convinced of his sculpting capabilities. But alas, those pesky monies, how they hate me so.

This project has come a long way since I last saw it! It was like at page 4 back then!

Looks awesome. I think you went the right way with the drop pods in the end as per AngryJohnny's suggestion.

For the power and force weapons, how about different coloured electrical arcs all over them? Blue for the power weapon (a la everything GW ever does) and green or red for the force weapon?

The Ironclad looks wicked. I'd recommend taking a brass or copper colour, or maybe even a lighter silver, like Mithril Silver or Chainmail, and picking out the bolts/hinges.

Otherwise, :)

Yeah, it got cast aside for a bit but the Snakes are back in force!

The army list as it stands is:

HQs:

Chaplain

Captain (RB/SS)

Librarian

Elites:

Sternguard x 6 (HF, CP, PF)

Terminators x 5

Troops:

Tactical x 10 (PC, FL, PW)

Tactical x 10 (ML, FL, PW)

Scounts x 5 (HB)

Fast Attack:

Assault x 5 (PF, ME)

Land Speeder (HF, MM)

I've also got the Drop Pod, Rhino and a MOTF on bike w/beamer.

No idea what that comes to in points, I should really try and list it up sometime!

So officially I'm an LPC fail, I managed to nearly get them finished, the only bit that wasn't done was the chapter badges:

Hey fellas, this thread is for an army which I'm very sorry to report never made it to completion!

I do still have some of the models, but most of them were 'recycled' for my Imperial Fists project.

The Iron Snakes are still my favourite official SM chapter though. :)

I wish I could have seen the pictures, half are down because the image hosting doesn't work, but I love Iron snakes and from the Blood Angels pics you're very good. I love the Iron Snakes fluff, would do an army myself if i wasn't tied to Iron Warriors.
