Rise of the Imperium (formely Rise of the Emperor)

It's nice, but it's a bit too blunt for Eldar. They don't call the Mon-Keigh bastards, and I'm fairly certain they don't snarl. Have you read Fulgrim? In the part in which they meet him, they speek very strangely and are vague in answers, even when the Astartes open fire on them, they keep their cooll because they saw it coming.
I have Fulgrim but not read it yet. Hmm could be blunt but certain Eldar(younger ones) are not as far gone along the paths so could be deemed blunt, irrational. The Prince see's a chance to strike at the heart of one of their greatest enemies, the farseer thinks that some/all of their gods are returning and that their race will once again blaze through the stars; don't ya think they may act a little blunt/rash?
Yriel is/was an Eldar prince that was a little bit rekcless, yes he was dishonoured but still remained rekcless. My prince is suggesting a reckless attack as he is relatively young and see's an oppurtunity but the more calm and older farseer explains why the attack shouldn't go ahead. On the whole the Eldar are calm, collected and a big mystery but there are exceptions to the rules.

“I feel Ynnead forming. I can feel his presence; even now he grows in the warp. She-Who-Thirsts grip is loosening on us. Our rebirth draws near.” the Farseer spoke, his voice as smooth as glass.

“What do we do?” came a reply.

“We wait” the Farseer replied, his voice now stern as wraith bone.

“Even now I feel the power of Khaela Mensha Khaine flow through me. Do you feel it too?” he asked.

The gathered Eldar all nodded.

“Shall I make the sacrifice now? To summon the Avatar of Khaine? I will lead an assault through the web way myself and show those bastard Mon-Keigh why we are the superior race!” the Eldar Prince roared in defiance.

“No, such hasty and rash decisions by one so young.” remarked the Farseer. “The Mon-Keigh Seer, the one they call ’The Emperor of Mankind’ has returned. His power is strong. So strong, even now I can feel his power. Like a fierce star burning at its zenith compared to a tiny candle; his power eclipses all.” the Farseer exclaimed.

“So we are doomed to die at the hands of the Mon-Keigh and the abominations of the Adeptus Astartes? Snarled the Eldar Prince.

“Calm down. We will wait; the Eldar pantheon returns.”

“What do you mean, the pantheon returns?” a Warlock asked, “What does the path of fate have installed for our race?”

The Farseer stood up; as was the norm for his race he stood tall and slender. He wore robes of white with intricate patterns of glowing runes upon it. In his right hand he clutched a gnarled wraith bone staff with a crimson red gem sat atop. In his left hand he had several runes stones, they were glowing a violent magenta. Gingerly he cast the rune stones into the air, for what seemed like aeons they turned over in the air. With the weight of the Eldar race the rune stones bounced as they hit the floor; an expression of horror and confusion filled his face.

“What is it? What does fate reveal to you?”

“I see death and bloodshed on a never before seen scale. An eternal hunger returns, the Ancient enemy awakens, their legions stir. The beings known as the “Old Ones” return to their long lost kin. The Ancient enemy and the great Devourer seek to consume us; the future is blurred, concealed even. I see Kaela Mensha Khaine reunited, I see Isha broken free from the Garden of Plagues by Vaul and Kurnous returns from his Great Hunt. Asuryan the head of the Pantheon returns with them all; we will be one with our gods again”

“Well then let us rejoice! Our Empire will flourish once again! The Prince exclaimed.

“No” the Farseer solemnly shook his head, “This is no time for celebrations. This is a dire future indeed. This is the Rhana Dandra”

The gathered Eldar collectively gasped.

“This is a future we cannot avoid, all paths lead to this.” the Farseer continued. “I am puzzled though, for our entire existence we believed the Rhana Dandra to be the final battle against Chaos; I cannot see Eldar clashing with Chaos. Even the gods we despise and fear will aid us, for the Ancient enemy seeks to destroy them too. Even the bestial Orks will band together to fight against the both the Ancient enemy and Great Devourer.

Like a cooking pot over a fire, does the existence of our race and that of the others hang over an abyss from which there is no return.” he grimly explained.

A deathly silince filled the Spirit chamber, the Prince would get his wish granted. The Eldar race would go to war; a war of survival that surpassed all others.

Hope thats good enough.

A little teaser. May finish the chapter tonight depending on your(Skirax's) views. ;)

Magnus was sat upon the Golden Throne, warp energies flowed through him like a raging river. The remnants of his legion, the Thousand Sons stood around him on the raised platform on which the command interface of the Golden Throne sat. Although the Emperor had managed to save the rest of his brother’s legions, his couldn’t be. The ‘Rubric of Ahriman' had turned the non-psykers into mindless automatons, only thirty of his legion survived. Although the addition of the former Blood Ravens chapter swelled the ‘Thousand Sons’ ranks, Magnus missed his former legionnaires.

“We’re ready to give our lives to save you if need be sire” Ahriman said, bowing low before the sated Magnus.

There was a conflicting look of calm and effort on Magnus’s face as he kept a giant warp portal from consuming Terra in the throne room.

“You question my powers? You question the Emperors belief in me to be able to protect Him and his work?” retorted Magnus.

“Of course not” Ahriman refuted.

Magnus nodded.

The story is shaping up nicely calgar101! I'm still enjoying reading your posts and am now looking forward to hearing about Magnus.

Aside from the minor spelling and grammatical issues it's a fun read. But I find it hard to believe that the various chapters would so readily cast aside their colors and standards and take up that of their founding legion. I understand that their Primarch is back, but perhaps the various chapters would hold onto their identity, and specialty. All while still following their Primarchs.

And Keeper, I know it took a while, but I had to find what I said to calgar101 about the very same issue, because the same thought ran through my mind:

"I would move the squad markings and numbers to one of the legs, move the Chapter Symbol to the shoulder that had the squad markings and put the big ol' Ultra on their other shoulder." They could then keep their old standards and chapter symbol, it becomes equivalent to company markings.

As for incorporating the Chapters into the Legion, each Chapter becomes whatever the Ultra's called 1,000 marine formations during the Great Crusade (probably called them Chapters). In that case the Chapter-Masters stay Chapter Masters and now just have to report to their Primarch...which the Chapter-Masters probably prefer.

I'm sure the rest of the Legions (the old loyalist ones that had successors) would adopt a similar marking scheme...except maybe the ones that never had successors like the SW and Sallies.

The Pre-Heresy legions were broken down either into Companies, Grand Companies or Chapters. I think Grand Company was exclusive to the Iron Warriors and Chapters exclusive to the Ultramarines. Companies i think varied in size depending on the Legion as if i remember correctly Lokens company was 300 strong?

Brother Captain Ming thats a good idea the shifting of the symbols etc. Each Chapter Master retains his rank as the Ultramarines legion is broken down into chapters and maybe each chapter still retains its 10 companies. However the colours and symbols really don't affect the story, they could be running around with a giant chicken for a symbol

Yriel is/was an Eldar prince that was a little bit rekcless, yes he was dishonoured but still remained rekcless. He was reckless in his tactics, not emotions. However, he was not totally reckless, he annihilated a chaos fleet without the single loss of a eldar ship. Reckless behaviour is uncontrolled emotions that ignore other consequences, no matter how dire.

Your chapters are shaping up nicely. A few more xeno chapters would be nice to build up momentum.

thanks
