fantastic work, really envious of the gs skills.

Do you build up layer by layer, or put down a base and then shape it?

enjoy painting in the shade.

Well I do a bit of both...I guess. i build up from the wire armature, building up bigger shapes and musculature. Then i put a final layer over that. like one big one to seal and smooth that surface. thats what I do for fleash.

For armor i put a big blob of Gs on and make if very smooth and roughly the shape of what I want, then once that dries i use really soft green stuff and a color shaper to make a smooth edge that's flush with the big shape. finally i add metal bands or logos on top of that.

for hair i basically make a big shape that's hair like, complete with girls and any motion. then i wait till it dries and put the texture over that.

that's all i can really explain without pictures. maybe I'll do a demo sometime.

so i have 2 more Sisters of the Fang done, both with storm shields. i'll put picks up tomorrow of them.

i also, played my two league games for this month.

the first game was against red scorpions, and we played the game with the objectives in your deployment zones. he deployed most of his forces (two tac squads and a librarian with termiarmor and a s shield) on his objective, which was in a building. the building was flanked on one side by a furious dreadnought and on the other by a vindicator siege hate.

i just slapped my girls as closed to them as my deployment zone would allow, and waded through the seriously annoying barrage of the vindicator into his troops. although many sisters of the fang fell to the bolters and siege shells the fighting squad was able to make it unmolested into the tac squad on the 1st floor. the first round i struck down 7 marines without losing a single termie, and the marines fled. using my consoladation i made it into the 2nd floor where a fresh tactical squad and librarian were waiting. they fired and then assaulted, i finished off 8 of them, and they too fled. i was able to concolidate again. forcing them to be within 6" during his turn, meaning they couldn't ATSKNF and fled the table (haha).

but the game went on for 2 more turns, allowing the still running dread and seige tank to reduce my girlminators down to a single girl, alone the game ending with her locked in combat with the dread. so 1 contested objective and an even 3 kill points between us left the game a complete draw. dang.

second game, against the feared sisters of battle. i was worried focused and effective fire would be lighting me up as i attempted to capture the center building in a house rules mission. But, my opponent only had 10 sisters in a rhino, an inquisitor with 3 gun servitiors whom had heavy bolters, an exosist battle tank and a unit of 10 stormtroopers in a valkrie.

unfortunately the first turn of the game was night fight, followed by a poor round of shooting from my opponent's sisters of battle, and then they got charged.after dispatching the sisters, my fighting squad rushed like a HATE-o-CANE tword the enemy inquisitor destroying his squad and the exorsist tank in a single round of combat. then finally out of the sunset the valkrye charged tword the objective, but it was too late. the game ended i had the center building and took 4 kill points, and my opponent hand no kill points. i really think he suffered from a lot of bad luck. I was actually quite jealous of how stylish his list was but, it was a sound victory.

next week is a 5 round tourney to pit all the 800pt armies against each other to see who's the best. i am still trying to get off work, oh and get all my girls painted.

more pics tomorrow, and my list of kill points, and names for all the sisters of the fang :D

I recommend you to watch these 3 videos, it was very instructive to me.

I liked his technique, and decided to adapt it to my Blood Angels.

*snip concept pics*

Enjoy the videos !

Oh, and I like your models :P

See, this I can dig. I mean, yeah, it's got ladyparts showing, but it fits with the GW aesthetic. Hell, it looks pretty close to the Penitent Engine, all things considered. The "stripper terminator" look just doesn't mesh with the 40K universe very well in my opinion- it'd be a different matter if you were doing character designs for a fanservice mecha anime, but 40K has a rather more gothic feel to it. It's like putting a 1/35 tank next to an IG tank, but in reverse.

In terms of painting, I think the wolf pelt could really use some drybrush or something, as it looks rather flat right now. The cape looks pretty decent- particularly the freehand- but could also use a bit of shading/highlighting to bring out the folds. Her shoulder insignia definitely needs some touching up, as the "lightning bolt" looks awfully sloppy.

The dynamic pose of that last model shielding with the powerfist is great! If you hadn't already gotten to the painting stage I'd have suggested drilling some bullet holes in, and maybe greenstuffing some debris/shrapnel/rebounding flames from it to give a little more story to the pose.

This thread has in the course of a half an hour become a favorite of mine, and I'm loving the project. Please keep it up!

My only criticism would be the flatness of the hair. If you shaded up a little more starkly it might give it a fuller look, rather than a flat one. Might just be your style?

Cheers from D.C. :)

Two new wolf gaurd as promised. They aren't completely done yet, but they are pretty well close. The storm shield on the on on the right turned out really well. along with the NMM bolter and crux. I think I'm acutally getting better with NMm. I even think the one on the right is my favorite paintjob so far :)

More updates tomorrow, more wolf girls.

Ok, well I am going to come clean and admit that I am not totally convinced by the premise, however the execution is great. You have great green stuff skills, on the last set of models I particularly like the wolf and moon on the shield.

Paintwise I particularly like the red and yellow details, they contrast very nicely with the gritty greys.

I look forward to seeing more of what you dream up.

Cheers, ID

Thanks for the feed back. I'm still struggling to not hate painting that grey. The third model is looking the best out of them all but it's still not as good as I would like.

But today I am designing a new unit for the lady wolves. (I'm not sure when they will fall into the escalation league) I'm not sure either when they will be done (if ever).

But I worked up a pretty good idea, so later I'll be posting some new concept art, including some for Loganna Grimgrrl.

Just keep watching.

Here's some concept art of my "wolf scouts" weather or not I will actually make and take these are beyond my ability for future sight. right now I have a tourney for my escalation league on saturday, so I will be making painting my focus this week. So I can finish the terminators for the tourney. ;)

But the concepts for these wolf scouts have gone so well today that I've decided to post them up, and maybe make a 5 girl squad. I was very inspired by eskimo, and north western native american garb when it came to the snow gear.

originally I wanted them to just be naked blood covered ladies with knives and only wolf pelts tied to them. So while crouching they would look like wolves.

But I really like the "utilitarian" nature of space marine scouts. And I can vividly remember an awesome artwork in the 3rd edition space wolf book of an awesome wolf scout with shotgun.

Also as far as a unit entry wolf scouts rock pretty hard.

I like space marine chapters with "veteran" scouts, and I also like the idea of stoic wordless space wolves, since most of time they flipping out and yelling their heads off. :P

But here's some pictures.

I started in the bottom right with a guy wolf scout, and basically just dressed him how I wanted my versions to look, but it was basically just to get me in the scout mood. Then I worked clockwise, on the fullbody girl scout, and then started doing some portrait studies.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd126/ginocoolowski/Woofz/wolfscouts1.jpg

You can see that the top left picture here is the inspiration for the masks on the 2nd page, and the final designs. I liked how the double fur collars looked with a hood. And I had placed some wolf teeth in the hood for good measure.

Which quickly reminded me of thatched tribal hooded masks.

http://i220.photobucket.com/albums/dd126/ginocoolowski/Woofz/wolfscouts2.jpg

I like imagining them sitting in a snow storm weapons ready to take down their objective, or coming up from undisturbed snow dunes to catch unwary enemies. Cool stuff.

Now, for another little sketch of Loganna Grimgrrl. Now these are some preliminary drawings, so I'm not sure about everything yet... except her sweet mohawk/ponytails.

Bringing back some old school pawed space wolf boots. :P

Well I'm going to bed, but I am first going to put these up.

I'm not sure they are the best pictures (actually, i'm pretty sure they aren't).

But another 5 girls (well two are still WIP) down. 7 More to go until saturday.

Gonna wake up early and hit 'em hard, before and after class.

I think they are coming a long nicely.

I think I'm getting better at NMM by huge bounds. But I'm still only half where I want to be with the grey. I've been trying to "over" highlight in places, and it seems to be working well, created more depth and just variation than before. Again the red is the best color on these, but the gold and silvers are getting really good.

More tomorrow. For now sleep.

Well I've been slaving over a hot paintbrush all day, and this is what I've came up with.

I've finished all but 4 wolf girls, and the rune priest. So that leaves them for tomorrow, and I can hopefully get them done for saturday.

They are based as you can see but I haven't spent anytime painting their bases yet.

I took some MUCH Better pictures of all the new wolf girls so you could check them out.

Let me know what you think! ;) :)

Here are some glamor shots of the NMM assault cannon and some shoulder icons.

I think they weapons, specifically storm shields and power weapons turned out REALLY nice.

I also specifically like the style of brush strokes in a lot of places, it's like they are all a painting! :P

But that's what I think, what do you think?

:D

Comments concerns, questions. Horoscopes even welcome.

The one I'm not keen on is the "schoolgirl-esque" one. It just doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of your face in my opinion.

Apart from her, good work on an interesting and controversial topic. Plus your sculpting skills are much, much better than mine. kudos for hard work, though next time why not buy an army for a league/tournament (forgotten what you said!)? That way it'll be quicker! /jk

Alright, 'fess up. Who gave Sailor Mars that shiner and set her on the war path?

well have of her face and chest is bionic, so she's a t-800 in TDA.

I realize that her outfit is "WAY TOO FAR" but.....I don't know. It's my most heinous creation yet.

I can't really explain why, I just felt like people may have accepted the rest of my army in all but I made this model

as a response to terminatorinhell's own terminator girl, which he made too look just like mine.

I guess you could count her as being from an even further universe. LOL

The model came out pretty well but as funny/awesome as it is, this is a mark that will never fade from my soul.

Actually in her first battle she blew up an exorcist so she's in 2nd place for overall victory points earned.

So she'll be a contender for becoming the wolf lord in the last month of the league.

Speaking of which I need to get those points and names up. But I have to go to morning meetings now.

More Painted Models tonight. And I'll probably post some of the "Origin Comic" for my girls later this week. :)

Horo is a harvest god from a Novel, Manga and Anime called Spice and Wolf. Seeing as her true form is a wolf the size of a house, and her human form has a wolf's ears and tail, she is often associated with the Space Wolves on /tg/. Yes B&C, I am a 4channer, but before you bash me; the avatar should have told you that already.

They certainly are a wonderful sight in all their painted glory. I think your painting has done your sculpting justice. I also reall like the concept sketches you have posted. Loganna is totally going to rock. Do you have any plans to make some Fenrisian wolves to go into battle with your deadly ladies? Maybe a "Cammy wolfborn," Riding a cyber-wolf. That would really be a sight to behold.
