Lexington
Ghalmek is the current HQ (eugh) of the Word Bearers, Sicarus is where Lorgar was found and the where most of the original Legionares came from. Ah, not quite. Lorgar was found on the world of Colchis, which was later destroyed by the Ultramarines. Sicarus is the Word Bearers' home in the Eye, while the Daemon Forge of Ghalmek is a secondary base located in the Maelstrom, under the command of the Word Bearers' top mustache-twirler, Kor Phaeron. Supreme Overlord
under the command of the Word Bearers' top mustache-twirler, Kor Phaeron. This gave me the hilarious image of Kor Phaeron with a big French moustache. Though I think moustaches are more of an Imperial Guard thing, we prefer tattoos and crab claw hands. Does anyone actually know any words from the Book of Lorgar? I haven't seen anything from the Book in any fluff I've read.

Rik Riorik
I've just decided the other day that I am getting into the hobby again and getting that Word Bearers project off the ground that I always wanted to do. Started a wee blog which will help keep me focused. And I quite like assembling all my stuff about my Word Bearers in one place as well. Not got any pictures up yet since I've barely started, although I did about half an hour of painting today. Word Bearers are the schizznazz. fallenbourne
My brothers in service to the great Lorgar I give you my Anointed. Army based off of the anointed from the Word Bearers trilogy. Built using Chaos Termis, Chaos Knights, and possessed bits (Sorry about some of the pics, I need to get a light box. Also this is built using the Space Wolves codex so its legal to play) Kol Badar http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151081_md-Kol%20Badar.JPG Marduk http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151083_md-Marduk%202.JPG Warmonger http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/8/27/134127_md-warmonger%20right.JPG Icon Bearer with SS/ChF http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151084_md-Icon%20Bearer%201.JPG PF/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151101_md-.JPG TH/SS http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151102_md-.JPG PW/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151108_md-.JPG TH/SS http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151109_md-.JPG FW/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151091_md-.JPG FW/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151092_md-.JPG WC/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151093_md-.JPG SS/ChF http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151094_md-.JPG ChF/AC http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151096_md-.JPG HF/ChF http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151098_md-.JPG PF/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151099_md-.JPG PF/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151100_md-.JPG WC/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151088_md-.JPG WC/AC http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151089_md-.JPG WC/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151086_md-.JPG ChF/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151087_md-.JPG PW/SB/Cyclone http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151105_md-.JPG PW/SB http://images.dakkadakka.com/gallery/2010/10/29/151106_md-.JPG I have another 4 termis to build along with a bunch of drop pods. Rik Riorik
Those are certainly some varied bits used there for your models. A wee bit out of the (bit)box thinking :P, which isn't a bad thing. An awful lot of termies too. Will be interesting to see what it all looks like when its painted.
Cpt. Salvatore
For years I hath trod in darkness of the Warp, only light on me path being a vision, vision so fleeting and murky that it eluded me sight. And thus in me voyage, I stumbled and fell because I hath not seen the truth, I was too afraid to see it perhaps. But it always was there for me that vision. Comforting me when all my strenghts were drained and I felt that I was done for. Every time me sight gone black and me feet refused to make another step through the haze of the Warp and the voices of cruel daemons laughed at my end, that unreadable flickering light made me to go on. And evey time I rose from the mud and dirt of confusion, the Vision became a little clearer. And so I walked for many centuries, maybe for millenia whole, only the Gods may know how long I hath been lost in the dark. But one day, after I rose up, exhausted and beat again, more times than I was able to count already, I saw the golden light in it's full glory. It was a fire, no, a torch, no, a raging bonfire screaming with agony of millions and millions of tortured souls and cacophony of daemonic laughter and choir of the Blessed was encircling the flame. And in the fires of deepest hells, I saw the truth. I saw there a book. A book that was by some power I did not understood so far resisted the inferno. I steeled myself, decision forming in my head and I reached for the book. But, the fire did not burnt me. No. It was cold and calming like a melody you knew since birth and never heard it since. I grabbed the book and Pulled it out of the flames. It fit to my hand as if it was meant to be there. Instead of burn marks I had words written on my arms and after I opened the book, I realized I already know it's words. The Warp was dark no more and I was not blind anymore. I saw everything. All was clear now. I knew who I am and what I must do and where I have to go. I made a first sure step in my whole life, without doubt and regret. I found myself. And my Hate towards the Emperor who cast me to that oblivion brewed. I knew now that I have to go to Sicarus and claim what is my. I would claim the blessing of the twelve and then, I shall bring the Word to the galaxy. Word wich meant doom and retribution in fire. First time in my life, I smiled... This is first words of the Book of Hatred and Flame, written by Dark Apostle Algroth Corrath. And, it also is my sign of devotion to my second army, the Bearers of the Word, 33rd host, the Iconoclasts. I am going to finish my Blood Angels force in matter of two weeks if I procrastinate (Wich is very likely) and then it is time for me to set on the path towards 1500 pts. of heavily converted Word Bearer goodness... diabloelmo
After a short absence from wargaming, I've decided to shelve my old IG army and heed the call of the gods of Chaos. And, of course, the words of Lorgar. And thus, the 51st Host was formed. Will be starting off small, collecting to 1250 and playing some games before raising to a 1750 force. Any suggestions about theme would be quite appreciated, since this will be my first Chaos army. I'm working with the following base list: (subject to revision) DP w/ wings & warptime 3x CSM squads in rhinos 2x defilers I'd really like to add a Lord in there for larger games to represent the Dark Apostle, and was thinking of popping him a unit of berzerkers for both a bit of survivability and a LOT of killyness. Question is, would modeling and counting such a unit as the most zealous members of the host fit well into the background of the Word Bearers? Also thinking perhaps a largish unit of summoned daemons to act as a bullet-soak and to tie up dangerous units in CC What do the other Bearers of the Word think? Rik Riorik
Can't comment too much on the list since my own playing experience is well limited but it is fluffy enough and if that is of most importance to you then go for it. Me personally I want models and units in the army that I have some sort of affinity for hence me not including any of the more Legion specific troops. And about the 'zerkers I don't see why you couldn't do it. But some sort of visual reminder of them being Berzerkers would still be good.

Dark Apostle Thirst
I've found that summoned lesser daemons were always better at grabbing objectives than as a bullet shield. Of course, you could always do to units of them, which would be quite fluffy.
Cpt. Salvatore
Brothers, I am in need of advice from you. I want to name one of my squads Heralds of Hatred. And, I want every of it's five members to be named by some emotion or something that breeds Hatred. What might those things be in eyes of the Faithful? Only one i figured was "Envy". Argon
Greetings, fellow sons of Lorgar. I come with a queston. Do we know of any particular theme for the names of our brothers? I desire to start my own host, but being who I am I would like to stay true to the fluff as much as possible. I've analyzed a list with the name of every named brother, and I've noticed the use of "Ko-" as a prefix ("-" stands for a random letter) and the ending "-on". Do we know of any other themes? Is there a use of names from a particular culture? Any help would be appreciated.
Dark Apostle Thirst
Wrath, Animosity, Malice, Envy, Pride, Spite, Fury TDA Could you please give short description to each HOW they incur Hatred? Wrath - You hate tham, so they have incurred your wrath. It's actually backwards :P Animosity - you don't like anybody, and with Chaos, that means you hate everybody. Malice - Does this need to be explained? Malice is almost synomonous with hate itself. Pride - He dares compete with you!?!?!? Foul, wretched... You get the idea. Spite - see Malice. Fury - See Malice. Jaton - I can't complain, tell your friend it looks excellent, and to join and create a blog :D Argon - Hmmm... I would also reccomend the usage of 'm' and 'a', as well as 'k' (or a 'c' that make a 'k' sound). Themewise... just don't make them soft. Make the sounds harsh. Irisado
I just thought I would poke my head in here, since I am (allegedly) a Word Bearers player. My Chaos army rarely ventures onto the table these days, but I still have an interest in the background of the Word Bearers, and I'm hoping to read the Black Library trilogy as soon as I have the chance. There are some impressive looking models in this thread. Some of you are much more skilled with applying red paint than I am, and I am impressed by the look of the models in question. Brother Delias
Hello fellow legionnaires. I have recently gone to become a full convert to chaos, and am currently working on summoning the demon prince Dalfurion. The problem is, I only know very little about this once pleb of the venerable Word Bearers. I feel that should I learn more about the legion, it might help me more with knowing the history of the demon prince that I wish to find. Now, for speaking normally... Coming back into the game after a long hiatus... I prefer to have a long winded, and rather interesting story behind my army... My general to my army, Dalfurion, keeper of the Final Word, by storyline, was once a Word Bearer, though as far as legions go... I dont know too mu about the word bearers... that said, I have come to the group dedicated to the legion for research into my storyline. Thank you in advance
Darth Kados
Greetings fellow Bearers of the Word.... Darth Kados, the Arch Heresiarch, Dark Apostle of the 49th Host brings his forces to the muster! Hey, just found this while scouting t'internet and joined up. Am a long time Word Bearers player - since way back, White Dwarf 270 to be precise. the Index Astartes article hooked me and I've been true ever since. I'm currently on the second incarnation of my army - the first was painted by an over zealous 15yr old me and looked terrible! The new 49th Host is built as a Horus Heresy era army, just after Istvaan and before the Siege, so mostly normal Marine armour with (im)purity seals and writings from the Book of Lorgar and with banners bearing the Star of Chaos and LOTS of books. Anyway, good to find that I am not alone in fighting the Long War for the TRUE divinities! Death to the False Emperor!!
