Brother 'Ussell
Looking good so far, are you putting the cables on each of them? I'm wondering because some seem too smooth, we crave detail!! When do you think you will be at the painting stage? Natanael
I have been thinking about cables and stuff like that, but I've also been over the thought of keeping them quite plain, and then using paint to make them more individual and more detailed. I dont see the AL as a Legion that really does much with their armour, unlike other Legions *cough* Emperors Children or Thousand Sons *cough* :P and as such I'd like to keep them quite plain. As for the painting stage, I'll get to that as soon as I can get hold of some sand for the bases. I kinda dread that phase tough, since this will be my first try at painting anything more then TT, and I will hate myself if it doesnt turn out very well, hehe :P That is another reason for the plain, wide, areas. They are easier to get a successful blend of the colours on  But I should actually be able to start that next week, if I can just get my hands on some freaking sand. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2663819 Share on other sites

Natanael
Works for me. The orc looks great, tough the highlights seems a bit to defined. A bit more blend would make it really really good. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2665380 Share on other sites
Master Chaplain Astador
Thanks Natanael! It's a bit better blended irl. Pig Of Sparta
Howdy Folks! I've returned again ;). I'm hoping to be around more regularly now that I've got a lot of real life stuff stabilised. I also have some news that's mini (if not board) related.... As of last week I am now an official freelance painter! I don't know if any of you will have heard of Foundry Miniatures but they have seen fit to give me a 'job' painting mini's for them (I sent some mini's to them as they were looking for painters...) If you aren't familiar with them I highly recommend checking out their website Foundry Miniatures. They make 28mm scale fantasy and historical figures so it's a bit of a change from painting PA and other 40k stuff, but I think the rewards will be worth it. This is not to say that I won't be continuing to work on my own projects (indeed I have several on the go just now) and I will continue to update on them as and when I can. If anyone's interested I can (with Foundry's permission) post photos on our IBH forum of mini's as and when I complete them. So that's it for now. But I'll be around much more frequently now I hope cheers James Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2675539 Share on other sites

Lestat
Congratulations on the job James! Maybe this is a step towards worldwide acclaim and megastardom - at least in the miniature painting world anyways. As you may have guessed, I'm back too. My life and family problems have settled down for now and I've been working on several different projects - as normal! Here's links to the topics I've posted on B&C. The Grey Knights rules were the closest official rules I could find for "counts-as" - and I really didn't want the hassel of writing my own house-rules for them. I suppose I could refer to them as Gold Knights! Lestat
No - havn't seen any of the new GK models yet. I was purely trying to find a legal way of fielding a squad of Custodes without trying to write my own rules. Natanael
Well, custodes are always fun to play with. I have FINALLY got some sand AND glue, so right now I am getting the bases ready for my AL squad. That means spraypaint tonight and start painting tomorrow =D - Nat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2679729 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
Well, if these haven't been seen by the IBH, here are the few things that I've done over the past month or two even. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1770.jpg A dreadnought made out of a Thraka, and five servitors I made from plasticard and legs/torso from Catachans. And my second true scaler. http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j276/shortsonfire79/IMG_1793.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2679830 Share on other sites
Natanael
As I wrote in the other thread, I love your true scale guys. The biggerised arms work nicely, and they look smooth and nice :P Servitors are also very nice. Not a fan of the dreads head, but that is personal preference, I guess. - Natanael Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2680031 Share on other sites
GooseDaMoose
I think those servitors could use a wash Shorts :P but other than that everything looks great! I really like that true-scale; dope as balls. I'm having difficulty getting anything done due to real world stuff. A bloody theatre festival at the theatre I work; 10 days of 10+ hours worky goodness! Luckily they are now over and I will soon be rich :P I think sometime this week I'll manage to restart progress on my Sons of Malice. Thank you for reading my excuses for being lazy and have a good day! Brother 'Ussell
I'll echo the suggestion shorts. Give them some light washes to darken them up just a touch, It will make all the difference. I might even have some painting to show off today, just need to get a bit more done and then bust out the camera. I should be starting a new stabby squad for my Templars this week, I've been gathering bits for a couple of weeks now and think I might be ready, we'll see  Russ Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2681125 Share on other sites
Natanael
You're welcome, Goose ;) And Ussel - more stabby goodness :D I found out that my Black Primer was out, so I was thinking of basecoating my AL white, and build up the colours from that. You think that will work? Maybe I should try it on one of them... - Nat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2681539 Share on other sites
Brother 'Ussell
It should work, the model will just have a lighter overall tone. You can fix that with some glazes if you want to darken it up. Natanael
Yep. Started painting now. Trying a new thing, so we'll see if it turns out good or if I am just trying something that is way out of my league. Primed white, anyway. - Nat Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/205686-international-brotherhood-of-hobbyists/page/48/#findComment-2681658 Share on other sites
Natanael
Did a quick paint test on the worst of the guys.
