Always a pleasure to make someones day.

I'll definitely use that flesh/scar formula for my still in progress marines.

Looking forward to what you'll do with your vehicles, are you going to go with earlier rhino's or are you going to mix and match to go with the MM general disregard for gear just as long as it works approach?

^ This. Already looking at some older Whirlwinds and Preds, lol.

Nice, if I may make a suggestion.

Buy a couple older rhinos and predators, preferably still in the box ( always a few popping up on ebay ) and a few newer kits. Kit bash them together with a healthy dose of riveted ceremite/metal plates. That'd definitely give your force that RT/MM feel.

Thanks 1000heathens for the scout link, it helps. I am also starting a Malevolents army. Now for the ealier marks of vehicles i'm using kits from another hobbiest. Here is a link:

I find them to be very intresting and makes them to scale with the newer rhinos. But this is my opinion. I am also trying to add that Rogue Trader feel to them, so i will be adding some Fell Blades to the army. I will be mixing vehicles from all 40k versions to the army to make it stand out more. For example:

raipers, the old version thudd gun platforms, older marks of vehicles (rhino, whirlwind, ect.), and the Fell Blades.

Right now in the process of gethering the items before building, that way i don't have to stop and lose those creative juices. :)

I'm curious, just how do you see the Malevolents? What linage (primarch) do you see them coming from?

I plan on making the vets like the one in the picture from cities of death (mohawk that ends in a braid). What do you think?

I have already made some fluff for a venerable Battle Barge named, " Eternal Vigilance". This Battle Barge is the home to the chapter master. I have thought the Malevolents to be a fleet based chapter. Ones always looking for a fight. The fleet size i have come up with is 2 Battle Barges, 6 Strike Cruisers, and varible rapid strike cruisers.

I'm curious, just how do you see the Malevolents? What linage (primarch) do you see them coming from?

:P You know... last time we saw this level of ambiguity we ended up with a Thousand Sons break away chapter: Blood Ravens.

That Heavy Bolter sure looks a lot like an Iron Warriors Heavy Bolter :) ... just saying ...

I was just asking his opinion on how he saw the Malevolents. Not really looking for what GW doesn't know about them. :)

I really don't like the hazard stripes for that reason, to much like iron warriors. I plan on making the hazard stripe down the center of the helmet like the rogue trader days. Possibly hazard stripes on the shoulder pad next to the shoulder trim going up and down. Tagsta has done this with great effect in my opinion.

The Malevolents seem to have a total disdain for everyone, and arrogant as all get-out...my theory on that is they believe they are the only chapter that is still holding to the Emperor's vision of the Great Crusade, thus why they still hold to the Nikea Edict. The original Legions failed. Mortals are useless, incapable of fighting off even minor attacks, hiding behind the Astartes. I don't believe they even want to know who their gene-father is; They don't want any part of any of the Primarch's, their faults or failures. The end always justifies the means for these guys. "Allies in-between us and our foe? Open fire...perhaps the Emperor will forgive them for getting in our way." Trample the weak, hurdle the dead, man. I'm keeping the old hazard stripes (and helmet stripes, of course, lol.), but only on Sergeants and Vets. Also, Oaths of Moment on all sergeants. Granted, it's a bit of a stretch, but it's giving me a wealth of modeling opportunities.

@Obscura: Already have been cutting up some plasticard for my new model Rhino to make it look more like the older version, I'll post it later.

1000heathens, intresting out look on the Malevolents. It is one that i had not thought of. So i take it you are not using any librarians then? Do you plan to increase the number of chaplains or apothecaries in your force?

Can't wait to see your version of the rhino.

Scouts out! First one done.

If you're wondering why the scout lacks the wing on his chapter symbol, I'm running with the idea that they have to earn their wings, kinda like the White Scars scouts gotta earn their bar behind the bolt. Next marine coming along too...obviously not done yet.

And finally, the helmless marines' base is finished.

Enjoy!

Hey, even Angels of Death need to earn their wings!

The scout is really cool, is that head from the Cadian Command Squad?

And I was also wondering, I don't know if you've adressed this already but I don't think I could find anything in your thread about it; if the Marines Malevolent believe in the original ideals of the Great Crusade and keep to the Nikea Edict, do you think they reject the idea of the Emperor as the God-Emperor? Cuz wouldn't that put them under scrutiny of the Inquistion?

Ah mah bad, I might be completely wrong about this but I always thought that after the Imperial Truth started to disintigrate due to the Horus Heresy and the Lectitio Divinatus and became the official religion of the Imperium of Man that Space Marines started worshipping the Emperor aswell.

No. Chapters venerate their primarch as a god (demi-or otherwise) more than they do the emperor... even though he signs the paychecks

I'm currently reading First Heretic... seriously, wow!... I think it is SOOOO funny that the bible of the Imperial cult, and most of the religious catechisms were written by a heretic ;)

1000heathens, you stated that you saw the Malevolents as not venerating their "Primarch" so would they see the Emperor as a god? I like the idea behind the "fluff" for the scout about earning his wings. The scout turned out very good, i'll have to steal the idea. I also don't like the scout heads from the kit. Are you using Imperial guard heads on all your scouts?

The Scout looks wicked, nice one Heathen!! The head is far better than the Marine scout heads!

I like the idea of the Malevolents stubbornly carrying on the Emperors original ideas......we remain true to the Emperor and His ways!!

Next Marine...

Rhino is gonna get some love next, along with another Tac. Marine wearing Mk. I 'Thunder' Armour. It's cool man, I'm bringing it back, lol. Sick as a dog right now, so I'm moving kinda slow, but I'll post as I can.

@Brother Varen: Nope, no librarians (filthy witches, lol). Chaplains and Apothecaries will be around, just not in huge numbers. I'm imagining that the MM are acting as a fleet-based crusade chapter, and are formed more like the Black Templars crusades (minus the huge numbers, of course). Each company is self-contained, and draw vets (like Chaplains and Devs, Scouts, and such) from their own ranks. As such, I'm imagining that the 1st company doesn't get detatched to whomever needs some extra punch, instead the 1st is simply the Chapter Masters' Company, his entourage, if you will. Those vets, and the vets of the other companies, use whatever equipment they can get from the battlefield, or from piracy and raids. Each company will be short on marines, being expected to raise and train their own neophytes. Veterans and specialists are short simply because in a battered company like this, there is only so many Marines.

And no, the MM won't see the Emperor as God. A noble warrior, and the source of their strength, but not God. After all, It was the Emperor who decreed that their are no Gods, which is another reason why they look down on mortals. The morons are going against their liege's very orders. As for the Chaos 'Gods', they do accept them as a powerful psychic force, but one born of the human mind and emotions. Not gods, just uncontrolled psychic power. That might sound odd, until you take into accout the MM's all-consuming arrogance. Much like the Astartes of the Great Crusade....hope this makes sense; as sick as I am, I'm afraid I might not be thinking straight, lol. Oh, and yes, I'll be using all Imp. Guard heads for my scouts, the regular scout heads make my eyes bleed. They all look constipated!

@Everyone else: Thanks for all your comments! You guys and gals keep 'em coming, and so will I. Take care.
