Before pin washing:

After pin washing:

gallery_42238_5618_105807.jpg

and then oils and weathering, should be done in just a shake of a lambs tail.....sigh

Also working on the washes for the engines:

Which are coming along nicely, but due to the immense drying time take forever!

Cheers all!

Grizzly Bear: Thanks Brother!

Bio: Appreciated chap!

RNB: Indeedy, looking like i will mainly be using this as a weathering experiment, so is taking a while as we try new things.....

So where are we?

Here.

Still lots to do of course but underway, keep trying to remember not to "over weather" which is not as easy as it seems!

So onwards, next up, highlighting the green on the weapons.

Cheers all!

Cheers Fellas,

Quick flyby with something a little different.

I, along with just about everybody else, picked me up Battle foe Calth boxed set.

It, is, really quite good actually.

The Miniatures are a bit, well, clumpy, but they will do, they will do pig.

So what to do with them?

More Hunters?

Not a first founding legion so that wouldn't make sense.

But they are Imperial Fist successors, 3rd founding, so, "why not show where they come?" thinks I.

So, what do you build first?

The big shiny one!

gallery_42238_11535_49610.jpg

So it isn't forge world.

But it is very easily worked on!

gallery_42238_11535_49559.jpg

Bit "O" plastic rod here, sharp scalpel cuts there, for some reason my thumb always wants in on the scalpel action too but that is why we always have super glue on the desk right?

gallery_42238_11535_113031.jpg

and you can get some pretty good movement to the old thing!

gallery_42238_11535_20974.jpg

gallery_42238_11535_87559.jpg

Lots to do, but i think this is going to be a lot of fun!

Cheers All!

Evening all!

DSS7: Cheers fell!

Zxyogi: Undercover boss, been pretending to be a proper grown up!

Bio: Thanks chap, good to get back into it!

Carrick: Very kind of you! It is all just practice, the right tools, and a lot of rage. Granted mostly controlled, but often resulting in tears and a visit to eBay to buy those parts just broken!

Talking of which, let me introduce the SPAAG GEPARD40k.

Early doors, but coming together.

So the rear search radar is clearly very WIP, we need to add the ubiquitous "Space marine armour panels with cut outs", ejectors on the side of the cannon, rivets, well all the usual stuff!

as ever C&C welcome]

Cheers all!

DSS7: Cheers Fella!

rednekkboss: Spot on chap, just what i and going for and yes, I reckon you would do very well with some centurions!

Progress, as ever, is slow but like a glacier, irresistible.

gallery_42238_5618_156489.jpeg

So here we have 2 iconic space marine armour additions - cut outs and implied panels - check. in addition the later versions of the Gepard had stinger pods mounted on the cannon i really wanted to include some missiles as well as then I could not only be true the original, but also "count as" both a hunter and stalker. Side mounts were the way i wanted to go but then I realised i really wanted some ejector ports, so, many hours and experiments later, i realised that i could drill out the barrel lugs under the cannon and drop some typhoon missiles from the old bits box in. Hey presto, underslung missile pods. awesome.

Still working on the search radar, really dredging the idea pool but not come up with a satisfactory one yet so bear with. All ideas considered so don't be shy.

and lastly the 3rd space marine vehicle armour must have. Cut outs to the edge of armour plates- just because.

The back of the turret still needs some love but we have already got some cunning cheats lined put there.

Cheers all

Bio: Cheers fella, slow slow slow but yes, getting there!

Evening all, update time!

gallery_42238_5618_313333.jpeg

So Gap filling now complete, rivots up next.

Been working hard not to cut corners on this one, so the tracking radar/range finder swivels and rotates

gallery_42238_5618_311116.jpeg

The rear search radar swivels

gallery_42238_5618_307066.jpeg

and tilts, just like the original, also nice shot of the ejection ports.

gallery_42238_5618_983758.jpeg

and lastly the doors on the back of the turret have locking bolts and handles.

gallery_42238_5618_448544.jpeg

Also the two cannon are connected through the turret so they can move up and down in sync.

All in all I blame Blackadder for his awesome work on this board for adding all these, per say, unnecessary bits and bobs but it is very satisfying!

Cheers all!
