Thanks both,

@Greggles, because that thought manifest into a model would be epic.

@Rienhard, go for it!, its really easy with this kit. Both legs have been cut at the knee joint and reposed. Once I was happy with the position I wanted them in, it took me around 10 minutes to chop and prep(cut and file the rough bits and stick a strip of plasticard in as a spacer) them for the hard part. Which was getting the height and angle just right to a point I'm happy with.

Oh, still getting used to this 'like' option we have. Thanks for the likes brothers.

Edited by Eberious

I hear you on the 'like' option. I don't feel I remember to 'like' half the posts I feel that should have deserved it, just because i keep forgetting it exists.

I'll have to try reposing my next knight a bit. probably won't be anything overly noticeable

Fair enough, doing the same Knightly house ?

Lil update, as there was space for it I wanted to do a cockpit and
engine as mentioned above I've been working on the interior. Not as
perfect or flashy as others I've seen floating around the internet.
Here's mine, engine in the back and just enough room up front to get the
job done.

The driver (yet to be named) looks a little messy but
should become clear when painted. Used a mix of CW Eldar and DE bits,
trimmed down the ears and reposed the hair. Made some control
gloves/braces/whatever to use as controls for the arms(much like the
things out of the matrix, or like the loader ripley used in aliens, to
that affect anyways).

Magnets used to make the top hatch open and close, will also be a greenstuff mold of the window on the inside, cause why not.

C&C welcome as always

Already commented in the WIP section, but no reason not to here as well. Dang, I really wish I hadn't just glued the hatch shut. Kind of. I say kind of because I'm sure I wouldn't be able to pull anything even half as convincing off.

Actually love you even made sure the back has an engine and assorted technical mcguffins.

As to your question, I think I'll be doing the second knight as house Terryn too, though it's kind of tempting to do each knight from a different house as well, to really give them individuality. But having all the same house will feel more like a unified force, and I'm looking like i'll end up with 4 knights in total when FW's variants start showing up.

Andhill: Can knights qualify for BT ETL?

Thanks guys, few updates later on, arms and extra weapons I'm making and weapons swaps for aethetic reasons, I'm not overly fond of the  heavy stubbers in this kit, or the mount.

I'll try and keep it for the ETL. I will endeavour to enter and hold true my pledges this year.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.. just came across this model, this is exactly what I was looking for, as the driver/pilot. Found a few on ebay but £15 plus posting is a bit much again to have shut away inside. :(

Still, have B-day money left,....................hmmmm

ok, so I was making a few adjustments to the weapons and adding non codex ones.

Magnetised assualt cannon in home games or where agreed, normal stubber else where. May make heavy flamer to swap in.

Inferno/flame storm cannon, or twin heavy flamer covering wider area.

Haven't completely finished it.

Here's the reason for the update this evening. I was playing around with and idea to swap  the current weapon loads. Then a quick mockup of this combo just made my jaw hit the desk. What's better than a giant machine of death, ..a giant machine of death with a sword and shield..yes?

What I'll do is still carry on with the original idea but have it magnetised so I can swap parts of the base in for large boulders or a dreadnought of some kind, so the Knight takes a 'hero' pose while staring directly at us. As we know the arms can come off and on anyways, so changing  between gun and chainsword to shield and sword are easy.

The shield will be way batter then a random bit of plasticard.

Anyways, yes?, no?

C&c welcome

  • 2 weeks later...

Lil update time, was going to hold off posting the base till I was more ready but what the hell.

First up though is the inferno cannons, the direction of the last design I was doing was alright but I didn't really like it. Was a bit flat and the riveting would of looked off scale compared to the rest of the model. So. ...pics say more than words.

Base. As mentioned earlier when I found that this model had a stomp attack I had to model it in such an attack, I have lots of movment and poses in my army but nothing actually really stomping on something.

I raised the tiles up around 10-15mm using square plasticard rod to allow me to model the squished ork stomped into the ground, creating a impact crater. Don't know if that is clear in the pics.

Tell me about it, that banner is alright but hardly fitting for a model of this size or detail. Should of been more...imaginative on GW's part. Its a big kit there for needs epic banner, right?. While mines not overly epic, it fits in with my Templars banner styles.

It's just a little to boring to have used. Probably use it on a tank or as a objective maker.

Edited by Eberious

That is exactly how I felt about it.  I was planning on assembling mine without any banner at all, but now you've inspired me.  The default one looks like a static plate was just glued on like a loincoth.  Seems so out of place.
