Chaos Space Wolves - Skyrar's Dark Wolves

I think you put the shoulderpads on the wrong way.

GW's assembly gallery

They look good though.

I suspected as much as I was having trouble to fit them on the arms. I had to butcher part of the arm and clip off a bit to align it. But I wanted the blanc ones on the same side just like on my regular marines. I think it worked out well enough ...

Another small update. I got my seeker of the slain painted up.

I went with red for the color of the demon's skin for several reasons. For starters it's a color out of my scheme, and I used red to depict the demonic faces on the wolf guard backpacks. And if I run these minis as chaos space marines in the future, I believe the bloodletters would be most appropriate as lesser daemons: nurgle's green is not in my color scheme, neither is pink for slaanesh. The blue of tzeentch is in my color scheme but since space wolves are anti-"magic", I don't think it would make a lot of sense. It's unfortunate that there's not really an undivided lesser daemon model :D

I'm still working on my terminators. I got some painting done yesterday and a bit today so I hope to finish them by next week.

I painted their heads seperately and tried to get the eyes as good as I can this time. I would like some constructive comments on these...

I've made some adjustments. Unfortunately, the angle I took the photo isn't really representative of how you will be looking at the figure when it's on the tabletop. They look better when you look at them from above.

The first three terminators are finished!

I've started work on the first drop pod. I used my newly acquired airbrush to basecoat the outer parts with my blue/grey mix and the inside of the hatches with charadon granite. Now the other basecoasts are being added and some parts have already gotten the badab black wash.

I hope to get some more work done tonight on the interior parts. Then I can start assembling and highlighting (but maybe not in that order) ...

I'll post pictures when it's a bit more finished. More to come ...

Here are some pics of my progress so far on the first drop pod. I finally got the parts painted up so I can start glueing it together.

Washing the complete outer hull and keep it even wouldn't have worked so I intentionally made it streaky (but all in the same direction) and hoped it would give a weathered effect (burn marks from entering the atmosphere).

C&C welcome!

I received my custom icon moulds in the mail today and couldn't resist trying them out.

The smallest icon on a marine shoulder pad ...

The next size on a terminator shoulder pad ...

And finally the large one that I am going to put on my drop pods ...

And an image to show the size difference.

It will take some time to learn to work with the greenstuff and the moulds. for the moment I still have a lot of cleaning work after I get them out of the mould.

Since I had the green stuff going, I also had another try with the scout body ...

Most of these pictures do not do justice to how it is all looking. I'll post some new pics once I have had some paint on them.

Hey dude, I haven't posted in a while, but I've been watching and your stuff continues to look really sweet, and it's good to see someone making regular progress on their army. Those moulds from Lamenter look to be working really well.

Cheers,

Jono

With participating in the Indepenent Characters Hobby Progress Challenge and organising a tale of x gamers paint and battle competition at my FLGS which will start end of september, I am highly motivated to keep working on my army ...

I have almost finished the first drop pod. Only the weapons still need paint.

Next up are my first scouts!

I finished the first scout yesterday evening. The green stuff work is not optimal but it will have to do as I don't think I will get it cleaner short of ordering custom moulds for them. I was getting frustrated with my efforts but now that I have something I can live with, I will be able to finish the other scouts a bit faster. I hope they look nice enough when painted.

The pics are a bit dark but when I used a flash, the green stuff reflects the light too much and distorts the picture :HQ:

I hope to take the pictures of my next batch during the day ...

C&C welcome ...

Very nice work on the drop pod, hazard stripes look nice and clean! Like the GS on the scout too, although if I had to offer any kind of crit I'd have to say that the Chaos star on the shoulder could do with being a little thinner? Still, good job though!
The drop pod is awesome dude! Those new icons finish it off really well!

How did you get the hazard stripes so smooth? Masking tape?

Very good job!!!

After painting the whole part yellow, I used a piece of cereal box, cut it in the width I wanted and then cut the top off at an angle. Using this piece, I then marked off the sections with a micro pen. After that, it was just filling in with black paint. The only downside was that, as I was progressing, the micro pen started coloring the piece of cereal box. I had to wipe off the piece of cereal box on my fingers (or some cloth but I used what was available) after drawing each line, else it might rub off on the parts I wanted to keep yellow. I just needed to flip the same piece of cereal box upside down to do the other side of the hatch.
