NL's 8th [upd: 22.8.2014]

Thank you, Red Storm ;) I try do my bests, although this NL is the "lightest" and "weakest" in 4th claw right now.

By the way, I look all of the topics here about night lords, word bearers, iron warriors and even black legion (i'm on page 114 right now). Sadly, but... all, that I wanna present is already exist :( I mean, any creative ideas, such as scythes for pw, saber-tooth Nostram lion's head instead of shoulder pad and so on. Though... maybe I have something creative. Still I have problems with camera - because of that there will be no update here soon. Buuut I think, you won't be bored with next update: it'll be huge. Really huge :) and something special.

 

Well, so you don't be bored, I wanna tell a little about 8th company (Brother Garrod is already collect it, and I thinking about changing number - maybe 11th or 15th. Or leave it as it is - if he agree).

Azanael - is the only true-vet here. He battled for 9/10k years, he was captain of this company during the Horus Heresy, was condemned to be slayed someday by Kurze himself. But then took place Great treachery, Azanael fought for his and his company survival. Then M'Shen killed Primarch. Two his bodyguards (and only friends and his executioners at the same time) - were killed, the first - by the hand of loyalists, the second - by the hand of Night Lords Aspiring champ (Many years later Azanael found and killed him, and took sword of his second bodyguard as the only sign of past). For now he's hardcore, ice-cold ( :tu: ) warband leader. As example, he beat Alpha Legion and escaped his death on burning planet, prepared for extermination.

And what about his freaky name? It's the name of a demigod, demigod of nightmares, fear and hate, demigod of the first star-alliance, that Azanael (or, more likely, Morgan Rhein - that is his true name) had captured during his first mission as a captian. He took this name as a trophy - the major trophy of his life.

Gemeth - second person in my warband. The only marine, who had served Azanael for more than 1k years and was not condemned. He is sorcerer of Night Lords, but became csm only M35 or something like that. He's not so powerfull at battle, but he is cool at foreseeing (hope I write it right). I think, he's wearing termi-armor.

Ifis Inpu - our apothecary. In second generation. Condemned as many times as he killed somebody. Reckless guy, developing strong neurotoxins and battle drugs. And he create new Night Lords for us.

Candei - our techmarine. Cares for our machines and equipment, with few corrupted tech-priests.

 

What about our goal? I dunno at this point :) burning Imperium, of course... but nothing is so simple ;) ...

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen! "It's been a looong time... how had you been?"

My camera is finally back online. And that mean I got something to show you! :lol:

This time I have a looot of pictures, because while I was offline there came all of my stuff. And also I've decided to change the concept lightly: now my NLs are the followers of ancient 8th Grand Company of Night Lords Legion. They are scumbags still, but they stay a Company :)

 

First things first. I will show you what I promised last time:

Finished 'n' painted (!) 4th claw. I reworked these guys a bit - more trophies, skulls etc. I've also improved paint-scheme: now there's a bit more contrast, highlighting is much more visible, black parts aren't simple... so, there's a small differences between members - because I've painted them at the different time. Anyway, we come here for minis, aren't we? ;)

5th claw. Three of them are made of trash-bitz almost after 4th claw. One of my favorites is the sarge - he looks cooler to me than the champ of 4th claw. Sorry, but some marines aren't finished - will fix that soon... these are alpha-version yet, I get more trophies, bags and equipment to add. For now - just enjoy them (I hope you enjoy them).

First "project" - Atramentar in my army.

As I've said before, I've planned completely convert my army. And that means, my elite must look unique and special, even among special models. Odd objective, I know. But, only someone who takes absurd attempts is able to do impossible things, or something like that :) enough talking, let's get to the pics!

He's far from the ending though. I want bone-stylized artificer armor, so (after GS work) his armor will be looking like mutated termi-skeleton. And also I'm searching for some ideas about ornaments, gargoyles etc, as this armor is ancient (heresy era, or so). But anyway, what do you think about it?

 

Second "project" - characters of my army. Here's short (changed and far from complete) list of them:

- Azanael, Captain (lord with light daemon saber)

- Inpu, Chief Apothecary (zerk's sarge with fist)

- Xergo, Venerable Brother (dreadnought)

And, as the first "hero": Azanael, captain of Night Lords 8th company, Glardus Meldeth/Cursed Blade (lots of fluff behind this guy, will post it later).

As I've said earlier, I won't make just kitbash conversion. He must look unique for my collection - as its the first and the only true leader. Special unique character, so say. Thought, in game terms he's only poor 130-point Lord with Daemon Weapon... So I have to convert and to sculpt a lot of things. I have some ideas about design of his armor, which is based on Mk IV. Ideally, the miniature will be quintessence of gothic style and different mechanized atributes (wires and cables, gears, even lamps). And as for progress, here he is.

At this point I gotta lot of work to do! And I have even more to buy. I need different bits for the army, just for its look... I am far from the ending: Rhinos, second Predator (known as Thanat), Glardus Meldeth (Land Raider), bro Xergo, vets are waiting for their hour... o, yeah, and a Vindicator, which lies under my table in the box :D I also wanna collect small addition of "wrong" Night Lords - daemonic possesed LR (I didn't saw any pretty daemonic possesion-upgrade, so I wanna take an attempt), maybe Defiler (lies somewhere near the Vindicator), one daemon prince (brilliant 4th ed. miniature) is painting at this moment, also want to make second daemon prince (lots of ideas exactly about NL-stylized EPIC daemon)... Hello, Krieg Acerbus! I also wanna make Havocs with plascannons, while I am a BIG fan of plasma weapons ;) And maybe some allies, like plague marines, thousand sons, obliterators, renegades... someday.

 

P.P.S.:

Oh, and guys, I've found some green hordes, which I was collected long ago – and it's very, VERY interesting and easy to paint them again! I think, I have green fever now :eek so updates for this thread will be not so frequent, as they could be. But don't worry – they will be.

I would say that I would prefer to collect WE - if I could paint red armor good ;) WE are much more variable in term of conversion and style. So use your possibilities to the max :)

Holy freakin' crap! Very nice man, I'm quite impressed with the depth of the blue you've achieved, the quality of the lightning bolts, and the little 'tweaked' conversions you've done on all your NL's. Looking forward to seeing some more!

 

On a side note, have you opened the box of Finecast Raptors yet? How do they look?

 

EDIT: Oops, forgot to ask...I noticed you have quite a few 'condemned' astartes in your ranks (the red gauntlets). Out of curiousity, what's the fluff reason so many of them wear the red of sinners?

I love them, some of the best looking chaos marine conversions. The only thing I'm not that keen on is helmet wings, but that is more an issue of personal taste (I would only have them on squad leaders, if at all).

Well, raptors are... terrifying :D bubles, bent swords and claws and so on...

 

About fluff: Azanael is trying to hold all of his subordinates well-disciplined. So there is pretty large list of things for which marine can become 'condemned'. Nevertheless, only Azanael can 'curse' anyone. And for this, he must see violation or at least get confirmation of this violation from two other marines.

It doesn't make any sense though. Condemned marines are fighting as the others, and taking their lives is an unusual thing. Because Company has limited size, to grow new generation is hard and it takes time... also some hardened (: VERY valuable) veterans can become condemned... so it'll be dumb to waste our force :D the only difference is - no one will rescue or save them, and condemned become the worst objectives in the battle to claim.

Special shout-out for the subtle effect on Azanael's power glove. You can just see the energy field playing over it, like it's reflecting the ocean. I love everything about the model - the sculpting, the choice of bits, the pose that just radiates contempt - but that's my very favorite. This is a topic to watch. :huh:
