AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen :( !

This update will be not as large as the previous was. I'm doing it to show you that I'm alive :) anyway…

One more semi-finished marine (hurray!):

Transport for my maniacs. Two [ancient] Rhinos (well, Predators, but assembled as Rhinos) are here, one more and [ancient] Land Raider is coming. It have passed one or two months, before I've got this vehicles, and they've came a week ago, or so. At this moment I don't have much time to put in my army – that's because the progress is slow… I'm only learning how to convert corners with rivets, so I'm not as good at this as at power armor – I need a feedback, how does it look. Here are some pics:

[black stripes are the places, were corners should be converted; З - future golden parts, С (and all the others) - future dark blue areas]

Here must be picture of my dreadnought, but it isn't even assembled. So just a small concept-picture of future obliterator(s) based on GK-terminator kit.

I'll try to make another "large" update in few days :) I hope, anyone will say something about Rhinos…

DV

Niiice kneeling marine. I've seen the conversion done many times, but most people won't take a pic of it at that stage. It's a good example of just how brutal you need to be to do certain conversions.

Your Rhinos are very solid. Nothing wrong with clean lines, and it makes the conversion much more straight forward. I add lots of spikes and arrows, but they also add a ton of work. You're good with greenstuff, so remember it will save you effort when it comes to gap filling, 'turning corners' with the plastic, and doing little details that are being a pain with plastic. Rounded rivets can be tricky (rivets in general, actually) and there's really no way to get good at them without just doing it. You're doing great.

If you're having any doubts in the back of your mind, keep them quiet until you see one primed. Take your time and be sure it's finished, but once the primer goes on and unifies the colours, all doubt vanishes.

Subtle Discord

I will add arrows and spikes a bit later - as the main job will be done. At the moment I am not satisfied with rivets. They're made of micro bead which is varied in size. Because of this some rivets are 'in' corners rather than 'on' it. I need to fix it somehow...

Ahrimanjjb

I will try finish my second squad this as soon as possible.

chapter master Benji

Thanks brother :) Ave Dominus Nox.

OK ;) what's with your NL, btw?

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen :) !

Just another large update ;) it keeps me in shape. At the moment I'm starting to think that I'm learning how to build miniatures from 'level zero' and I'm still figuring out the concept of my army. After I saw 'Apocalypse Now', played 'Space Marine' until 41th level (mostly as raptor/assault marine, if anyone cares  ) and let my imagination roam a bit… I don't know what am I collecting :D actually I have a huge number of concepts and ideas to combine. Dark fallen knights, mad terrifying soldiers with their own beliefs, just marines twisted by the Chaos… with overall look of primal hunters, murders, mutants, death, ghosts... gothic style… I am crazy :) Anyway…

Do you guys remember Rhino from last update? I'm working on it and almost finished the main part of the modeling job. Some arrows and spiky bits are still on their way, but the main concept will stay almost unchanged. Also maybe some stylization like cables and tracks… I hope it looks normal at least, as it's my first attempt of work of such a kind.

5th claw. Finally, I've built last marine, icon bearer (some kind of talisman on his chest plate is an icon) and the sarge. One of the best conversions I've made so far, I think.

I believe that these are last shots of beta versions. Next station is final conversion of the squad. Then the final stop: complete version.

Meanwhile we go further. Introducing: Bro Xergo. Seemed he will be the next 'character'.

http://img408.imageshack.us/img408/8712/q101024x768.jpg

The model is reposed a bit. Minor conversion of rocket launcher, some ideas about dccw will be realized soon. He's waiting for get magnetized and for GK terminator helmet. Waiting is not the main problem though. The main problem is sculpting. I plan make slightly mutated nostram lions head on his rocket launcher, nostram lions head as some kind of hood. Also gargoyles, NL markings... gothic ornaments… This will be a real challenge for me. And it'll be awesome if I'll match it. So… 'no pain, no gain!'.

Returning to my Atramentar. Just assembled two more: Reaper Autocannon with fist and a regular combi-melta-termi. Here they are:

"Does anybody home?"

"I'll catch it!"

http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/1914/q51024x768.jpg

Pretty simple conversions. I think I need finish this trio before moving forward, 'cause I really want to paint some terminators and see the final result :)

Well, it seems to be the end of an update. Oh, wait a minute… what do I have here?.. some strange boxes…

http://img72.imageshack.us/img72/7957/pb280077800x600.jpg

what should I do with all that? We'll see next time ;)

P.S.: I'll try to do small updates frequently rather than some kind of 'JALU' seldom.

DV

The Atramentar look very nice. Really like the autocannon guy I still wanna see Azanael though! :jaw:

Sorry I missed your question Ven but I've been on leave for quite awhile and I didn't take my paints/models with me. Oh and now I need to get a new camera as well after losing my last one..... so it may be awhile. Also trying to find a good CSM book to read to inspire me when painting my own NLs. :woot:

Well Azanael's waiting for GK termi-kit too, for a sword handle actually. But I'll try to speed up and do what I can do at the mo.

I hope you get new camera faster than I repaired my own :jaw: also kind of a tip (dunno if it really works): search for inspiration in pictures - logs of other gamers, drawings. Or maybe something not really connected to Warhammer - maybe films, cultures, themes. It helps me better than any fluffy things :woot:

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen! :)

That's what I worked on for a week… Creepy painting and mad conversion.

Well, this is the last character (at the moment): Ifis Inpu II, our Chief Apothecary [count as berzerk champ]. I wanted write fluff for him, but I feel myself not good. So maybe another time...

Two skull in his right shoulder pad are the markings of two dreadnoughts he beat in one game. One of them is charged Ironclad.

Hope you like him. C&C are always welcomed.

DV

Ummm... Wow? ... No that's not it... Awesome!? ... No, not quite there... Holy :) ;) man! That kicks :(! Yep, that's it.

There's so much "What, you want some of this?" in that miniature, it's great. It looks like he's about to launch the severed Marine head as an improvised missile. That makes me giggle.

Every time you 'unlock' the knees and straighten up the legs in a conversion, it has such a profound effect on the entire feel of the miniature. There's a casual feel in the poses that really adds to how intimidating they are. Damn, I've been getting bored with the limited selection of Chaos legs, and this really inspires me to consider some more ambitious models. I should be painting, but this makes me want to build. -_-

Totally agreed !

I realy like your approach. And the Apothecarius is the cooles bad ass doctor ever.

Subtle Discord

The result is not exactly what I wanted to build actually. But I'm happy that it's still so impressive

batu

Thanks :) I'll try to keep the others this good.

Olisredan

The left one? It's from finecast Chaos Raptors kit, with minor conversion.

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen :)

A little update for my plasma-tactical squad. I finished it few minutes ago and prepared it for painting (I'll start to paint tomorrow though). Nothing interesting really I guess, so close-up pics only for specialists.

A bit more infernal than the first was, but I actually like it.

Of course, comments and criticism are always welcomed :)
