I couldnt agree more Subtle Discord. His conversions are simple, different for each model- and they add a depth of flavor that is perfectly complimented by his painting skills.

Definitely looking forward to seeing some color on those tanks of yours!

Question; what do you use to make the winged helms your marines have? I saw plasticard for the base/stub of the wing, but after that they just sprouted, fully formed and painted. : P

Thanks guys for such replies, it really motivates me to take model knife, green stuff or brush and to continue creating this battle company. Though green tides are calling for me, also family, exams...

But I want to answer questions ('cause I don't really know when the update comes, 4 or 5 things are almost ready for it though):

batu

No. I don't really like FW armor patterns. I like Mk III, IV and V though, so I can convert/sculpt parts, if I need (just like for the apothecary).

d Karma b

I use this box: 10 (!) or 12 (!!!) winged helmets are in the box, waiting for knife  Plasticard and wires are another option, but it's much more laborious than just cut the wings off helmets and glue them on the right place.

Also, 'til the end of a month I can get my hands on Azanael, I hope. I'm waiting for concept-drawings of him, so I can take a fresh look over him and so on.

Stay tuned,

DV.

The power fist is from this Chaos Lord :)

Well... a little about my force. Its almost done - I need only to build bodyguard squad. I wanted play possessed marines actually, but the force organization chart allows me take only 3 elite-choices, instead of 4. Sadly, 'cause I wanted build straight-undivided force, without either 'count as' or cult-units - we're Night Lords, after all, we don't serve Chaos and so on. I know that 'zerks are great as a retinue for a close-combat assault. But I don't really like the very meaning of 'count as', so I try to minimize it everywhere. Ugh...

Back to 'zerks. Speaking about fluff: they will be Chosen of Azanael - the best marines, which have proven themselves not only as perfect warriors, but also as good strategists and tactics, loyal team mates and subordinates and heroes of some sort. It don't means that they are good guys: no, they are the worst thing you wish to miss with on the battlefield. They kill without mercy, very cruel and bloody if it helps to strike fear into the hearts of the foes. As Azanaels Chosen they're allowed to do more things than the others - hold duels, as an example. They follow Azanael and his lieutenants into battle and will die for them.

And how will they look like? Well, I prefer some stylization, but I don't have any specific overall idea for them. Maybe samurai-theme through the prism of NL and vampires, I don't know... any ideas and advices are needed, because I plan to finish this strike force in two months. And I don't need any unnecessary stops

Well I think that's it for today. I hope you like this thread guys, because your comments and support always helps me to go move on.

Stay tuned,

DV

im really becoming a huge fan of your nightlords, they kind of remind me of the old danthedaemon models. If I were you though I wouldn't overuse the red hands, cuz I mean there's only like two marines who have it done in the entire SL series so It cant be that common...
Thats what the night lords are suppose to look like! Very impresive stuff and are those refrences's from the books? (the red gauntlets and the knives sheathed on the shin)

Missed this question before ;) well yes, but I haven't read any of Night Lords books.

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen!

Today I received good news: the last of my boxes with bitz came. Saturday I'll pick them up and after the last exam I'll continue with my force.

Also I'll show you some of my last works - three veterans (two more are missing they're parts).

i must say, your poses are just fantastic. they are really thought out well, like the guy holding the chainaxe, he really conveys a sense of weight carrying that axe and bolter. i absolutely love it. i also think drum magazines are an excellent idea, like the one on your rhino. how did you make it if ou don't mind me asking?

souldrinker1

Thanks :) about drum magazines - I've used Evergreen Scale Models tube (3/16", 4.8 mm diameter) and strips (4x12). I hope it helps you, if you wish to make drum magazines.

Tellos05

Well I started to read and have read few pages of 'Lord of the Night'... <_<

AVE DOMINUS NOX, ladies and gentlemen!

Happy New Year, DarkVen :P it's better late than never!

http://img694.imageshack.us/img694/1489/img0134800x600.jpg

Pretty quick update today, adding new gray heavy-mechanized stuff to this thread :D

First of all, my early-WIP Land Raider (showing a left turn signal):

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/9484/img0118800x600.jpg

http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/1558/img0125800x600.jpg

A little about this cart. Much earlier I wanted to convert doors myself (because I don't really like FW variant) and add extra armor... well I realized that my first LR will be the main assault vehicle for me (and my army) for a very long time, so decision was not to overload this tank (and myself) with odd works that will slow the progress. Hello everyone who reads it. Though I realized few ideas that I got - new heavy-bolter or new plates for lascannon sponsons, as an example. And lights were pure improvisation, but I'm pretty happy with it :)

Next... I have some progress to show here.

Rhino (dude, when will you finish your poor Rhinos?):

http://img854.imageshack.us/img854/3483/img0131800x600.jpg

http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/2033/img0132800x600.jpg

and bro Xergo:

http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/567/img0128640x480.jpg

This part of my army will be finished in the near future, I hope.

Pretty quick as I've said :)

Cheers,

DV

Cheers,

So yeah, I just spent forty minutes going through all four pages lookin at your models and I have two things to say: 1.) These models look bloody :): ^_^: awesomely brilliant. I really love the Apothecary and how the skull looks like it was slammed into his left shoulderpad. Gives him a brutal appearance. I simply cannot wait to see the force in its entirety. 2.) Not very important, but good job on how your english has progressed.

Your Night Lords give me faith that the Imperium will die screaming.... :)

As always, very nice. The poses and little tidbits you do to these guys is inspiring. One thing though: I'm starting to see more and more mould lines sneaking into your mini's. Might want to watch that, bro.

Keep up the awesome work, man!!! Carpe Noctum!!!

Thank you guys for the replies :) it motivates to continue painting really.

popkhorne

Well Azanael, who is the alpha-leader, is very pedantic in term of judgment. Combining old NLs 'rules' with his own new ones, it's pretty easy in 8th Company to become red-handed for a csm, who does what he want.

I've missed your question before, sorry it took that long to get an answer.

Injek

Well cutting the middle really helps to minimize problems with sculpting :)

Kol_Saresk

1) I think my army will be prepared for battle in two or three months. I'd really like finish it before May 15.

2) Thanks! :D It means much.

Tanith Ghost

Daemon Prince isn't finally assembled in painting purposes, and I don't really know how I should paint his skin. I want dark skin, like his armor, combining dark brown shadows with light-blue highlights. I need to figure that out. His not heavy-converted as my other miniatures are, so nothing to look at really. I think I'll show him when he's ready.

And what about your Night Lords ;) ?

1000heathens

Yes, I've seen mould lines after painting only :( I'll correct that with the next five.

Thanks again! I start today another five with the champ.

Cheers,

DV
