Laborious
Loving that Librarian! You've kept so much of the original model and pose it should look quite similar, and yet all the cool little touches you've added make it into something completely different! One-eye
Thank you guys for the kind comments. Â @ Firepower : it can be a pain for me too, but I try to 1/ find a template (plastic box, metal piece, etc) that has roughly the same final shape as the piece of plastic I plan to glue the brass onto. So I press it against to put it in shape before applying it to the armour. 2/ use a strong glue that does not set immediately, ie no super glue. I want to be able to reposition the brass, because small pieces are very dificult to put in place at the first try. Hope this helps. Brother Turok
This has to be one of my all time favorite armies... like the perfect mix between the Raven Guard, a Pheonix, and my love, the Pontiac Trans Am bird!  I absolutely love the blending/color you have achieved. Did you chenge your yellow recepie from your sternguard to some of your tac squad guys?  Any updates? (haven't been any in a while)  keep up the good work man! One-eye
Thanks Death_TURok ! My yellow recipe did not change since I explained it a few pages back, but as I paint differently each time (trying new techniques, etc), the final aspect may change. I'm afraid there will not be any updates before a month or two since I'm moving... to Egypt (situation a bit complicated here...). But when I will get my minis & paints, I'll get to work asap And the rumours & images about the new codex SM keep me motivated. Love the flexibility for a DIY chapter and the new minis look ace. bloodhound23
Love all your conversions. Especially loved the Executioner DW marine as well.  P.S. Where'd you get the bare head for the Terminator Libby? One-eye
@ bloodhound23 : thanks, I hope to be able to paint those DW soon. The head of the termi libby is the one of the Dark Vengeance box tac sergeant. Â @ Res Ipsa : you're not the first one referring to it, unfortunatly I've not seen this show  Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230273-phoenix-knights-expeditionary-force-1st-2nd-cie/page/11/#findComment-3423720 Share on other sites

One-eye
Finally, after a few months of inaction due to a 3200 km move to a "living" country, I managed to grap my brushes last week and begin painting the DW team. I was also able to read the new SM codex, and I'm fairly happy with that book and especially with the CT part. First I think the IF CT is fluffy and could be efficient. But also if one day I want to play my Phoenix Knights as Salamanders, Raven Guard or even Ultra CT, it will be easy to tell my adversaries considering that, even if I was not searching for it when I've begun them, they have a look that fit Sallies or RG successors. Cool Thinking at the army as a whole, Oberon will be promoted as 1st company captain, still leader of the expeditionary fleet (with CM profile for the orbital bombardment), and I will build a power armour 2nd company captain as executive officer. A Stormtalon, a stormraven, a LRC and few transports are waiting to be built. But back to the DW : here is brother-initiate Melmoth de Vanth of the Exorcists chapter. I've tried to put a lot of (discrete) details to make him very "Exorcist", with the DV librarian paulder and backpack, a BA black company torso with greenstuff horns and elements from the GK kits (relicary, parchment, lots of purity seals). Firepower
I think you may have strayed a bit too far into browns making that red. Still sexy, just a bit off on the color scale Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230273-phoenix-knights-expeditionary-force-1st-2nd-cie/page/11/#findComment-3470488 Share on other sites
One-eye
Thanks mates for the kind words ! Firepower, the IA10 show Exorcists with a dark metallic red, and you're right I'm off on the color. But I made the choices of 1/ not make an orange or pink red, just red and 2/ have the same red for all the DW team to avoid the harlequin syndrome (so that at first glance you can see they belong to a squad). Personnal choice ! Thanks for the constructive comment anyway :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/230273-phoenix-knights-expeditionary-force-1st-2nd-cie/page/11/#findComment-3470651 Share on other sites
Son of Carnelian
Man, this whole thread really knocks it out of the park. Urauloth
I'm in awe of that Exorcist. He's flawless, construction and painting-wise. Â How did you do the black armour? It's actually a dark grey, right? Freakiq
Wow, this is one the coolest armies ive seen on here. Â The colours are just so smooth and work so well together. Especially love how you shaded the yellow. One-eye
@ Sampson & Freakiq : thank you guys, i don't know if I deserve such comments but anyway thanks ! Â @ A Kvlt Ghost : actually on a black undercoat, I cover ~half the mini in a very dark grey (upper parts), then simply edge highlight in grey and finally a smaller edge highlight in light grey. A dark red glaze in the shadows to give warmth and it's done. Far simplier and quicker than my yellow ! One-eye
Many thanks NightHunters & Brother Pheidias ! I managed to paint the 2nd one this week. It might seem slow for many people but for me it's as fast as I can go, so I'm fairly happy ! Here is brother Brenus, DW brother from the Lamenters 1st company (I've changed the chapter with the input of my other half, who found the chessboard pattern nicier). Hope you like him. I'm going to the third one...
