Thanks guys.

Midnight, I started a small Black Legion force a few years back but then got sidetracked as I am prone to do. :) I plan to use my Slaanesh models from the Chaos Path To Glory and fold them into the Black Legion as well. Will update that thread when I get around to it. :tu:

Wow, it's been a while since I updated this, had a lot going on with other projects but I had my first game of 8th Edition yesterday using my beloved WE and man I love it. Berserkers are just nasty! I have finished the two newest squads and they're now primed. Today though I've been working on tweaking Malek Deimos a bit more and I've FINALLY got the head/mask how I wanted it to look. It's only taken approx 5 builds. Although if I'm counting this is probably nearer the 8th Build for Deimos himself which is kind of fitting. I also noticed that I've built this head and GW go and release some new Primaris marines with masks almost :cuss identical

And a couple of alternate loadout just messing about with theses really

Similar to his last build

I want to do something with his left shoulder pad, probably something to do with the legion badge as he has way more than enough Khorne symbols on him. Might try some brass etch out there. Or have a go at some gs moulding.

I also started work on his personal transport, still very early days this will be a vehicle befitting of the master of the 18th company.

As always, let me know what you think folks.

The new mask looks great but for one thing, I'm not sure his nose lines up quite right, like a quarter or even a tenth of a degree out of line just the tiniest bit but It leaves it looking a touch off like his mask and face are looking in ever so slightly different directions.

As for the new Primaris Reivers I wouldn't touch them your masks are so much more threatening I find them a bit comic book and lacking the sharp edges and level of detail your conversions have.

Brother Aiwas, thanks buddy, and that's the beauty of the magnets :D

Mechanist, dammit man you're right. I've been working on this for hours and can't believe I didn't notice. I'm not sure how easy it will be to fix it now but I think paint will only exaggerate the slight misalignment. Although I'm saying that on the table top it wouldn't be noticed. I'll need to weigh up my options there. :(

sorry dude. I think the scaling up to a few cm across won't help from such close in photos. Gently filing the slightly over sized side of the nose and adding the thinnest bit of GS ever to the other might get the nose balance right and remove the point of reference that causes the problem. It's hard to estimate the effect of this on the eye directions from a 2d photo though maybe add the greenstuff first and see as it's easier to remove GS than replace a shaved down bit.

I think we found the 40K version of this;

Mechanist, I'll try sticking him in the freezer, hopefully I'll be able to separate the head from the mask without damaging it. I've had a look at the model and it isn't too noticeable irl but now I know it's misaligned it's going to bug me if I don't try and fix it.

Pearson73, thanks :tu:

DSSGT, You're too kind man, thank you :tu:

Oakriver, that made me laugh way more than it probably should have :D Thabkd bud

Deimos is looking phenomenal, that head is perfect (much more sinister than the primaris version). Press molding with instant mold or oyumaru is definitely worth the try for the shoulder pad detail. If you've got any world eater shoulder pads from the FW upgrades you can press mold that and get some great detail from it. Looking forward to seeing Deimos painted up!

Vairocanum, thanks bud, I'm still trying to think of something I can use as a personal heraldry for Deimos that I can repeat somewhere on the Land raider. I'll come up with something I'm sure. In his first incarnation I had a jaw swallowing a skull on his leg grieve so I may try something similar.

Traitor, they totally did didn't they!? :D I quite like how the axe turned out as well seeing as it was thrown together without a lot of thought.

I cannot believe how long it has been since I've checked this thread out, and I'm faceplaming myself for it. Dude - IMPRESSIVE doesn't even begin to cover my glee at seeing all the stuff you've done lately. The Knight... is very cool. Also, churning out 20-odd terminators in a day is nothing short of insane. You're a machine!!!

And this....

...is nothing short of brilliant. Wow.

Also, the Land Raider looks particularly gory. Nice tracks!

Augustus, my updates on this log have been fairly sporadic this year but thank you for checking it out. And thank you for the comments on the Knight and Deimos, more on him now ;)

Malcharion, again thank you. It means a lot to get such positive feedback from guys as talented as yourself, Augustus and Sockwithaticket. :tu: ps the secret to combining all those bits is keeping an incredibly untidy desk when I'm working :p

Sockwithaticket, thanks and yeah for the time being I've actually pressed on and used a simple skull shoulder pad. I'll work on something more specific for him when I get a chance but I was really itching to paint him today so used this one as a sort of place holder. It's only tacked on.

Brother Aiwas, yeah that's what I was going with, I remember loyalist Capts back in 2nd usually had back banners with some form of heraldry, I've used this one for now but will work on something as said above.

So I had a look at redoing the head to try and straighten that nose out a little but to be honest, I decided against it as I really didn't want to damage this head and it's such a small error. I've pressed on with it as is at the moment. It may bug me a bit more in the future so don't be surprised if I do eventually attempt to fix/rebuild it but for now I feel it won't be noticed on the table top while playing so I'm willing to let it go just now.

Like I say I cracked on with painting him today and I'm fairly happy with how he's coming out. I thought I'd go for a bone look for the face mask, it still needs tidying. The brass trim is still to be finished but the red and most of the trophies are done. Still need to decide on a Tempestus Regiment.

There's so much do love about that model I don't even know where to begin. I love the weapon setups, the sword arm is especially clever with that horn part. I love the mask and the shoulder part. Screams khorne more than any terminator ever, without the bunny ears:)

One minor criticism is that the mask looks a bit indistinct from the face in the first picture, that might just be the angle though, and the lack of depth when taken straight on.

Anyways, best version of this character yet, and absolutly among the best chaos lords I've seen

Hushrong, thanks bud.

Eldrick, thanks buddy, I should add the chsinmail and skulls attached to it were still wet in those pics. It will get a wash and a dry brush asap :tu:

Elduderino, thanks man, I did have a set of bunny ears on his armour taken from one of the Varanguard helmets but it just didn't feel right. Glad you like. As for the mask I think that had a lot to do with the lighting washing the picture out face on.

Mechanist, thanks man and like I say when looking at the model irl it really isn't that noticeable. Looking at it zoomed in on a laptop screen it sticks out quite a bit. As I'll mostly be using my natural eye I'll let it go for now. :) I may still revisit it but only when I have a spare head in case I mess it up.
