I feed on, and revel in, all of the ideas, I really do. I've had so many great seeds for ideas planted by everyone who is willing to contribute. Feel free to say what's on your mind for the record. Every now-and-then I remember there was a good idea buried back in a thread and go digging for it. :smile.:

Let me knock a few more of the things off the top of my temptation list, and it won't feel quite so daunting to add some more to the bottom. Anyone know any 'safe' schemes to 'aquire' $20-30,000 for a high resolution rapid prototyper? Think of it as an investment to silence the voices from the Warp telling me to build and save my sanity. Maybe I could actually keep up with more of the ideas. I kid, of course, but a Mechanicus can dream.

Coming from the 1/35 scale models I try to stay as far as possible to the vehicules to preserve my sanity :)

well, personnaly, I think that modular kits as you design are great (even maybe a business idea that could generate the funds for your prototyper). I think you should consider also that these kits could be used for other such as xenos or alien cults.

I know many players would buy a Limo for an alien cult if they could find any. Imagine all the green skins modeller cutting strange shapes to convert an Imperial tank...

I think you should also extend just for Chaos your range to motos (I find them as ugly as "paradise" being a chaos modeler).

I saw modelers using your kits to "chaos"tize some centurions turning them into oblis. So a kit would be nice. A small chaos star icon, modular kit that can be used on smaller surfaces would please many or a trim kit.

I love urban futuristic bases. A kit that gaves me the opportunity to customize or assemble my 25mm base as I wish would be great. I'm talking about textured, round, half or full plates, steps, mechanical grounds, grids, that can be assemble in 1/4, 1/2 or 3/4 of a round base would be great. I know that bases already exist but I'd like to be able to customize mines with a perfectly round cut that would save me a lot of time,

So smaller scale = less material used = more kits produced for you

I would have to be careful about exactly which (if any) iconography I use in the designs, but the sky is the limit to what themes I can pursue. My brain is swirling with ideas for so many different themes, nothing is really out of the question. Something as simple as accurate curved lines really does provide a lot of opportunity.

Of course, using the =I= itself is propably best avoided. But I think swirly/extravagant versions of your already begun Loyalist trim would be liked by Sororitas/Inquisition/Grey Knights players.

Not that I want to put any more ideas or workload on you ;)

I just remember seeing this thread when it started, wow I've missed a lot. Not sure why I haven't seen it lately. Really love the upgrade kits you have done, along with the rest of your works. Might take a leap of faith and trust overseas shipping(not you) to get some of your stuff if my chaos temptation takes off.

Subtle Discord, I seriously recommend you starting a Kick-Starter Campaign for your resin 40K vehicle add-ons. You can be sure you'll raise that $30K in no time and you could use the money raised to buy new and better machinery. I'd support the crap out of it. :tu:

Actually, with the Chaos Forum united as it has been this past ETL, and the Call of Chaos coming around - it'd be hard not to see this as the perfect timing and opportunity to start it. I'd not only support the kickstarter with a contribution, but I'd also highly recommend others to do the same.

oh subtle you just need to hire a minion to man the casting prosess and promote the dark works.

i would even let you cast some of my crations as long as i get some duplicates, like my obliterators or my chaos defiler( and inbeen told imperial knight count as) upgrade

even have some prototype sonic weapons, im jist not happy with my press moulds and i domt have the room equipment or knowhow to cast in resin.

maybe we should do some teamwork and get our armys built, could also lend you the baneblade tracks to

messure off if you like.

then the temptaion will become too great and you go into a warhammer frenzy of happynesssssss

I'd be down for two Stormraven extension kits. The Chapterhouse ones are lame and why reinvent your wheel? :)

I do sorely miss the access I used to have to a huge Zund cutter at work. Oh, the things I made with that don't compare though and the Zing seems much better suited to smaller intricate parts. I might have to hit you up on trying out some parts I had planned...

Seriously, I would back a kickstarter for at least 2 storm eagle kits and a land raider kit.  If you made things like the modular dozer blade kit you mentioned a while ago, I'd back it for even more.

Wow, thanks for the vote of confidence guys. I swear, these boards are going to either be my salvation or my undoing. I post updates to clones of Legion Rising in a few other corners of the interwebs,  (B&C is the oldest, however) and I get great comments and feedback from all over, but there's something different about B&C. The community here is just something... more. Sometimes I have to remember to be careful what I say, or you wonderful freaks will start to dare me to try it.

I'd have to be living under a rock not to know about Kick-Starter, and not to have considered it. It's definitely a very real possibility, but not just yet, for a few reasons. First, I think I need to round out my skills and improve processes if I were to start something of that scope; I've got a lot going for me, but there's still tons I need to fill in the gaps. I don't think I have everything I need to do right by that many bakers on that scale. Second, it's a bigger can of worms than it might seem; to fulfill that kind of commitment will require much more than just a prototyper. It is central, but with that much investment to produce for, it would require increased casting ability and/or outsourcing. Labour and even space would also have to be a consideration at that point as well. Which brings me to the third that sorta' ties back to the first; this is looking like something that will require a business plan, maybe a lawyer and accountant/bookkeeper, and... wow, where did all these worms come from?

Trust me, I've thought of it, and there are several of the whispers from the Warp trying to convince me to do it, (and they keep getting louder) but I think I need to have a better foundation before I start. in the end I suspect that it might only be a matter of time. Meanwhile, I'll keep the studio on a slow burn and add to the future Kick-Start portfolio by making what I can at my current scope and scale.

Totally understandable. I just want you to be happy (that's actually a lie - I want all of your products and I'm afraid you'll run out of stock again). But I also know how much fun making money off of something you love doing creatively can be and I really wish the same feeling of gratification unto you. :tu: So keep studying and you´ll most assuredly end up producing awesome stuff. And hopefully more awesome 40K Chaos add-ons. ;)

I think it's clear to everyone here that this man is obsessed with quality, to his credit. It's this commitment that makes the work stand out in a way that's really tough for a regular hobbyist to achieve. He uses professional processes and tools and makes stuff that look a lot more like real production pieces than anything most of us are used to. That being said, it's not easy to scale that up without losing something. You have to be exceptionally careful and mindful of doing it the right way. Let's all take a moment to thank him for sticking with his commitment instead of just cranking stuff out to make some easy cash. :D

Keep it up, brother. You're a credit to this board and the hobby itself.

What's a ... rock ? :D

B&C community is great !!!

Not just this, but it's scratch building. I'm getting fairly handy with the greenstuff, but scratch building is a completely different beast.

We are several friends from Sweden getting ready to place an order from you before the end of the month. Why? Because your work is :cuss ing Fantabulous! We've never seen the like! I'm working on a Thousand Sons force myself and NEED these vehicle kits!

But those Land Raider dozerblades? When can we get those?

  • 2 weeks later...

A bit of insomnia to fuel a late-night sneak peek of the 'Raider on the bench; another round of rivets and some final cleanup and it will be ready for the RTV rubber. Everything is very loosely fit with just a few bits of poster tack for the photos, it looks good here but will be even better once it's glued down in final resin form.
