Thank you guys, I have had a blast painting him! I am looking forward to doing some more B)

@Majkhel - the veins are a nod to the book the Devastation of Baal. If you haven’t read it...

...the big red boys are released from the Tower of Amareo; after years of the horrors of what was inside the the tower being kept away from us, the audience. Great moment for me a long term Blood Angel fan. Also the description of Centaur Jewel, leader of the tragic Knights of Blood. When a battle brother doesn’t fall in battle after being inducted into the Death Company, I imagine them to get angrier and redder the longer the ‘live’....)

As such, my Death Company from now on will have varying degrees of it. Notice to I have also extended the red around his eyes only slightly and only really noticeable to me!

Cheers :)

That Death Co. marine came out great! A good balance of horror and gore and cool distinct skin tone that you do; along with the highly distinctive instantly readable black and red scheme. Looking forward to more! Edited by Yosef Hausakluif

Cheers :smile.:

That's a delicious idea! It was clear for me that the skin tone you've chosen is noticeably darker which translates to the maxed-out RAGE levels really well. Looking forward to the next guys all the more!

I did read DoB and come back to it occasionally. It's such a great source of inspirations :)

Many thanks guys, I appreciate it :tu:

@Majkhel - it’s a very good book, I have a lot of live for the Knights of Blood too - I really enjoyed this book :) I did paint his face to look ‘older’ as if is full of wrinkles and character. I think of him as an older marine crossing the rubicon and then succumbing to the Black Rage as his ages system gives in :D

@Master Umbra - thanks, I am not quite sure I have it down - I am tempted to run a thin blue glaze over them to take the edge off.

@deathspectresgt - thanks bro! They are an army I will always come back to even if I rake a sabbatical. They are always waiting to climb out of their sarcophagi!!

Loads of work still to do, but here is where I am up to with my Redemptor -

Planning on more work to the Helbrute, trophies to the Redemptor as well as battle damage a banner and maybe even candles atop the chassis.

It’s my not-so-easy build Redemptor!

Strange to see a mouth with jagged teeth on the Redemptor. I presume this is a callback to the shark mouths decals on 1st (2nd?) Edition Dreadnoughts. Is the winged blood drop meant to represent a blindfold for the beast the Redemptor is? It's otherwise difficult to reconcile the different aesthetic elements.

Thanks for the comment Bjorn :tu: Yeah the teeth are a nod to the Jaws of Doom; the pilot is going to be fluffed out as part of the squad mortally wounded and interred in the sarcophagus. The teeth themselves are placed over where the front can open revealing the inner part of the chassis. Legend has it that there is a man sized blender underneath to allow the consumption of particularly tasty looking enemies of the Emperor. Nomnom. As for the the winged blood drop icon? I guess it could be his nose? lol The vision slit above will be painted in a bright green with osl so hopefully it should work.

Also, did somebody mention the Jaws of Doom? Here is another, this time an Assault Intercessor -

gallery_46632_13392_64509.jpeg

Fluff wise with the rise of Primaris I couldn’t bring myself for to put the Jaws to bed as the are iconic for the Flesh Eaters, so I am breaking up the squad and sprinkling them through the various squads with modified Mk X suits. I feel it would make more impact in a less is more kind of way dotted about rather than just one squad.

Cheers!

There HAS to be a Beakie in any proper assault squad

A word of advise: do not glue him onto the base until you finish painting the legs as getting a brush between them and that enormous holster is pretty difficult.
Also I really like how your Redemptor is progressing.

Many thanks for the comments guys, glad you like! Still a long way to go with the Redemptor yet though, so I I will paint up the Intercessor in the meantime as I need a third troop choice :tu:

@Yosef - I am pretty sure it is from one of the Age of Sigmar Flesh Eater Courts kits, but I don’t know exactly which one!

Thanks and thanks!

And also dig the idea of having Jaws Of Doom models interspersed throughout your army. Almost like a warriors transition as the Red Thirst starts to truly progress but before the Black Rage sets in. Maybe the prev injury is a sort of catalyst of sorts!

I think Brother Dallo has the right of it re- the femurs :tu:

As for the Jaws, I am kind of viewing them more as a veteran thing, ike they have to earn them but it’s a different honour than a promotion to the first company - kinda lets me dot them about a bit and keep things interesting :)

Work has begun on my Chapter Master, Commander Isiah! Being ‘The Boss‘, I will have to really go to town on him -

gallery_46632_13392_95644.jpeg

Very early days, but happy so far. Head and Axe are place holders (weapons will be magnetized to all him to run as Astorath, Sanguinor or Dante)

Re the head, I am still looking for one suitable. I am considering some sort of unhinged smile, or the usual shouty-rage. He will likely have long hair and fangs - I don’t mind sculpting them! Open to ideas if anybody as any :tu:

Pose borrowed from a certain Astorath the Grim :tu:

Super dynamic pose and great use of many cool bits! Maybe move the arms and axe forward just a tiny tiny bit in its angle. Current pose does suggest the apex of his back swing, but don’t want the arms and where it meets the shoulders to seem awkward or unrealistic. (Pics always make this hard to judge! / and I think it’s the upside down shoulder pad armor throwing me off too)but seriously, Isaiah is a great new head of your primaris project! Edited by Yosef Hausakluif

Great pose! Love the fanged mask at the knee!
I agree with Yosef - upside-down shoulder guards are a bit awkward. However I admit that Astorath's pose is very similar in pauldron's position.
Although this is never really covered anywhere, but I don't believe it's possible for those pauldrons to rotate in such a way, that their top appears under the armpit. Rather when the arm is raising, they start moving a bit the back. I know this creates a lot of problem with those pauldron's positioning especially in reagrd to the jump pack and wings.

Still the pose is awesome and kitbash is of a prime sort. Keep going!

I totally agree with both of you over the pauldrons, and it is something I did attempt to sort out whilst building him, though I think I must have came up against the same problem as the original sculptor, if you lower the arms then the axe hilt covers the face, even touching the head -

gallery_46632_13392_1256.jpeg

So I have kept it similar to Astorath to keep his face more visible. I will have a look and see if I can revisit it, though I can’t promise as they were a nightmare to line up with the hands as is! Which whilst I am on the subject of nightmares, I am thinking of going something similar to Gary Oldman’s Count Dracula in his muscle armour at the start of the 1990 film, that is a shortish beard and long hair, though with the usual pasty complexion.

Also, I had a small ideas about a diorama -

gallery_46632_13392_449907.jpeg

I still have the base from Loken Vs Abaddon, so I might see about doing something with that, though Loken was on a 28mm base afaik. We shall see!

As for the knee pad/death mask, it’s actually the face from the Corpse Cart driver combines with a Sanguinary Guard knee pad :tu:
