+++E Tenebrae Lux+++

Recommended Posts

So my brothers, my vow is upheld! As promised, one Emperor's Champion, to be known as Brother Roland of the Crusade of the Crimson Shroud. Three initiate bikers, to be know as The Brothers of the Unforgiven ( with thanks given to our friend Captain Semper ). and two Rhino's with extra armor and smoke launchers, to remain unnamed for now because with the new rules of 6th edition I'm not sure how useful they will prove...

Many thanks to all that have commented on my work. And a massive thanks to Captain Semper who has undoubtedly put in countless hours to make the E Tenebrae Lux challenge the success it is.

I know it looks like the guy in the middle has a back banner pole with no banner, but as I don't use back banners, it's actually a satellite up-link antenna. :D

Fifth Vow:

“I Mystech1 answer the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete a 10 man Crusade Squad w/ Crusader Seals, 7x Bolters, 1x BP&CC, Flamer and Missile Launcher from Codex: Black Templars of total value 196pts on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to The Black Templars and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end”

This squad will also have a satellite up-link antenna on the BP&CC guy. :)

Wow, very impressive Brothers!

@Brother Christopher: Might we get a close up of your EC? I really like what I'm seeing

@Brother Ryld: Very clean, excellent white

@Mystech1: I really like how those chainswords turned out. This is like the second time that I've seen red weapons on vows and that look is really growing on me.

Bravo! <stands and applauds>

@Honda: Thanks. My skill with a brush is seriously lacking, but at least it looks acceptable. :) Red weapons are a running theme in my current batch of models as most of them are re-purposed Blood Angels. I use weapon casing colors to denote different squads, so while the CC Squad uses red and yellow (BA Assault colors), the Shooty Squad below uses straight red (BA Tactical colors).

With that said:

Was hoping to have a couple more vows done by now, but time flows differently in the W.A.R.P....

Busy week ahead so holding off on more Vows until the weekend, although I might slip a smaller one in before then. :tu:

@ Brother Christopher: What really depresses me is not that you'll repaint perfectly nice miniatures but the fact the those termies were your first ever attempt? I'm gonna take up drinking... :) Good luck Brother Christopher - it looks quite challenging given the deadline is in a week or so... Table updated with your vow.

Why thank you sir - things like that make the whole effort worthwhile! :)

It also goes a long way to show how innovative thinking makes wonders even in the limited pallete that Space Marines generally have. The red helmets add tons of character especially at the high level of your painitng - Well done Sellsword! :tu:

Captain Semper, please accept my third and final Vow. Champion Anspach of the Crusade of Wrath.

Accepted and table updated with your completion!

Many thanks to all that have commented on my work. And a massive thanks to Captain Semper who has undoubtedly put in countless hours to make the E Tenebrae Lux challenge the success it is.

As I said above such comments make the whole effort worth it! Oh, that and the fact that we get to see all these amazingly painted minis...

@ Mystech1: wow you really are on a roll!!! Congrats on your completion and your 5th (!!!) vow! You ARE a Crusader for sure! :D

TABLES UPDATED TO THIS POINT

E TENEBRAE LUX – 12th WEEK UPDATE

So Week 12 has drawn to an end. With almost 110k worth of completed points and an increased completion rate of 48.1% vs. 42.5 last week the ETL is now set for its final week! Week 11 was a fairly busy one with more some 15.8k pts completed in total and a sizeable 8.6k pts of new vows added still! This raises the total amount of points pledged in the ETL to an astounding 228k pts! Now this is the last week. THE LAST WEEK. Wrap it up guys – do not do anything to jeopardize your existing work and those that have still outstanding vows (especially those that are in their second or subsequent vow) focus of completing to preserve all your previous effort!

+++EXTEREMELY IMPORTANT STUFF+++

-This is the last weekly update. I will however keep updating the tables until the event’s official conclusion. On August 15th @ 22:00 GMT is the official end of the ETL. Please, PLEASE do not let things run to the last minute if possible. Missing the deadline for a minute will be a big let down and could leave a bitter taste to the participant in question – which will be a pity. Make no mistake I will enforce a strict deadline on the event. Completions reported at 22:01 GMT WILL NOT COUNT. In case of doubt the clock that matters is the B&C clock set to GMT time. (Remember GMT time does not change from winter to summer time so even London has an hour difference to GMT during the summer months).

-Check out the tables to ensure your vows/completions are recorded correctly. I’m willing to examine any objections but that has to be done no later than August 16th. So any objections that have not been voiced by then (the next day of the ETL’s completion) WILL NOT BE TAKEN INTO ACCOUNT! Needless to say, the earliest one raises an objection the sooner the final report will get out. Which brings us nicely to…

-THE FINAL REPORT!!! This is going to be full of data about the event as a whole, each forum’s performance and of course detailed lists of those that completed or failed to complete their vows. The “Victory Banners” will also be presented and the participants will be able to don the appropriate banner that will also represent the number of their completions.

-For those that failed to fulfill a vow, even if it was the last in a series of successful completions, you should wear the Badge of Shame until year-end (or more if you feel the penitence period should be extended). So behold the Badge of Shame:

Comments:

The Dark Angels managed to complete a 1.3k pts but the sad truth is that’s nowhere near enough... They are now in third position with a clear distance not only from the Templars but also the Wolves that are now clearly second. The only thing that can change that, is if the big guns appear. The DAs have a lack (comparably speaking) of the super-vow completions (i.e. vows above 1k pts). Unless these guys show up I can’t see the situation reversing... Let’s face it 38% completion rate in a 50%+ world is just not enough!

The Wolves had their best week todate – even better than Week 11! With 5k pts worth of completions they are now north of 20k in total and firmly second with a clear distance of 2.7k from the Dark Angels. However they are still some 7.8k behind the Templars. This means that not only they need to complete their sizeable new vows (at 2.7k they still added less than the Templars this week) but most importantly get those that have yet to complete their first vows mobilized! Unless they give everything they have (first and subsequent vows) they will not be able to challenge the Templars for top position. All in all Week 12 can be called the Week of the Wolf! Congratulations guys – I have the feeling that more is yet to come!

Blood Angels seem to get some mobilization late in the game. Still they may manage to end better than the Codex forums – especially as interest in the last days seems to be resurfacing. They have completed 1.6pts this week which, although not spectacular, is better than the DAs for example. Again the main objective here should be to get first vows completed rather than risk the pts of those that already have completions in their records. This is it guys – the last week. Make every point count!

Black Templars have not relaxed a single bit – and rightly so it seems, Wolves with the that close behind you. The Templars had the most completions this week exceeding 5.2k pts. With their completion rate approaching 60% and adding the most new vows even in the 11th hour they have a momentum unmatched by any other forum. As the final week starts it seems they are the favorites to win this – and rightly so. They continued delivering sizeable completions throughout the ETL now, it seems, it’s time to collect! Or is it?

Codex Forums seem to be completely out of steam. Despite some declarations of progress no solid results have been coming their way. Although the painting quality is generally of very high standard it seems their completion rate is currently the worse. So is the last position what you guys are shooting for? Because that’s where you’ll be come the 15th UNLESS you start delivering some results. All three sub-forums of your faction had a very silent week, with the UMs saving some of the honor with an, admittedly beautiful, but small vow points-wise. This is the time to rise again and give your rivals a nasty surprise – a last hurrah!

Chaos is fighting the long war here and with more success than Abbadon may I add! They are 4th but with a completion rate of above 60% they can be really proud of themselves! More importantly they are only 1.7k pts behind the DAs! Hmmm… How’s that for a challenge? Regardless the Chaos faction is in a really good shape with some committed individuals still very much in the game – let’s see how this palys out! Remember, if you paint the points, you will win – as simple as that!

Ordos Inquisition have a completion rate of 79%. CAN YOU MAKE IT 80%? This would be an awesome way to show to all who’s the most committed forum!!!

So until the FINAL REPORT, farewell and good luck to all!
Come on Boys!! A week to go and there is still some uncompleted Vows. The Wolves are closing, and we will never hear the end of it if they steal a win from us in the dying stages of the competition. Get those paint brushes out and complete your Vows!!!!!!

My last vow will be complete in time, and I won't pledge anything else. Summer is a busy season, not too much time to paint with all these festive activities around

And I can't stress enough how important it is that all brothers who have vowed after completing previous vows finish their work in time. With everything completed by now we have a good lead, but every loss will hit us hard. As much as I would love to see our brothers completing their first vow, loss of their commitment won't hurt our crusade. On their other hand, their commitment may be the one thing neccessary to cement our victory.

To the batcave painting stations!

My painting Zeal has not be slowed brothers, currently half way through the LR on my current vow and finished the 10 man terminator squad and chaplin and coated 2 terminators from the shooty one in left over grey shading. I plan on one last vow which will be my Limited ed Emperors Champion. But I'll see how time is once finished my current.

On holidays at the moment, so out and about with the family as well to so time free is spent painting with hard grit and steely determination to reach my objectives. I shall not falter for my effort be wasted.

Ordos Inquisition have a completion rate of 79%. CAN YOU MAKE IT 80%? This would be an awesome way to show to all who’s the most committed forum!!!

Ahem...Captain Semper, I think we would have words with you regarding the definition of "most committed". :D

Zeal Brothers, it has been our secret weapon from the beginning. No other forums have our Zeal. Let the light of our righteous endeavors blaze into the shadows of the other forums. Victory is within our grasp!

Onwards Brothers, We are nearly there!

Eberious, I'm very jealous that you got your hands on that limited edition EC. I keep seeing them on ebay and they keep going out of my price range. I was pleased when I got my hands on Castellan Draco (just wish I could find the WD with his rules), but the EC model is just fantastic - I can't wait to see him painted.

As for the ETL - outstanding work thus far, brothers! We now find ourselves in a position with not only the most points completed, but also the most points pledged. If everybody finishes their vows thus far then none can touch us. It'd be easy at this stage for those on their first vows to feel that their contribution doesn't matter too much, especially when we have lunatics like Brother Darklight, ChaplainCliff and Nards08 on their 8th vows but the truth is that EVERY point counts. Complacency is the folly of the lesser chapters. We are Black Templars and, by Sigismund, we shall not falter. Every single one of us here was drawn to the Black Templars for a reason. For some it may have been the models, for many of us it will have been the fluff. Their unending zeal spurs them ever forward and I see a reflection of that steely determination in all of you. Dorn would be proud...

I have completed my fifth and final vow for E Tenebrae Lux and am providing proof of my deed below:

Picture came out a little bit worse than the others I think. Interesting to paint PA that wasn't black for once, though I got some practise with the techmarine gunner on the Spartan.

With this my contributions for ETL are done ;) Must say I enjoyed it very much and it kept me at my most productive I've been, ever. Now let's win this thing, Brothers!

Your Honour is Your Life, Let None Dispute it!

Reinhard

Oh, he is just outstanding Reinhard. I'm going to study him quite closely as your conversions skills are officially in the "Awesome" level...and an excellent paint job to boot.

Brothers, I just did some analysis of the remaining vows:

Incomplete 1st vows = 15291 pts. This is a huge amount and I know that Brothers are still working diligently because they are men of honor.

More troubling though is the cascade effect on incomplete 2nd & 3rd vows. That amount is 10424 pts, easily enough to knock us out of the lead. I list those involved, not for us to harrass, but to encourage in this last week. No doubt Real Life will raise it's ugly head, but we must encourage these brothers even more. They need our support. Feel free to drop them a PM and let them know that we are rooting for their success.

Onwards Brothers!

No Fear, No Remorse, No Pity...

Brothers, I am well on my way to completing the mighty second vow.

Fifteen of twenty five troops in Tactical Dreadnaught Armor are completed... the final ten are on the last two colors, gold detail and black cleanup.

Estimated Time of Completion is Frīġedæġ 'day of Frige' the 10th with posting of pictures by dies Saturni.

seeing our brothers fight in this challenge has been a great inspiration to me, and is one of the reasons I joined as well, you still impress me with the fine craftmanship and zeal shown, you make me proud to call you all brothers!

Keep up the good work ;) looking forward to see the completed vows, and to see the lesser forums fall ;) and even if we look like we are going to win it now, we all know that if we trip on the final steps we will fall a long way, victory may still elude our grasp. but we will not falter, we will take what can only be deserved of the most pure of hearts, we will take this victory!!!

NO PITY!!!

NO REMORSE!!!

NO FEAR!!!

thought for the day: a moment of lacksity, spawns a liftime of heresy.

Yes! The atmosphere! It is amazing! And now, I want to do as much as I can. My dreadnought and half of the crusaders are ready. I guess myTerminators need some brushing but the paint seems to be already off (I've never washed my miniatures ;)) - well, the water is Black Templar-Black. Hopefully, I'll be done by tomorrow or in two days and can vow something more! For the Emperor... Well, this is cool and exciting. Many thanks to Captain Semper for this amazing event!

You do Dorn proud, my brothers

I am aware that the submission period is over, and fresh vows cannot contribute towards the grand total. But know this; Your zeal quickens the blood of even this ancient wastrel long in slumber, and so I will also contribute to the effort what little extra morale that I can:

“I T14 support the challenge of the Unforgiven and vow to complete One Master of Sanctity from Codex: Black Templars of total value 150 points on or before August 15. Success will bring eternal glory to Sigismund's Company and failure will doom me to bear the sign of damnation until the year-end”
