That's the pencil I got from my recruiter. I gave it to my mom and over the last 7 years she's used it to the point that she has to hand sharpen it. Now that's love!

 

I've been fixing up my drop pod this last week or so, and I think I've finished the white on the doors. I was also about to start painting my Libby, when I remembered some one requested I adjust his sword.

GOOD NEWS Brothers!

 

Firstly thanks for your comments, secondly, I will begin painting the libby today. If anyone has any suggestions on a paint scheme, I'm open ears. I will say this about the Marine, he is a lieutenant (mustang variety)

War Angel, I cannot fathom how difficult it was to resculpt the lettering on that sword; but :cuss kudos to you man for having the brass ones to take that level of task on; Semper Fidelis indeed because you clearly have faith in your craftsmanship and converting skills.

Thank you chaplain, I wih it came out a little smoother in certain parts, but patience is key.

 

I've started to paint this beast up, and as I was working on him I started to think about names. For some reason I wanted an angel vibe to it, and was thinking of movie and video game references.

 

Anywhoo, I've blocked in all the white and gold, and te blue is filled in too.

Good afternoon brothern, and a happy New Years. Today I bring you an update to the libraian (name still undecided). I'm also going to share with you all something I've wanted to do for a long time, a short story. Truthfully, this is part one of the short story, revolving around the Librian. So with out giving anything away, I present to you part one of "Angel amongst men"

 

Part one

 

The remaining transports of the Dhalkern 37th armored company sat idol on the main highway to Bellias Prime, capital city of Bellias. Empty except for the anxious drivers and gunners, the entire convoy had come to a stop when the lead vehicle, Three-One Actual, had exploded killing all on board. Fearing they where being ambushed, the CO (who thankfully had decided to spend the trip with his troops and was inside Three-Two) had the convoy stopped and his soldiers had taken up position on both sides of the road.

 

It was a maneuver that the unit had executed many times during training, and Colonel Strands was proud of his troops as they preformed the maneuver in a real combat zone. Unfortunately, just as in their training, the men and women of the Dhalkern 37th came under no fire, and after ten minutes of waiting, the rumors of what had really happened to Three-One Actual grew more and more elaborate. None of the rumors included an actual enemy force.

 

Even Strands was unsure of the circumstances surrounding the death of his staff. The convoy was no where near the front lines, which had been pushed past Bellias Prime two months ago. In fact they were being sent into the city as part of high commands plan to relocate its forces in preparation of a larger offensive that was hopped to crush the enemy in one final move. Strands was certain by this point that the blast had originated from inside the chimera, but for the safety of the unit he had decided to call it in to high command.

 

With limited assets readily available, a flight of Valkyries were sent in following their attack run on the front. Low on fuel, and racing an incoming dust storm, the formation only had time for two passes. Scanning the area, the pilots reported that no signs of the enemy was seen. This, combined with the patrols that had been ordered, was enough information for high command to order Strands to remount and continue to the city.

 

Reluctantly, Colonel Strands have the order to move out. Strands waited beside the ramp as Three-Two returned to their chimera . As the last Guardsman, Pvt Watkins, stepped onto the ramp, a strange whipping sound increased in volume. The young Pvt turned around and was showered in gore as his CO's head explode from the high caliber round. Once again the 37th was dismounting and taking up a defensive position, this time under fire. As Three-Two sprinted into position, Watkins could see guardsmen across the line being cut down by enemy fire. The attack came solely from the right flank, and along with rapidly slaying a large number of men, it was proving quite effective at cutting down remaining officers and the leadership was swiftly dwindling.

 

The chain of command is designed for such situations, so that someone is always in command and cohesion is maintained, ensuring a unit fights as a whole and doesn't destroy itself from within. It was clear the enemy had been studying them, and had planed carefully, as the effectiveness of which they continued to destroy the officer ranks was rendering the remaining few lieutenants lost and unsure of who was in charge or what to do. A handful of staff NCO's, veterans who individually had more years in service than the lieutenants combined, came together and quickly put together a counter offensive against the enemy.

 

As the tanks rotated to the field, the order was issued and Watkins found himself and his squad mates pushing into the marsh alongside a Leman Russ. The dust storm picked up and visibility became nothing, and the squad fired at shadows. Twice they got so close to the enemy that they engaged in hand to hand combat, and twice they won. The squad pressed on along side the Leman Russ, occasionally both stopping occasionally to wait for the rest f the line to clear the enemy before pressing on. Had they not been so focused on survival, many would have wondered how they had missed such a large number of enemy forces.

 

Each shot from the main battle cannon reinforced the units moral. The light from the impact sometimes cast shadows on nearby enemies, which the squad cut down with las fire. Just minutes into the counter assault, the battle tank came to a halt that lasted too long for comfort. As rounds impacted harmlessly against the vehicles hull, Watkins heard Staff Sergeant Baelfus swear and put down the vox caster. Through the lull in the fighting, they could hear an explosion that, unlike the firing of a cannon, was followed by the distinct ripple of explosions that comes from an ordinance cache lighting off. Tension quickly peaked, as the tank beside them fired off one more shot, before its turret was blown off by a rocket.

 

"Staff Sergeant, what's our plan?" Ramford sounded nervous as hell. No longer beside the noisy tank, the battlefield had become awkwardly silent.

 

Baelfus swore into the vox, but only static returned. "I think it's just us. We move left and try to stay"... Everyone looked to see why he stopped. A drip of blood was slowly making its way down the ssgts nose. Wiping his lip he looked at his fingers for a second. The flesh exploded from his face, leaving a bloody skull sitting atop his neck. Instead of collapsing, the former a ssgt's body began to spasm violently. Horns formed of blood protruded from the skull, and flames flickered to life inside the eye sockets. Hodgens was the first to react, and as the rest of Three-Two gazed in bewilderment, he raised his flamer, and torched the daemon.

 

"Witch!" He bellowed as the promethium fueled inferno engulfed the creature before it fully materialized. Watkins and Ramford watched in paralyzed horror as those who had been opposite of Hodgens were caught in the flames. Time seemed to slow down for the two, and Watkins caught one last glimpse of Serona as she disappeared behind the curtain of death. Never having a chance to move a muscle, she had a look of calmness many found beautiful about her right up to the end.

 

Their was no time for the three survivors to react to what had happened. Emerging from the storm, a giant from their darkest nightmare strode into view, and in a swift motion it's blade drove though Ramfords chest, cutting upwards bisecting him instantly. Without heasitating, the Chaos Space Marine set upon Watkins and Hodgens. The putrid orange armor shuddered the ground beneath the beast as it advanced. Slow and purposeful, the two had seconds to give it all they had, but their shots made no difference. Watkins continued to back pedal as he fired again and again, until he tripped and fell backwards. As the traitor raised his sword, Hodgens attempted to block the attack, but even the huge farm hand stood no chance, the blade cut through his flamer and the guards shoulder, embedding low in his chest after cutting though the heart.

 

Watkins fired again and again while laying on his back. From this distance he could see the possessed Marines snake like tendrils, dark twisted things that emerged from unseen holes in the armor, flick back and forth, absorbing the energy from the lasgun. As the Marine raised his foot to finish him, the tendrils wrapped around the raised leg, as if they where giving their strength to their master. His charge pack now empty, Watkins waited for the boot that never came.

 

Engaging the possessed Marine, a second Marine clad in blue, had obtained full attention of the heretic...

Part Two

 

Watkins was nearly deafened by the constant thud thud thud of the chaos Marines bolter. Watkins expected his savior to fall from the weight of fire at such close range. Miraculously, by the time the clip ran out not as single round had found its mark. Tension hung heavy in the air as the loyalist continued his calm stride towards his heretic counterpart. The traitor on the other hand seemed nervous, and back pedaled as he hung his empty bolter at his side.

 

Thick warp tendrils erupted from the back of the possessed Marine, stretching outward before taking up a defensive posture around him. Watkins looked up as the Marine passed him and noticed for the first time that he hadn't drawn any of his weapons. As the guardsman scrambled out of the way, a spark ignited in the Marines closed fist, flickering for a moment before the flames took hold and consumed his hand. Within a moment Watkins realized the flames burned with a color he could not describe. He could feel his mind begin to shatter as the color from beyond time and space clawed at his sanity. Something deep within him fought to remain in control. He felt as though he had sat there slack jawed for an eternity as he fought for his very mind, but in reality it had been merely seconds.

 

It's purple, a voice from within him whispered. Like that it was over as the strange color drained from his vision and was replaced with a compilation of purple shades. Still, the flames burned oddly and Watkins made a point not to focus on it. The two Marines were now meters apart, when suddenly the possessed Marine sprang forward, attempting to bludgeon and impale at the same time. With a speed beyond that of anything he had seen before, his target stepped within the tendrils kill zone and placed his burning hand upon the traitors helm. Reacting, the tendrils corrected their angle and made to impale their prey from behind. Bright beams of energy shot out from the burning palm where it made contact with the rusting orange helm, and instantly the chaos marines movements slowed to a near stop.

 

There was a silence in the air, and though it only lasted a second, Watkins could see the powerful lights radiate about the arch enemy's armor. Holes began to break though, tiny at first, but widening as they joined with others. In a second it was over, and as the tendrils cooked and flaked away, the eye lenses shattered allowing the stream of light to pour out. Briefly he thought he heard a scream, and like that it was over.

 

As the flames extinguished themselves, the Eagles Eternal Libraian looked down at soul surviving guardsman of Dhalkern 37th.

 

 

 

 

I've finished the primary model brothers! Only one thing remains now that I remember it, a sheathed sword, his Officers sword! Here's the pics.

I absolutely love the way the flames came out, I only wish I had been able to do it with the darker shades being closer to the inside of the flames, and more of the lighter color. I know that fire is brighter closer to the center, but this is warp fire so it acts differently, right? I hope the thing I put on his head looks like its warp energy effecting some sort of conduct, because that's supposed to be his psychic hood.

 

I also hope you like the story, as I can continue it if people would like. Like I said the only thing I have left to do is the scabbard, I just have to determine what color to paint it.
