Hey folks, I've not been idle, I've now based every marine I have (except the terminators...), lots more of my stuff has been built too :) I'll try and get pictures of everything on the weekend, but wanted to show what I've been painting most recently - it might not seem like a big deal, but I've been painting vehicle interiors so that I can actually stick the vehicles together. :)

Rhino Primaris:

Land Raider Excelsior:

Spartan:

outside of that, painting wise, I've been continuing with applying base colours here and there throughout everything else, and have that first tactical squad finally almost finished :)

on the building front, I did the second half of the second devastator squad for 40k

built a vigilator for 30k

built a heavy weapon team for 30k

built 5 more breachers

built 6 destroyers

built 6 jump pack death company and 10 on foot death company

built the land raider and rhino above

built a couple of castellax for my praevian

sculpted head for my bare head sanguinary guard leader.

built a terminator captain

built 5 more cataphractii

Heresy inspired Sanguinary Guard in the background (used the Invictus Suzerian heads on them)

small update, decided to refocus a bit on getting at least a basic 40k playable army (although it'd be usable in 30k too to be fair). There is also a unit of death company that a mate donated to me, so i didn't include them as he painted them.

progress in the last couple days consists of:

painting bases for the sternguard, contemptor, sanguinary guard, dante, corbulo and command squad.

doing first set of highlights on remaining tactical marines.

adding first lot of shading to sanguinary guard, blocking out some other colours on sanguinary guard too (I LOVE the forgeworld grey knight metal colour), undercoating their wings (not pictured)

Blocking in all the silver areas on rhino and predator, doing the shading on the rhino.

Thanks :)

Grey Knight Steel is lovely, bright silver that has a blue sheen, i decided it'd be the base colour for power weapons in my army :)

plan is to use grey knight steel, highlight up to stormhost silver, probably use a mix of black and blue washes, then paint lightning like the official sanguinary guard pictures... we'll see if i ever get that far!

Brothers,

I need some help...

I finally got around to getting the base colour onto the thunderhawk but have hit a snag... I don't know what to do with it!

Originally I'd thought I'd use white as an accent colour like this picture:

http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-lWVd3Ryp_6U/TlDdlZ4gqtI/AAAAAAAAAB4/eXphYe_3tW8/s1600/Space_Marines_by_Radojavor.jpg

However, since then, the Heresy thousand sons and blood angels have had their colour schemes solidified somewhat and now blood angels seem to accented with black and some gold, where thousand sons are accented with white and gold.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I've done some looking about the internet and it appears that people that paint blood angels ones have tended to just stick with plain red... which is fine, but I sort of want to be a bit more visually interesting with such a large model.

If anyone has suggestions, or better yet fancies photoshopping ideas, please help a Frater out and provide some inspiration!

Black bands with 1" painters tape as a mask. Maybe 2 or 3 in diagonal rings starting right behind front winglets to the heightened superstructure (using the rake there for your angle guide)

Than go super grimdark and throw some boss big ole blood drops on the wings;)... J/k about that

I wouldn't want to leave it all red, it'd just look even more like a flying brick....

I've seen a few Thunderhawks with a grey/cream lower area, that doesn't look too bad, however I'd go for diagonal black stripes, in place of the white ones in the picture. I do agree BA seem to be more red and black these days, but that isn't to say you can't use white if you wanted too!

I found this rather awesome Fire Raptor for you to be inspired by; if you can replicate the gold trim it'll look epic with black

I'll be doing a pink version very soon!

@ Blindhamster how about something like these for the Thunderhawk? Diagonal stripes like the one in the background of the reference pic, or a central vertical stripe. Any of them could have thin gold edging on the stripes, might look cool.

They're very cool :)

Any thoughts on how to take some inspiration from the heresy fire raptor (like the example above and the art it's based on)
