Ha ha :D your right about the guard. They are suppose to be many and tons of heavy armour. Its just that I have a love for elite units who rely on speed and mobility.

Secondly... I am very lazy... I don't like painting hordes of miniatures :)

When your collection grows a bit you'll be handing the DE their backsides, as Guard can throw so many dice at them that they go down like insects. Ignores cover and autocannons in particular will ruin their day and make sure you have plenty of numbers to weather their storm :)

He had loads of jet bikes which had a ridiculous cover save but the ignore cover order worked well :)

I think I just need to sort out more models ;)

It has been a little quiet on the model front on this thread. Some of you may feel I have not lived up to my responsibilities as a member of the Commissariat but in the background things have been happening on the painting table...

To the soundtrack of screams, shouts and sprays of blood here is the current state of the 711th reinforcements:

Wyvern/Hydra

This is now magnetised and the tutorial will be going live this weekend at some point. The model itself will be parked in the spry shop over the weekend for its green base spray prior to the full application of paint over the next couple of weeks.

Baneblade

This is what has been causing the problems but not so much in a technical side but just because it is just so damn big ;)

About 75% of the magnetisation is complete but I need to think of a simple way to do a couple of parts of the upper hull but I have some ideas.

With so many parts being able to swap around it is going to cause problems with my cam scheme but I will cross that bridge when I get to it. ;)

actually, a camo paint sheme is not such a big problem. i did it on my shadowsword/stormsword/all other variants and with some planning it can be easely worked around. offcourse my sponsons weren't exchangeable!

@vash: Glad to be able to persuade you to commit to the Baneblade owners club.

@WarriorFish: Thanks. Just need to sort out the tutorial now :sad.:

@hendrik: The side panels/sponsons will be the problem. They can be put in any of the 3 locations so I may end up having to do a wavy pattern so each one has exactly the same pattern join point if you know what I mean

It will be doable but will need a little thought and at the moment I have brain wear...

Looks like a sort of Power Rangers Transformer hybrid, ready to swap the the most appropriate configuration :P I am sadly ill today, but that sounds like a good excuse to do some quiet modelling.

I should have some nice free time over the Christmas break (thank the Emperor!), any chance the tutorial will be done for then? ;)

Most definitely my Lord Commissar WarriorFish. At your command

I hope to have the tutorial done in 2 weeks but the painting will take a little longer :sad.:

It cannot be "sadly ill" if you can get some modelling work done. I find that any extra time is Emperor sent., but get yourself down to the Medicae for a check up. I hear they are doing a special on Augmetic implants that need trialling.

Funny you should ask...

I have a second Baneblade/Hellhammer from the Hammer of Cadia set which will also be getting the magnet treatment but this will be far easier as I will be able to just glue the upper hull on but this will give me a second set of sponsons when I need them. I am looking at buying the sponson sprue at some point in the far, far future so I will be able to field both Baneblades with 4 sponsons in the future ;)

Well it means missing the game where I am surely needed plus I've got a party to be going to this evening but we'll see how it goes. It's nice and sunny for some modelling work though :) I checked with the medics and I've already got the heresy detecting cranial upgrade but they've put me on the list. I'm hoping to get a laser eye replacement, that would be cool.

I will make sure to put some time aside for my Shadowsword over the holiday, once I get my Big Guns tank sorted of course! This tutorial will surely be your finest yet :D

It is looking like I may just go the whole way and finish this one before Big Guns as I hate having half done models lying around but have no fear as this means I can build the second Baneblade for Big Guns ;)

Laser eye sounds good or perhaps a built in targeter for when we have to "motivate" the Guardsmen :P

I'll have you know my aim is great, got to be at least BS5

Looks like we're going to be inundated with super-heavies soon and that's fantastic, I'll be proud to add mine to that roster! It won't be the whole gamut though, as I'll be building the old Shadowsword kit though that still has plenty of configurations :)

In-between other jobs I managed to use up 2 1/2 cans of Tamiya NATO Green spray and get the base layer done on all the bits. Now just to add the sandy bits all the detailing and the weathering and it will be done  :(

Yes - I know the barrel is upside down on the photo but it is not glued on :)

It is a big kit but I am looking forward to the detailing :)

I think I've caved. The wheels are set in motion, I will be purchasing a Baneblade in the New Year. I think I'll make it one of my first magnetised vehicles - oh God help me - in order to get the most out of it! :)

Keep up the good work, El'mo, I hope GW gives you a commission! :P

Thanks guys. It will be abit of a job to paint all the options but I think it will be worth it.

@WarriorFish. The assassin has the names. Deploying him now. The secret must be protected.... The Emperor expects!
