WarriorFish
Excellent, been too long since we saw some chocochip soldiers Coming along very quickly no less! That's a great use of the Baneblade commander too, painting him black makes him almost a different model.
Kierdale
Lovely work! What parts is the commissar made up of? Baneblade commander...? And is that wreath on the shoulderpad moulded on, freehand or GS?
WarriorFish
All part of the Baneblade commander isn't it? If not, then the moulded shoulder pad is from the normal commander bits from the modern tank kits like the Chimera. You can just about make them out in the bottom left of the first sprue picture :)
elmo
Thanks guys... I have got very efficient at painting chocochip now. These 10 took 2 nights from black primer For the Commissar: The chainsword is from a Sgt with the stripes removed and the wrist bent for an "At rest" position. The bolter arm is a bolt pistol glued onto the pointy finger arm with the hand removed. The body is from the Baneblade but the right foot has been rotated to the side to allow for the firing stance for the boltpistol. The shoulder pad is from the Hellhound kit but I think there are some in most of the AM vehicle kits. There are some with the baneblade but I am saving those ;) The head is from the bits box.... but definitely not the Hellhound head. scatmandoo
That's super progress and they look great so far. The commissar is boss. What model is that? Just seen the comments. Great conversion then and I love the stance.
Vash
Wow, thats pretty neat. Love the speed and result o your camo pattern. Now I can rest easy for a while :) Got my update picture.
elmo
Thanks guys ;) I have been playing around with the Scion bits I have and have come up with these. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/PC060015_zps8b8a1c2b.jpg The grenade launcher will be replaced with a melta or plasma gun depending on what I find in the bits box. The Medics bag will have the symbols removed and it will become a briefcase or I will cut off the hand at the wrist to allow him to carry something else. The hot shot cables will be cut off as I just can't get them to match up and I will add guitar wire instead. I know Veterans cannot have hotshots but if I ever want to use them as Scions it would not be too bad an idea to leave them on. http://i814.photobucket.com/albums/zz66/jonbrooks_photo/PC060014_zpsa619bb06.jpg I need to add a barrel to the hotshot pistol as the old one seems to have vanished somewhere In general, I have found that I am missing the correct arms for the guns so I will have to do some chop-shop work to get them to fit but this will delay the project a bit and the necks on the heads are a little too long so I will increase the depth of the recess on the torso to allow them to sit correctly. I am limited for bits so what you see will pretty much be what you get.... I need to get some more special weapons :( CyderPirate and Kierdale 2 Back to top
scatmandoo
How about no wires at all? The guns look different enough from normal lasguns to be considered as hot shot for the odd game. As for the heads, I found that problem so trimmed the head to fit in the recess which worked for me. Good luck finding weapons, no Space marine specials's around? The suitcase is a great idea. Very "Die Hard with a Vengeance" style demo charge.....
Vash
If you have the complete box of Scions its "fairly easy" to figure out which arm goes to another piece. Each arm has its unique patter on its connecting point. Look closely and you will see one with no pattern, i.e. flat. Another one will have a "triangular hill" shape. A third one will be triangular and so on with different shapes. Now given, following these patterns will lock you into a certain position of the weapon. Othervice I like scatmandoo's suggestion with skipping the cables. They as he says different enough to pass as either.
elmo
The problem is that I never had a complete box, only bits, and the upper arms must fit more than one weapon or that I just did not manage to get all the bits I needed.. I will just have to work around it. I am going to stick with the cables, partly as I have got some Kasrkin on the way and partly as I like the challenge ;)

WarriorFish
Looks good, like said you can snip the cables off and it's fine - just a normal lasgun power pack then I gather the heads aren't a perfect fit between torsos so will need some modifying too? Looking forward to seeing these troopers done
elmo
Some delays but here is the progress so far - I need another couple of days to fill gaps and detailing but I won't have time now till the new year :( I was a bit limited with the poses and equipment due to bits supply but it has worked out ok... http://fc08.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/354/9/e/wip___cadian_veterans_by_elmo9141-d8ahlqf.jpg http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2014/354/b/3/wip___cadian_veterans_by_elmo9141-d8ahlws.jpg http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/354/6/4/wip___cadian_veterans_by_elmo9141-d8ahlym.jpg http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/f/2014/354/5/f/wip___cadian_veterans_by_elmo9141-d8ahm02.jpg Vash, Kierdale, WarriorFish and 3 others 6 Back to top

Bjorn Firewalker
I'm impressed. The "chocolate chip" camouflage pattern can't be easy to paint.
elmo
Thanks guys @Bjorn. Once you get the hang of it it is not too bad to do. The main problem is trying not to repeat the same pattern.

WarriorFish
Great stuff, seems like the Scion bits on Cadians thing is taking off too :) The use of bits is good as well, plenty of variety there and dynamic poses. Will you be adding another vet squad like this to your army? walter h 1 Back to top
elmo
I will be adding more vets but not like these, they will be Kasrkins. WarriorFish 1 Back to top
WarriorFish
More for us to look forward to then But of course first there is a small matter of the Big Guns challenge, and I'm not talking about arm wrestling
Vash
simply wow. Your making my scions and veterans look so lame with their mono colours! And second of all... your starting to make me go bleach bone/white armour/camo... With that said, great work on these Veterans.
