Sentinels: 2024! Technically my first Intercessor...

Recommended Posts

I've just noticed that your Chapter Master and Arkhan share the same base helmet. For some reason the way your profile pic's slanted I'd always assumed it was a conversion of a DE helmet - it looks a little like one of the Halo: Reach helmets with a big bare faceplate from that angle.

Weird things you notice when you're skiving off work eh...

Clearly, that helm is the choice of champions. And yeah, I do kind of need to get a better version of the picture to use as my profile pic. As you say, it focuses a little too much on his MASSIVE 'bald spot'.

I actually want to a Dark Eldar Reaver helmet conversion to make a helmet that's all viewport/high-strength glass, but I worry that it'd look too much like an oversized, sky blue light bulb (because it'd be the same colour as other Sentinels' eye-lenses).

  • 2 weeks later...

Looks like some stuff got lost in the warp!

Terminator #8:

Side shot as requested by Arkhan:

Side shot pls! (paraphrasing)

And as for what these guys are on the tabletop... A Deathwing Terminator Squad. Yeah, boring right? But that's the only unit that will let me get a really mixed loadout, without being limited to five models like a Deathwing Command Squad, while also being a Troops choice without going Space Wolf (Grimnar is too rich for my blood, points-wise).

And what kind of lightbox? For photography.

Test shots, post Photoshop level adjustments. From the left: lit from both sides; from both sides with the panel on the right removed (raw light); double lighting from the left and nothing from the right.

After those test shots, I will be taking photos with the models lit from both sides, but with an additional light source in front of the model, between the model and the camera. The lightbox itself isn't complete yet either.

Really enjoyed reading through this thread. Some great work here mate. Keep at it, you still got a whole mountain of plastic/resin to get through. :smile.:

Thanks! And ain't that the truth... And like an idiot, I keep buying more resin...

Another thing I realise I didn't say earlier is that I really like the lightbox. It makes for such a better picture.

Oh, and build your bikes :tongue.:

Cheers! The lightbox isn't done yet, but the basics worked out well!

Funny you should mention my bikes, Forge World despatched them on Wednesday... But there's a sizable chunk of incomplete models to get through between these Tarts and the Outriders. Believe it or not, I have a plan for my upcoming stuff!

That, really, should be the stock assault cannon out of the box. Awesome work.

I was thinking of doing something similar with my Contemptor Mortis but never got around to it. Huge fan of this one. Where's the ammo belt from? Gonna feel like a right derp if it's how the SW one actually looks normally... *goes to check*

Think we're about due a squad photo if there's only 1 more to go... ;)

The whole thing is the Space Wolf one. The chains are there to obscure the damage I incurred in fitting the feed onto the torso and arm (Tarts have different dimensions from Indoms, after all), and the brass etch parts are there to obscure the leftovers from removing the wolf's head above the trigger guard.

It also took me hours (and a substantial amount of torn skin on the fingertips!) getting the 'loose' parts of the chain to stay glued in position, so probably not doing a belt feed on Tarts ever again!

Completion is most satisfying:

Group shot tomorrow, when I'm less sleep-deprived from trying to save the world from aliens (expansion pack for X-Com has been eating up a fair bit of time).

That is some sweet purple, brother!

Might need to work on my placement when I'm taking photos. Also the shot's not the best, lightbox isn't done yet.

And a quick note for anyone reading this and who might be working with the Tartaros kit: the only issue I had with the models is the inner shoulder pad. On every single Tartaros, I had to trim the inside upper edge of the inner shoulder pad, otherwise it would get in the way of placement and would not sit flush with the shoulder joint.

Anyway, hope everybody enjoys the squad, I'll be taking a break from Terminators for a while and work on the backlog instead. I have something decently cool in mind for the Christmas period, just as a way of motivating myself...

EDIT: Thanks geektom! Pretty high praise from someone who paints as well as you!

No comments? Fine then!

Had a game today, needed better storage for the team than GW's normal foam slots in the case. Luckily, my friend gave me some foam a while ago. He worked at a PC building place and apparently all the RAM sticks come in huge batches and in foam 'boxes'. Which he gave me. And I repurposed.

Not really an update, I'm just real happy with how handy they are. It's double the depth of the GW trays, and two of them fit into the case just fine with a single GW tray behind them.
