Sentinels: 2024! Technically my first Intercessor...

Recommended Posts

Just looked through the whole blog, stellar work mate.

Thanks mate! I dig your MMs myself, so this is mad props.

I'm glad it was taken as constructive criticism, it certainly was a minor point. I think the smoke launchers will break up the silver nicely though. Keen to see what you do with the base.

Well done on the banner - don't think I've said it yet but the command squad looks really great. Keen to see a completed picture of them with the banner  Who is their HQ again?

I'm actually a little bit stumped on the base. Might find a way to prop one of the feet up a tiny bit, but other than that I have no idea what I'm doing with the base...

And yup, banner goes on the pole tonight, and I'll put them all into a photo.

Their HQ (counts-as Azrael) is this fellow here:

Actually a pretty poor angle for a photo, since it makes him look like he has a limp left wrist... I may swap out his helm during this project too, but I'm not 100% on that idea yet.

Right-o, just popping in to say that my next update won't be until after the New Year, I think.

For now:

The photo's actually made me realise that I need to touch up the red squiggles in the top two blocks of text.

My brain-grapes have hit something of a creative roadblock on the dreadnought's base, so I decided to move on to the next task (though for the record, I'm inclined to go with the basic dreadnought base for him, since I don't exactly have spare dreadnought-sized bases lying around).

The next task?

Razorback for this squad. The masking tape is there to block out the bits I want to keep black, and you can see the pencil markings for where I'll be painting in the white stripes (black and white scheme to show off Errant-Captain Alaric's heraldry and Company colours. The Razorback's interior will be bone-coloured (as per the entry ramp). The plan is to use the Deimos-pattern front plate in conjunction with reinforced armour to create (slightly) more convincing extra armour. Will be using a Forge World lascannon turret too.

I'm sure with some time at the hobby table you could cut and sand the default base so it's a flat, and if need be resurface it with styrene from something like a yard sale sign and some gap filler.

Looking forward to seeing your razorback!

As promised, it's the new year, and I have updates!

First, I realised I never actually posted a photo of the second-to-last Honour Guard, so here he is:

Next, the parts of the Razorback I have ready:

Except for the big icon thing, the unprimed parts are the parts that I will be using to make an automedicae station on the back of the Razorback.

And some dry-fitting:

I'm very happy with how the bone interior turned out...

Chugging along...

Added reinforced transparisteel inlays to the front plate. Or maybe I just don't like the idea of having gaps into a featureless part of the model...

Very happy with how the stripes came out, though would much prefer if I didn't need to resort to masking tape to paint straight lines...

What do you think professional painters use? Use the tools that are out there, mate!

I thought they were just so steady with their hands that they didn't need tape (must add sarcasm warning for those who don't get it) Edited by forte

Thanks team!

Didn't get much done on the Razor last night, just finished a hatch/cupola.

I plan to start on the back half of top of the hull tonight, which means breaking out the masking tape again! I also need to dry fit some extra armour on the sides to check where they overlap with the top of the hull, and to see how the extra armour affects the stripe going down the sides of the tank.

Anyways, sorry for the photo-less update!

Are you making the extra armor yourself? If so, what thickness of plastic card are you using?

I turned 28 about 20 minutes ago, and you guys get the birthday gift!

In the form of a photo update...

Not a whole lot of stuff done (the silver needs to be touched-up obviously, and the more prominent edges on the back need to be highlighted), but I've been pretty busy this week!

Progress!

Markings and paint cleaned up on top plate and rear ramp. Still dry-fitted though, I don't assemble till the end.

Sorry about slow updates this week, y'all lost me to Dishonored and Bioshock Infinite. And Banner Saga, which I'm still playing...

Next step should be internal walls and automedicae station.

Haven't posted here in ages! This is all progressing really well...I'm a big fan of the Razorback's interior, I dream of doing the interior on my next one like that. Really cool job.

Standard bearer and honour guard are looking great, too. Really liking your stuff, dude.

Also, happy birthday! Glad there's a couple of us representing the youthful here on the B&C, we can't all be ancient ;) *ducks*

Thanks team!

Update! One side of the interior done. I have to say, painting the inside doors was harder than I expected (having to paint the inside of a recess is awkward on the wrists).

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/Disruptor_fe404/40K%20WiPs/penitent_tangent_16.jpg

Very happy with how it's turning out, except for how much time I'm spending on layering on the bone colour. Still brainstorming what should go on the opposite side of the interior, thinking small banners or scrolls at the moment. Might also add more to the automedicae station while I'm at it.

That looks so good! I never understood the point of painting interiors, but you have totally inspired me.

Keep it up, man!

Thanks mate! My stance on painting interiors is pretty simple. If it has a transport capacity, I'll paint the insides. If it doesn't, I'll seal it up.

Mind you, this only works because my models never pull double-duty. Someone who has a 'generic' Rhino with all the options so that it can be any Rhino-chassis vehicle probably won't want to seal anything up!

Crisp and sharp is how I roll!

Today's update brought to you by the letter Z for Zeal.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v515/Disruptor_fe404/40K%20WiPs/penitent_tangent_17.jpg

Still deciding what to put on the blank scroll, I'm thinking something of about four letters in length, but I can probably fit in six letters if one of them is a capital I... Maybe 'GRAIL', but it seems a little superfluous to write that under Grail Company's emblem...

And yes, there's a reason why Alaric bears a Black Templar cross on his ride.
