It's a really good conversion, noctus - true to the art. Cypher and his rules seem like a great buy points wise for what he does. Might have to make a count-as for my Ravens, and I hatehatehatehatehateHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE count as.

Hey, it's Cypher, you don't need to make a counts-as, it's just him!

Aslso, noctus, very nice models!

well I thought with your chaos knights (counts as bikes)

it would be terrifying to hear word bearers chanting whilst slowly marching on a city with the knights at the forefront with the hounds sniffing out the fleeing innocents.

and maybe GS some ragged bits of flesh hanging from there mouths.

a very dark image that I feel the ruined king would appreciate.

every now and then I can be serious.

@jaspcat your a bloody legend! got some chaos knights sat around doin nothing.

Wow, didn't expect that many responses for when I got back. Thanks guys, your support really means a lot to me.

That would be mine, actually.

Hail to the Ruined King, Brothers and Sisters.

So it would seem whatever it was that hated my guts has come to pass and I'm back on my game. I'll be a little slow at first but I am bound and determined to make the best of what time I have off. So we only have one model up today. He's not a character, and he's not particularly amazing but he's close to my heart. Some of you may remember a project I had started, a Chapter by the name of the Shadows of Mysis. Well, for various reasons, I simply had to drop the project and in all honesty I don't think I can really go back to it... But that DIY Chapter is perhaps one of my favorite things I've ever come up with and will always remain close to my heart.

Though I may never return to creating them as a full army, I want to have a reminder, some sort of physical representation for what I loved and keep it around with the rest of my army. With that in mind, I present to you Brother Lugos, the last living member of the Shadows of Mysis following their excomunicate traitoris condemnation. He now stands as dedicated marksman of Second Claw for the Night Lords 18th Company otherwise known as The Final Breath.

Enjoy.

Ya, its only slightly repositioned assault marine legs. I lifted up the bent leg to look like he's standing.

Thanks for the confirmation on my guess.  You reply right away on this one but still haven't said where the engraved knight legs came from a few pages back?

I'm not usually a fan of guys with one foot up higher than the other poses but this looks really good coupled with the cannon and the turn of his head.  I also really like your Cypher conversion.  I think yours is a big improvement over the old GW one especially the cape and torso.

Oh! Sorry mate, don't think I saw that question. The engraved knight legs come from the Chaos Lord on Manticore kit. There's two sets of legs that look fairly similar, the engraved ones and one with skull and star points on the knees.

Honestly, I probably abuse the Captain Morgan pose too much that it is almost on every single model I make. Generally, I just don't care for the standard leg poses. They're too static and leave little room for changes or interesting poses. That being said, I'm also not interested in investing several hours on the tedious process of cutting legs up and then green stuffing them all back together. It just takes way too much time and just not worth it in the long run for me. The Captain Morgan pose is sort of just the easy way out.

I should have known those legs come from that kit.  I've wanted that Lord for conversion bits ever since I saw his bare head but I never noticed the legs.  The entire upper body and head, now the legs.  I would just buy the whole kit but for the price and my lack of purpose for the Manticore itself.

I didn't want to comment on the prevalence of the Captain Morgan pose I noticed but it is better than a bunch of marines standing around with their bolters across their chests as well.

I still have the Manticore sitting around actually, along with most of the bitz from the Helldrake kit.... One day when I'm feeling up to it, I'll be combining those two together to make my single Helldrake... But it's somewhat unfortunate that the Manticore just seems a tad bit too small... I'll give it a go but I may have to look into that Vampire Count Zombie Dragon thing.

Thankfully, I am all too self-aware of my addiction to the one leg up pose. That being said, I still think it looks badass so I may just keep using it anyway...

I like him man. Very fitting. Very fitting. You need to explain how you manage those scarf/shemagh things though. MIne did not come out nearly as well.

You know I can't give out my trade secrets, man. Patented scarfs ;)

In other words, very carefully. :teehee:

Wonderfully inspiring thread, I may have to "liberate" a few ideas for my Corsairs. ;)

Brother Lugos is great, its an interesting pose of a heavy weapon specialist. Also good to see the Shadows of Mysis live on in some form.

  • 4 weeks later...

Ave Brothers, and Hail to the Ruined King and the Dead Word for which all lies and truths become one and nothing.

It's been quite a while, I know, and I apologize for this. Alot has been happening lately, I started school up last week and going through the first week or two of getting used to the rhythm of things. That being said however, my Word Bearers have been sorely lacking. Another very important update, and one that will explain the extrmely sluggish pace as to which my army will be update for a week or two more, is that I have opened myself up for commissions again. Firstly, I am working again on my friend's Nurgle army. His first project for me was to create a new terminator sorcerer for him and his army of pestulant warriors. I finished the model tonight and would like to share it with you before I get to painting it.

Another commission I received was from a different friend who is attempting to create for himself a Death Korps of Krieg Armoured Company. And I mean that. (He has 16 or so Leman Russes just for these guys). As part of that task, he's commissioned me to build, and paint his Baneblade as well as the Command Leman Russ. The major problem really is that this is an ANCIENT piece of Forge World resin, and nearly every single piece has thick slabs of resin sticking out from where they were casted. Cutting them is no good, not even heat them up and cutting them. Unfortunately, the only efficient method so far has been sanding, which while reliable and smooths down the piece, it is an exceptionally tedious task and will take many hours of work... That being said, this is an important facet to all this, a prize well worth all this ordeal. In compensation for my work in completing this Bane Blade and Leman Russ, my friend with be ordering Lorgar himself for me. Yes, the Aurelian shall join his Sons and I just cannot wait to get my hands on the juicy model...

Just thought I'd keep you guys updated, since you always give me so much support.

The Sorcerer is indeed awesome! Extra kudos for managing to find a way of using some of the most amazing Ogre Kingdoms bitz on a CSM. I also really love the pose!

My one suggestion would be to maybe add some ethereal flames (made from GS) to the bear-trap thing in his left hand: That would make it look like an actual piece of arcane equipment rather than a somewhat whacky (and outdated) weapon choice. Plus it would nicely tie in with his background as a psyker!

Wow!! He looks great!! And great minds must think alike, I just got the Vulture in the mail as well for my WB's, even though this guy ain't one!! The chain/beartrap is looking sweet, I cannot wait to see this guy all painted up!!
