Honestly can't say I have. Mysis' scarf is my only successful product. Every other scarf attempt was a complete bust.

I know that feel. I suck at cloth sculpting. The only good ones I have done were complete accidents.

Whenever I can pick up a new batch of Greenstuff (I'm all out at the moment) I'm gonna give Lorenzon's tabard tutorial a try.

It works like a charm. Head to a Home Depot and pick up some super fine grade sand paper though. I've had some success with taking a wooden pencil, sharpening it, and gluing the sandpaper to the tip so I can get in between the folds without too much trouble.

So, its been a while since my last update. Been settling down for the beginning of school and such but I wanted to make sure my entry for Grotsmasha's competition was complete. So here is 'Captain' Tor Val "The Craven", formerly of the VIII Legion now in service to the Warmaster Horus.

Yay update! And another awesome conversion. Where's that helm from? Looks like it'll put the fear right in the Astartes...

Ahaha, thanks Greyall, glad someone likes it. The helmet is from the Krell, Lord of Undeath model from the Vampire Counts Fantasy Range. Its a great model.

I must be utterly frank though, the design isn't super original. The back and shoulders of the model come from the Dark Vengeance Chosen Champion. Unfortunately, it seems that despite my efforts to make him seem special, I actually created the exact same pose with this guy as the Champion, save the difference that Tor Val has a leg propped up. I feel like a plagiarist. :(

Oh damn, you're right, ah well, the choice of bits make up for it though. Really digging the helm and you actually sell the massive wings well. Probably because he isn't wearing the helm lol. So I've noticed some changes to your banner and picture, we gonna get to see these crusaders soon? I know Vadrek has a particular love for the boys in black ;)

Thanks. I've never been a fan of the winged helms but they can look cool if they're done right. The sideways wings look ridiculous and I have never like them. However, the swept back wings look good when done right because they pose an an imitation or a mockery of the winged helms we see in the Dark Angels and some times Blood Angels Chapter. Something that represents demi-god knights yet worn by someone who is everything but a knight. Then again, that was the whole theme of Tor Val. I created him with the intention of instilling this baroque and ancient armour design, to make him look and feel Knight-like in nature yet the reality is he is absolutely NOT a knight and he never will be.

 

As for my Crusading Zealots, I'm working on them as we speak. ;)

Thanks, man. The Power Pack comes from the Night Lords Champion model and the trophy pikes with all the heads on it comes from Krell: Lord of Undeath like the helmet.

Hail to the Ruined King. Its has been some time, brothers and sisters. But we're back on track and ready to bring yet more faithful into the fold.

 

So first up, we have three new Word Bearers to bring forward. I'm currently trying to dish out more standard marines at the moment to fill out the army rather than just be working on characters as I usually do.

Thanks guys. I think one of the things I strive for most in my work is a sense of balance and purpose. Your complement only informs me that I'm doing a good job, Jimmy.

 

Going to be honest, while I have gotten over my fear of painting models, I am now at the moment essentially out of my ceramite white basing and my nuln oil without the means of purchasing any new ones just yet.

 

So that may take a bit.
