Studying painting skin because I'm not happy with how the way I've been doing looks, considering a conversion project of Wild Boy Orks (using Contrast paints because that bright color works for Orks in my head) and learning how to paint tattoos.

TITH I worked on some Warlord Games US Infantry I got in their sprue sale, and the day before, a fantasy model I got off a Kickstarter. Both instead of what I should have been working on: my ETL vow. Don't be fooled, though, that I haven't done anything -- I've laid down most of the basecoats for my ETL stuff as well, just keeping busy with a variety of projects so as not to get bored (I've also just got a :censored:ton of different stuff to paint and many other projects I'm drafting as well.)

I learned that you can use Contrast paints to do NMM (not my work, the man is a former 'eavy Metal painter and a wizard with a brush): https://razzaminipainting.blogspot.com/2019/06/non-metallic-metals-with-contrast-paints.html?m=1 Edited by Fulkes

TITH I got my pauldrons handed to me in a friendly game of Only War. Used some of my ETL vows - who, by the grace of the Emperor, actually performed better somehow than their already-painted counterparts - but got destroyed. Knight died on turn 3, Slamguinius died on turn 4. Enemy had a setup of two Tank Commanders, a converted Yarrick, an Enginseer and two Bullgryn Bodyguards, all clustered together. The Tank Commanders would order each other (wat) to buff each other, the Bullgryns worked as extra wounds for the Tank Commanders (one of them managed to block a Thermal Cannon shot and, because of how the rule works, only took one mortal wound) and the Enginseer didn't actually do anything, but if he did, he'd have repaired the Tank Commanders. Basically, he had a fortification worthy of the Imperial Fists, made of HQs and Elites.

My Reivers managed to take out an entire Infantry Squad in one charge, but then got wrecked by one of the aforementioned Bullgryn, and although I lost two Eliminators turn 1, the Sergeant somehow managed to not even take a scratch, ever, even after getting melee'd by some Scions. Tempted to run him as a counts-as Phobos HQ (probably a Captain, since it's the closest to the Eliminators in profile) of some kind to represent his promotion for surviving like that.

My Dreadnought did... nothing, the whole battle. My Intercessors did... nothing. The whole battle. Everything I had in deepstrike and my Knight all did stuff.

Zephaniah, I feel ya dude. I feel ya.

This Week in the Hobby (it was too late in the day, then too late in the bottle for me to report it much sooner) I played a 5K game against custodes... killed 500 points and was tabled turn 5. Awesomely fun opponent but then I did the math and realized that it is quite possible to fail 5 of 6 7" charges, then have rerolls account for killing almost a dozen chaos marines on overwatch.

But Today in the Hobby, I finished up my Sons of Horus vets for ETL. I'm pretty happy with 'em.

Post Scriptum: Oh, and I may have done up a weathering tutorial. that's also a thing.

TITH I finally finished assembling everything from Warhammer Conquest. Being away from home for 7 mo the meant everything REALLY piled up.

Now I’ve just got a load of Catachans and a load of Blood Angels to build.

Also, TITH, I received my Sanguinius model from Forgeworld in the post. Don’t even play HH, I just really like the model.

An army shot of the Epic World Eaters (Great-Crusade era) - although it's a playable force so far there's tons of stuff I want to work on so will keep going with them (terminators, more tactical cohorts, super heavies and of course.. Titans!)

I have a blog over in the Age of Darkness section if anyone wants to have a read of the background and project log I'm compiling, which features the Twelfth Legion fighting Orks, back when the Legion were the 'good guys' (if you can ever call them that!)

Am also working on a Skaven team for Blood Bowl, in-between doing the little guys

Yesterday in the hobby, I went down to my local GW and picked up an assault squad... which means that I have a full company of space marines now!  I also picked up a land raider to convert into a terminus ultra.

TITH I had to write a Karen I want to speak to your manager email to GW to criticize the no FW policy at Warhammer stores. The salt was real, I think I have averted liver and kidney failure as a result. Its no lawyer death note, but painful enough to no be ignored completely and passed around and be acknowledged, at least internally and with myself. No its not a legal case, just a very good complaint letter that will be taken seriously. At this stage I won't share it, see how this shakes out.

TITH I finished painting the legs of my Chaplain dreadnought, now onto the body of the dreadnought. Hopefully my FW order comes in tomorrow, so I can assemble the Dreadnought CCW arms for this guy

I also started on a crazy project, a Primaris'd Belial made from Primarneus Calgar.

Wait, what? Your local GW banned Forge World products? I mean, I know that's up the manager's discretion, but still. That seems really, really silly to me.

Yeah it was a thing. I have a list of 3 other GW stores that are a reasonable distance for me to travel to- out of 4 total. After that, LGS's I have never been to or attended for years. GW store just seemed like an obvious choice to start back with, you know ?

I am very interested to hear how this moves on, so please share their response(s) and if the stores change their "attitude" as a result.

Spent way too much on books.

Bought Sanctus Reach: Hour of the Wolf, Champions of Fenris, and the AoS Core Book plus three supplements. No doubt when it comes the AoS book won't match the photos and will be a paperback or something.

No, it's a hardback, and as big, if not bigger than the 40k core rules. It's well into the "book-based self protective lethal weapon" category of hardback too
