It took about five times to get it how I wanted, and thanks for the compliment! I saw another model painted up that way and did my best to copy it. I used DW Acrylic inks for it: Black, Purple, and White.

 

I base coated the sword black and then lightly started brushing on and blending the purple and white to get the colors and shading that I wanted. I then went back over with the black to darken up a couple areas. I edge highlighted with the white. I was trying to get a dark ethereal feeling with the sword. I didn't want it to be really bright, but rather seem dark and deep and glowing with power.

TITH, I got gifted the Eldar Apoc box for my birthday (was two days ago, party was today) and proceeded to build both Wraithlords. One with flamers and scatter las, the other with bright lances and shuriken cannons. Both have swords. I also built one Wraithguard with D-Scythe and the Spiritseer. Finally, I started work on a Chaplain for ETL.

TITH, I completed my first vow for this ETL, and have pledged a second (far smaller!) one.

TITH I finally snagged a new knight, and a new (New for me, I remember near monopose and metal) Sentinel for some last minute projects.

But I also got my first game in with the Voidclade Marauder force as an ally to some Alpha Legion Chaos in 40K. On one hand, Hertek Marauders are actually pretty resilient and worthwhile infantry that far outperformed my Chaos Marines point for point. On the other, massed buffed inceptors+ doctrine are really hard for me to handle with my typical forces.

Marauders... I wish they could be troops. I'd take a company of them in a heartbeat. Even if a total of 5 space wolves killed 40 in 2 turns and took 1 wound in return.

last night in the hobby, I primed a load of old OABR orks to play around with contrast paints on. Plus, randomly, an armoured container and a few 'boxes'.

 

Having picked up the odd paint to play with here and there, i realise i now have 20+ contrast paints and can actually paint quite a few different models up to a respectful basic standard with them without any other paints. I'm really liking them for organic models/fabrics etc. Not convinced for large, armoured models so much yet. 

 

also recently, gave my son (and by process of sibling bickering, my daughter) the first strike boxset and they spent a good few hours playing with paints. A stained table cloth and ruined pair of leggings later they have  painted their first models. Very very proud! (winced quite a bit at the volume of paint used)

TITH, I started and finished my fourth and last ETL vow quick enough that nobody posted in between vow and declaration in the BA Outpost.

 

I also finished my "5 matching FLY BLOOD ANGELS CHARACTERs" project, albeit with different weapons from what I'd planned (There's a Chainsword, some Bolt Pistols, some Plasma Pistols and some other weirdness instead of Hand Flamers and Thunder Hammers for all except the Smash Captain) but I think it worked out. Supreme Command Smash deepstrike deathball+BA Battalion, anyone?

Pic is after his first turn having wiped out 9 tacticals and 5 scouts, because everything else was out of LoS. I rolled very poorly until Assault phase turn 2 (average roll of about 2 beforehand) when my Thunder hammer Captain managed a deepstrike charge and finished off his Valiant (thank you Imperium's Sword). I had lost 10 Sternguard, the last tactical and both my tanks at this point and it looked pretty bleak.

In my turn 3 I managed to steal the relic with my LT and run towards my own lines and his knights had gotten too close trying to get a bead on my Captain and 3 aggressors (they died horribly to the rad cleanser and the relic gatling gun) allowing G-man, the 3 remaining Aggressors, and 2 LC Tartaros supported by the UM relic banner to get into melee and kill the Magaera. Burned my last 3 CPs on fighting twice because it survived with 1 wound due 2 dmg in total from 2 unsaved powerfist wounds.

Turn 4 got my LT crushed in melee by the Warden but I retaliated with G-man putting 20 wounds on it and leaving it at 1 at which point the aggressors finshed it off.

Turn 5 had me save at least 9 consecutive 3++ and G-man only took 1 dmg from both shooting and melee from the last remaining Crusader. In return he did 24-28 unsaved wounds and wiped it from full hp.

 

It was a hilarious and swingy game, and we both had a great time. Only 1 explosion sadly, but it was from the Valiant is was huge!

 

This was my first game with the new codex and Aggressors can really open walking metal cans in melee, especially if you run the UM relic banner for +1 attack giving you 6 PF attacks on the Sarge and 5 on the remaining members whenever shock assault is in play.

YITHI Did some more work with my nephew on his fourth company smurf army, we got a tactical squad base coated also got a fully magnetized terminator assault squad and a terminator captain painted up with just the chapter markings left to do, having said that i just spotted a purity seal i missed on the captain

TITH, I finished up my Magos Dominus, and set aside money to buy a friend of mine the Iron Father that's dropping soon; both of these actions were part of a big bits trade.

TITH I worked up a 30K game for my first game of the league. Got stomped by Perturabo himself but it was at least a thing.

Lot of weird stuff: Perturabo standing up to 9 rapid fire combi plasma guns that hit on 2+ and taking 3 wounds only to charge a squad and get held up by a single rank and file sergeant which he struggled to kill. Pert's orbital barrage drifting 12" then drifting further with every extra blast. A Sicaran arcus that took 2 full rounds of shooting from a predator squadron and an outflanking Land Raider only to break down on a few oil barrels. The memory of why phosphex was banned after 1 shot killed a warlord, apothecary, and almost the rest of a 20 man squad. And half a space marine army running away.

Was still a ton of fun.

I got all my bits orders and my FW SoH heads and transfers in today. I finished up tow conversions, one Primaris Captain and one Primaris Lieutenant. Korsarro is such a great mini, I knew I had to use him as my Captain, Lt is a very plain model he needs some kind of work done to him. Was a bit depressing that the head was attached to Mallex, I ended up butchering up the mini trying to remove it without damaging the head. Hopefully I will have these painted in the next week or two, then paint up my 10 intercessors, start building my hellblasters.
