Evil Eye
TITHI started painting this RT Howling Banshee I had on my desk. Giving her a sort of pearl/prismatic effect on her armour, starting with Dreadful Visage over the white primer and glazing with blue, yellow and white for the highlights. 3 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6188704 Share on other sites
deathspectersgt7
received my Helion Legion and Campaign decals. Lathe Biosas
My test model for what would be an Army of the Dead Custodes (lead by a very human Inquisitor). I'm not loving it like I thought I would. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6188949 Share on other sites
MoriyaSchism
Have you tried Aethermatic Blue over light grey or white? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6188976 Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
No, I haven't. Would that look good? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6188982 Share on other sites
MoriyaSchism
It should be lighter and a lot more ethereal looking. I think a lighter colour looks better for ghosts, but it's up to you in the end. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6188987 Share on other sites
Lathe Biosas
I think so too. This guy looks like a brick of jade. Not at all like the spectral forces I was aiming for. I primed my Custodes in grey seer. Is that a problem? The Yncarne
You could try Army Painter Sea Foam. It’s what I used for these. Then I did a quick drybrush. Evil Eye
TITHI am contemplating martyrdom due to being forced to wait in tomorrow for a can of WD-40 to arrive so I can fix my 3D printer (two screws I need to remove to replace a part will not budge) and also managing to get horrendous orange peel with Chaos Black spray, which has up to this point been foolproof. Today is just not going very well. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6189318 Share on other sites
Evil Eye
False alarm; primer mostly self-levelled and what little peel remained was easily solved with 1000-grit sanding sponges. Yay! Also, managed to get this shoota boy from black primer to almost finished in the span of an evening. Needs a few more details doing and some minor cleanup but he's nearly ready for basing and varnish! 6 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6189364 Share on other sites
Doghouse
TITH I have been extremely busy of late with real life and an unexpected stint in hospital but I am considering 20mm 40k as a side project while recovering. 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190158 Share on other sites

I think I said elsewhere but classic old scale Astartes work surprisingly well for 25mm according to a friend of mine. Regardless that sounds a very cool idea! WBRBloom
Big shout out to my lovely wife who got me an architectural/designer's lamp, that does not produce any shadows, for my birthday, and I've been painting like crazy! My original lights feel like little Christmas lights, compared to that: With the light turned off: With the light turned on: 5 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190173 Share on other sites

Lathe Biosas
Today I was helping my family clean up a room when I found this: Sorry for the blurry photo, Im not sure if it is supposed to be a Christmas gift, or they forgot to give it to me for my birthday. 1 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190355 Share on other sites
Evil Eye
TITHI tested out a new resin, Sunlu ABS-like. Holy =][=BLEEP=][= it's great! Need to dial in settings a little but it's both amazingly forgiving to print with AND feels properly strong. And it was only £35 for a 3KG bottle! I printed out a pair of Scrungaloids with it, and also this kitbash I made from some true-scale legs and a biker torso scan. Shoulder pad is my old resin (Siraya Navy Grey) as I had it in the stash and forgot to print a new one...whoops! 3 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190489 Share on other sites
lhg033
TITH I added to my pile of potential of Guard with a few bits I've wanted to fill out : 2x Chimeras and some Bulgryns Hobby Craft have an early offer for members of £10 off if you spend £40 or more.... So I spent 3 lots of £40 ish as separate transactions (free delivery!) to get each one at nearly 25% off and collected points for another £5+ in vouchers I can spend at other times... I think there is a day or so left of the deal in case anyone else wants to take advantage of it. I now need to start building some of the guard stuff I have! 1 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190575 Share on other sites

Also finally got Tau Hammerhead commander proper and from germany arrived old company champion. Helmet taken from armageddon captain and debating if i will carve out left shoulder pad for something else. 4 1 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190578 Share on other sites

I'm REALLY looking forward reading this! Nice; I read that many years ago and it's a fantastic book! YITHI printed this delightful thing by Dr. Spork on MMF. Probably going to use it for non-40K homegrown scifi to be honest, but it's very obviously inspired by the deodorant stick grav-tank and I was pondering using it for 40K so it belongs here. And more to the point it's a beauty! Scrungaloids for scale (I love Scrungaloids). 1 2 Back to top Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/274679-today-in-the-hobby-i/page/463/#findComment-6190898 Share on other sites
