Dark Mechanicus project - Something binary this way comes...

Thanks a lot guys! :-)

I was sitting in my local gaming club last night at the paint table, and was too tired (I just started my easter vacation today - yay!) to get some serious painting done, so I borrowed a screamer from a friend there, to test out a colour scheme I've had i my mind for some time, using mostly my airbrush. It turned out annoyingly good, and very quick, less than half an hour total.

Now, be nice, and tell me that I don't need a speedpainted Tzeentch Daemon army...

On the one hand, that screamer looks spectacularly good -- easily one of the best painted ones I have seen so far. Amazing!

On the other hand, it somehow feels like your converting and kitbashing talents would be wasted on a Tzeentchian Daemon army, so I'd probably prefer you to stay on track as well ;)

But...but...if you move on to another army how else will I have nightmares every time I see something new in this thread?

Oh that's right whatever you make next will be just as awesome and still bring fear to our hearts. thumbsup.gif

that helbrute is just fantastic. I'm struggling to find all the parts though, i see the legs are sentinel, but cant make out the armour plates covering them. Arms look like from the maulerfiend kit?   Crazy good stuff!

I'm really impressed with what you did with the juggerlord too. I had considered doing the same for my chosen lord but went foot instead as i wasnt confident in my ability. Clearly a mistake after seeing yours.

Thanks guys - I like the way it looks, but I think it'll be a sideproject if I go ahead with it - my black heart belongs to the Dark Mechanicus. ;)

Thanks a lot! The leg armour plates are from the Dreadknight kit, turned upside down, and with some sculpted trims and chaos arrow added. The arms are indeed magmacutter arms from the maulerfiend, as are the shoulder pads.

As for the juggerlord, go ahead and give it a shot - it's not a very complicated conversion. :)

Demon allies sure, to give yourself something to work on when your not feeling up to converting nasty evil metal bits. As great as your Dark Mechanicus are  demon allies could give you something to work on when your feeling uninspired or want to paint other colors.

Exactly. That's how I look at it too. Have enough of painting armour. Go for some fleshy daemons.

Emperor Protect Us All!!!!!!

Amazing work, everything is top notch.

I love that your walkers are so big that they use banners a loin clothes.

Now I'm off to re-read your Deathguard Thread looking for cool infantry to pillage hehehe

this is the thread I would link to my friends to win them over to 40k

(we'll just let them figure out they dont come like this out of the box lol)

This thread made me cry. I just scrolled through it and looked at the pics and I'm just... I... I cry with joy and happiness!

When I get home I'll throw away my tools and never again work on a single miniature :D

This is just way beyond awesome.

Okay - I have just been through your thread and run out of likes for the day!! Each and every-single-thing here is of the highest caliber; an absolute joy to look at, the vision, conversion execution to the painting. Biggest kudos ever thumbsup.gif

The method is very simple:

1) Basecoat AV Tinny Tin (GW Tin bitz)

2) Drybrush GW Shining Gold

3) Drybrush (very lightly, only edges should get picked out) AV Gold (very light gold colour)

4) Heavy wash of Army Painter Strong Tone (Devlan mud)

5) Drybrush AV Gold again

6) Paint middle of trims with Seraphim Sepia

7) Pick out rivets with badab black.

I think it's a great method to getting great gold, with barely any precision painting = very easy, very quick.

Is AV valejo colors? Also, very inspiring conversions!
