Ugh...Why do I not have your skill brother? It pains me...

@Kol:

Damn! Who else is doing armored shock groups?

I'm sure Kol doesn't know since my WIP is weak compared to most but My Ultramarines are Siegebreakers/ shock troops as well.

But I digress. Your stuff is excellent all around, and i'd consider it an honor to fight it.

It's ok mate. No harm no foul. Unless I misinterpreted that face.

I'm not sure I can interpret that face..... I think it's a mixture of "I'm not special anymore" "Oh why?" and "I swear I didn't know because I only look at Night Lord WIPs so please don't hurt me. I'm fragile. And sensitive." I think. It's all conjecture.
No not yet, their first true test will probably be getting thrown headlong into a campaign fighting alongside my best friend's Word Bearers against two Space Marine Chapters and Eldar. Gonna be brutal lol

Please kill the pointy ears for me. *grumble* Wiped out my army, frakking wave serpents... A whole Company, heavy casualties *grumble*

Hey man,

I just wanted to say that your army is incredible. The concepts and conversion work behind each marine is incredible, and the painting is solid as well. I love your fluff introduction to your models as well, it gives them even more character. You're a pretty decent writer as well. I loved "you dropped something." Actually made me laugh out loud.

In short, kudos my man. Really looking forward to more of these. I hope by early next year to have a Carcharadon force up and running. Maybe one day they'll catch up with your Night Lords, and end that misguided wretch, Skaros :biggrin.:

@goosey_j:

I'm glad you enjoy the fluff, this is the first army that I've really cared to name anyone in so I decided to go full bore and name them all lol. Glad to hear you're making a Carcharodons force, they are one of my favorite loyalist chapters, hence the inclusion of Skaros as a character in my warband. As to your boys catching Skaros, well....

Now for update time! Sorry it's been a bit since the last one guys, got some new tattoo work done so my hobbying arm wasn't feeling up to the usual workload. However I'm back up to 100% and ready to get running. Without further ado, I bring you:

Kol Saresk, Sergeant, 2nd Claw, 15th Company, VIII Legion Astartes.

Should be getting this dude painted this afternoon, with some accompanying fluff. As always C&C much appreciated. Ave Dominus Nox.

Kol, you have got to be all kinds of flattered how nice is your namesake? put together from a veritable smorgas board of choice bits, MkIV helmet, MKIII torso, MKV legs that's all my favourite armour bits right there! then you've got  the custom backpack,k warp talon claw, raptor bolt pistol and trophies a plenty.

All in all very cool.

Brother H I hereby appoint you to the rank of kitbash sensei 1st dan.

N.B. this rank has little meaning out side of my imagination so don't put it on your CV.

Pssh. I can afford some sentimentality because I can take them. With this claw, I shall rip the heart of all my would-be killers. And then, with all my might and with all my soul, I will throw it a Guardsman and watch them cry.

How have I missed this thread? How!?!?  Outstanding and inspirational. I'll echo my mate, Nighthunters, question: That lightning claw? Have to know where you came up with that.  I'll definitely keep following this one. Well done.

Gunfire flashed in the darkness. Lines of tracer fire crossed one another in the streets of the dying city. Shu'kan clenched his teeth as he let loose another thundering burst from his bolter. Before he could duck back into cover, a bolt shell smashed into the ferrocrete window sill, spraying razor sharp splinters in his face. As the minuscule cuts his onyx visage quickly healed, the Salamander glanced across the room with his burning gaze. Huddled in the corner was a small group of civilians, hands covering their ears from the deafening firefight.

"Shu'kan! We can't stay here! The right flank is folding!"

The voice of N'kul cut across the room from the other window. Hefting his massive multi-melta, the other warrior fired a blinding blast at the enemy tank rolling into the square. The searing blast struck the tank in the front armor and penetrated with the ease of a hot knife trough butter. The air inside the tank ignited in flash and detonated it's ammunition stores, blasting it apart from inside. As pieces of shrapnel rained down, Shu'kan glanced across the square and saw two more tanks advance through the wreckage of the first.

"Alright, it's time to move! Citizens with me! My brothers and I will shield you, this building is no longer safe!"

The terrified people nodded their heads quickly, fear making their eyes wide and movements hurried. Unlike many of their fellow chapters, the Salamanders were the guardians of humanity. Let the Templars and Wolves be the crusaders and conquerers, the sons of Vulkan would be the strength of those who had none. As the civilians exited the building, shielded between the remnants of the Space Marine squad, a shot from one of the traitor tanks blew out the room where they had taken refuge. Running through the alleyways of the sprawling city, the people took comfort from the presence of the massive, armored warriors guarding them. A little girl, clutched in her mothers arms, looked up at Shu'kan's menacing features with eyes full of terror. Noticing the child's gaze, Shu'kan smiled back, his teeth flashing white against his onyx skin. The child, though scared, managed a weak smile in response. She was a brave one, Shu'kan knew she would make it through this hell.

Suddenly a flash of green light flared from the front of the column. In the wake of the flash, Shu'kan saw the ruined form of N'kul strewn on the ground, a molten hole blasted in his chest. A heartbeat later bolter fire ripped through the group, cutting down civilians and Marines alike. Shu'kan roared in fury and opened fire, shoving the mother and her screaming child behind his armored form. The ambush had been well planned, funneled into the narrow alleyway, they were being slaughtered by the enfilading bolter fire. Bolt rounds punched into his chest, shoulders and thighs, shattering his armor and making him roar in pain. If they didn't move they were all dead. Lowering his wounded shoulder, Shu'kan smashed a open one of the walls.

"Get inside! Now!"

The mother grabbed her crying daughter and ran through the hole into the darkness beyond. His brothers were all dead or dying, spending their lifeblood attempting to shield the civilians. Bolter fire still rained down the alley as Shu'kan ducked into the breach in the wall. He glanced around quickly, looking for the girl and her mother.

"Where are you little one? We need to hurry!"

A sound like boulders grinding echoed around the room. Shu'kan realized with a start that it was vox-distorted laughter.

"Looking for these, Salamander?"

With a flair of emerald light, the power field of a lightning claw activated across the room. Illuminated by it's ghostly glow, a massive warrior stood in baroque, studded armor. A pair of chiropteran wings arched above his midnight helm and at his feet, in a spreading pool of blackened blood, lay the mother and her child.

Shu'kan roared in devastated fury and brought his bolter to bare. Squeezing the trigger, he fired the remainder of his ammunition at the murderous warrior. His enemy however, was fast, even for an Astartes. As Shu'kan attempted to draw a bead on the speeding warrior he realized too late, that he had underestimated his opponent. He had a moment to think of drawing his chainsword before the dark warrior's lightning claw flashed. With a grunt he dropped his bolter and fell to his knees. Looking down he saw the massive wound torn in his abdomen where, to his horror, loops of intestine had started to emerge from the ragged cuts. He raised his head to look at the murderer standing above him, his twin hearts pounding in his ears. The warrior spoke with a mocking voice like distant thunder.

"I see your kind still die just as easily as they did on the black sands of Istvaan V. So much for the vaunted sons of Vulkan."

Shu'kan snarled in defiance, even as his gene-forged body attempted to repair the massive trauma it had suffered.

"My death means nothing, the fireborn endure, though I can't say the same for VIII Legion. No one even knows your name Night Lord."

The warrior brought his glowing, emerald talon to Shu'kan's throat.

"Well then let me introduce myself, I am Kol Saresk."

With a flash, the Night Lord closed his claw.

Evening gents, it's update time! I bring you Kol Saresk, Sergeant of 2nd Claw, 15th Company of the Night Lords legion. This has reallt been a labor of love for me. I have a perfectionist streak a mile wide, so I simply couldn't follow Vadrek with an average kitbash with some sub-par GS work. Thus I wen back to the drawing board and completely rebuilt Kol from the ground up. For those of you wondering his lighting claw comes from the new plastic raptors kit, lots of great stuff in there including out own set of running/jumping legs (finally).

For the short piece of fluff I was inspired by the fact that I'm reading through Vulkan Lives at the moment. Honestly I haven't been impressed so far, I feel like Kyme's writing has kind of gone downhill. I remember Salamander being an awesome read, this has really just not been an engrossing read at all, his metaphors feel confusing and long-winded, as do his descriptions, plus repeated spelling errors ruin a book for me. Anyways this isn't a review or anything, but the book pissed me off so much so, that I decided to write about dying Salamanders to assuage my anger lol. Hope you enjoy.

Enough talk, here's some models:

Also here's another update on my other irons in the fire:

I've decided to re-vamp three of the Atramentar using the new Deathwing legs for a more dynamic pose. The Chaos Terminator legs are starting to look a little dated and kind of static, so in classic Heinrich fashion I couldn't let average models be. More to come soon, stay tuned, as always C&C much appreciated.

Ave Dominus Nox.
