VIII Legion 96th Company/ I Legion 74th Company

"The Horus Heresy was never about Horus.  Chaos knew that the part of the Emperors plan was to reunite man, but also to rid the universe of the Four Powers of Ruin.  Thus he outlawed religion, because he knew religion was mans weakness.  So the ruinous powers retreated or so it seemed and slowly worked their way back into those from history.  But did you ever stop and think that Chaos got what they wanted."  The Night Lord leaned in close to the flayed Cardinal and continued "They never cared that Horus would fail.  They just wanted the war to continue forever, and they know how man is."  The Night Lord laughs through his speaker helm as the Cardinal lays there without eyelids.

 

Standing up he turns and walks towards a wall with a collection of knives some known to man others never seen by mortal man before.  Picking up another knife he walked back to the Cardinal and continues "Those little miracles done by man during the Heresy that were the founding of your little religion.  Think about it for a second Cardinal with this question as I continue my work.  How were they done by the Emperor while he was not yet put on the Golden Throne."

Four times he has fought Lucius and four times he has survived, simply because he allows someone else to get the final kill against him.  Unfortunately this time it was just Quintus and Lucius.  Commander of the forth Claw, Quintus has led his men against the Imperium for so many years and from time to time against other Chaos warriors and it seems that the Chaos Gods just want Quintus to kill Lucius.  

 

"Come now Lucius did the cut on the throat take away your witty comebacks."  Quintus blocks a downwards slash but already was turning his blade to stop the whip from catching his leg.  "Lucius you do the same thing every time we fight for one of the Emperors Children best swordsmen, you really do suck at this."  Quintus knows that to defeat Lucius was to become Lucius three of his fellow Night Lords fell for it already he would not become the forth but without one of those damned Black Legionnaires around to finish this for him he will end up kill Lucius.

 

A com-link pops up in his helm one of his men is on his way to help, "No Cornion, this is my fight alone."  It was to late Cornion was already jumping over the pile of rubble with a cross ward slash against Lucius back armor.  Now it was two on one and all were extremely talented swordsmen.  "Enough of this."  Quintuss takes two steps back as he takes his bolt pistol out and puts a bullet in both of Lucius legs.  "Cornion, leave him we have other targets let one of those damned Black Legionnaires enjoy their kill our job was ambush not fight this war for them."

 

Cornion stops mid-strike and steps back as well as they both walk off Lucius finally says "co-ww-aa-rds", Cornion turns but Quintus stops him with his hand and says to Cornion "Let him stay there, he is not as good as everyone thinks he is."  Cornion only nods and walks away back over the pile to rejoin the Night Lords gathering by the Thunderhawk

 

Quintus looks back at Lucius and says "I will radio the Black Legionnaires your location, I am sure their damned sorcerers will love to get a hold of you."  He turns back to his gathering men and walks away radioing the Black Legion.  

 

Lucius is on the other side screaming with pure anger "I WILL FIND YOU QUINTUS AND I SHALL KILL YOU AND YOUR ENTIRE LEGION ONE MAN AT A TIME.....DO YOU HEA....GET AWAY FROM YOU YOU FALLEN BLACK SCUM LEGION.  AT LEAST MY PRIMARCH IS STILL ALIVE."

Welp my total so far on Night Lords comes to 50+ Legionnaires.  5 Full Claws with another guy to replace the heavy weapon guys.  On top of the Terminators I will be repainting giving me 10+ Atramentar lead by the guy up there.  They are only body guards not commanders of a Company.

 

Now then...bits of fluff and what not

The 96th Company of Night Lords was one of the last companies created before the Night Lords destroyed their homeworld.  Now because of this small factor there were not many Terrans part of the company, of 150 only 10 were from Terra.  And at this point only 4 are alive.

 

Yes they will be painted and the Apothecary will be repainted haha...he was a test model a few years back.

 

 

4th Claw Champion Quintus Octavius

Having fought at the walls of Terra Quintus personally claimed two heads from Champions from Dorn's Legion who names he cannot remember anymore.  All he knows is war everlasting.  He has run across Lucius on four different occasions and won in combat but never delivered the killing blow against him instead allowed someone else to claim that right and then later become him again.  

 

"Serious Lucius we both know how this ends, just walk away."

Apothecary Noris "The Skintaker" "Chuck"

Trained along side Fabius Bile and other well known Apothecaries on Terra, Noris soon became one of the mostly highly skilled field medics that was part of the Night Lords Legion.  His nicknames are from his habits he garnered while serving with the 2nd and now 96th Companies.  While serving with the 2nd company his work on the field was so fast it would seem that he would "Chuck" parts of the marines behind him to get to the parts that needed to be fixed so the marine would be able to live on and continue his work for the Primarch.  The name "The Skintaker" he gained after the Horus Heresy while fighting Eldar Aspect Warriors after battles with the Eldar he would pull one or two to the side and examine their bodies and how they worked as well as collect their spirit stones, as well as a 2x2 section of their skin from somewhere on their body and put in his case.  When he returns to the Companies Strike Crusiers he takes the sample out and does an assortment of test on it for his own reasoning.  As for the Eldar Spirt stones he does not do it for his own collection but when he gather 100 stones he would leave them on a planet they were leaving that he had fought the Eldar on.  He will not give a reason to why he does that but two Night Lords has lost hands and had to have them replaced with bionics because they had tried to touch the stones.

Atramentar Marcus Aurelius

One of the few Night Lords to have fought along side the Emperor and still follow his legion into Hell.  Never a supporter Zso Sahaal, Marcus was one of the few that Jago would confide in concerning their Primarch, to have him replaced with a smooth talking Terran is mattered not they were both from Terra and they were trained together so long ago...He would never gain the respect that Sevatar had from the Legion.

 

Marcus has been known to say something to a dying commander of the enemy armies "Death smiles at all of us, all we can do is smile back."  Which is usually followed by killing them.

"The Specialist"

During the retreat from Terra "The Specialist" was hit in his helmet shattering it from a stray bolter round.  He was saved by "The Skintaker" at cost of his memory.  He remembers his training as well as fighting along side the Night Haunter on one occasion but other then that all he knows now is he is the best Heavy Weapons person the 96th Company has and always has had.  Able to put down enough fire to cover any advance from his fellow Legionnaires with his converted heavy bolter.  When missions call for no heavy weapons usage he is one of the most able Legionnaires in the Company either cover fire from the bolter, or silent kills with his knife work or setting up demolitions.  Some say he was once part of the Atramentar, but the Atramentar that are with the Company never give a yes or a no on the question.

 

"I'll be there in six minutes.  Seven if there is resistance.  Eight, if the resistance is using bolters."

2nd and 3rd Claw...I know have 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th Claw

 

One of the Night Lords Companies to assault the walls of Terra was the 96^th Company.  Being able to breach into the walls of the Palace thru a second entrance, while the main breach was assaulted by the World Eaters and the other Legions.  Over 150 Night Lords made their way into the Palace killing all that stood in their way, it was mostly Imperial
Military units that were made short work of but a few Sons of Dorn were found defending sections they went through. 

After what seemed like hours of constant fighting they finally made it to where the Custodes stood guard.  A ten man squad was simply waiting for the company of Night Lords.  Both sides clashed into each other for every Custode killed by the Night Lords four of their own men would die.  After the fight the companies Apothecaries went to work collecting their fallen brothers Gene Seed as we as the Custodes own Gene Seed both for future use. 

 

At this point over the com units of both the Night Lords and Custodes gear news of the Emperors victory over the traitors was told, as well as the Traitor Legions Warmaster Horus was killed and the Traitors were escaping.  The remaining Night Lords grabbed their fallen brother’s bodies and escaped back to their Strike Cruiser, where they fled from the Sol System alongside other Night Lord ships.

I have about 2 more claws worth of Marines I found yesterday that were part of an old Word Bearers project that will be converted over to the Night Lords soon...as well as the Word Bearers that were painted up...giving me 30 more marines to use for the Night Lords project...

 

glad I did not but those upgrade sets of the Night Lords...9x20=180...plus tax...plus another 2 sets for future use...220 for upgrades...I have spent $4 on quick steel for the 30 pads I made...

Even as the man was falling, he turned to the rest of the squad hidden behind cover and pulled the trigger.  First man, head shot right through the right eye lens, exploding, second man through his throat and into the third with a single bullet killing them both.  By now the other two were turning weapons raising at a new foe, the forth in the legs soft armour with his 3^rd and 4^th shots the final guy was hit by the next 5 shots all center mass.

The Night Lord walks over to his kills and turns as his brothers catch up with him “Well done Brother Specialist.  One day we might even allow you a real name…hahahaha” the rest of 6^th claw joins in the laugh.  The Specialist only nods his helmet.  

 

Champion Nestor walks over and places his boot on one of the dead Ultramarines and says “New armour for the techs and gene seed for the fodder.  Well done all, but there are others to kill that was only six marines and we all know there is four more to go.  He who bags the most has first rights to the armour upon our return to the ship.”

Brother Specialist simple reloads and stalks back into the early morning haze.  Within moments he drops to a crouch his power armour buzzing in his ears but it is more than that.  His brothers had gone another direction to cut them off and kill them in a crossfire towards a valley.  No this was four more Astartes with almost brand new armour.  The Specialist grins under his helmet and unsheathes his knife.  Slowly he makes his way towards the sound he hears, all four in a circle talking and whispering to each other without their helmets on.  Brother Specialist sights his bolter on the melta gun wielder pulls the trigger, head shot.  Turns ever so slightly pulls the trigger the other marine is down.  The Sergeant charges and screams at the Night Lord.  Brother Specialist simply drops his bolter to the ground ducks to the left of the overhead swing of a chainsword and slams his knife into the sergeant’s skull, killing him instantly.  Brother Specialist is then tackled into the ground and feels armored fist slamming into his helmet, bucking the other marine off of him Brother Specialist stands up as he picks up his knife out of the sergeants skull, turns to the Ultramarine and throws the knife dead center of the helmet right through the armour and into the marines skull.

 

“It is done brothers.  Come gather these fools, I care not who gets what.”  Brother Specialist says into his com unit as he gathers his bolter and knife and begins his walk back to the units Rhino parked four clicks away.

yeah I picked up a set of them back before "Finecast"....sooo all metal...got a few bodies I used for stuff still have a few bodies left with my pile of BA stuff...

Two were all it took to stand guard at the outpost.  Marines from the VIII Legion of the 96th Company seemed completely at ease.  One leaning against the wall next to his modified heavy bolter as he sharped his blade that never needed sharping, while the other played a card game on the table in front of him.

"Brother?  Answer me a question if you could."  The Card playing Marine looked up at his fellow Legionaries and said "ask away no name fool" he snickers and goes back to his game "ask your stupid question specialist.  But we all know the same thing."

 

"Actually brother I think that maybe you might have an answer to this question of mine."  Brother Specialist sheathes his knife and grabs his bolter and his oil rag and starts to polish his bolter as he looks down the sights towards the far wall.  "I have an idea of which Squad I was originally from.  But what throws me off is that I do not think I was part of this company until we left Terra.  Explain to me brother why I would think that?"  The card playing Marine stops and folds his cards onto the table takes his helmet off and says
"because you are a fool and they should have left you to die on that cursed planet."

Brother Specialist takes his helmet off "I may have actually be waiting and bidding my time...maybe looking for the perfect time to ask questions out of the hearing of others that should not know what we know...for example...The Soul Hunter...tell me brother Tavlion...what about the 10th companies Apothecary can you tell me...anything important."  Tavlion grabs for his bolter but stops as he feels Brother Specialist knife at his throat.  "Did you think that maybe the memories would not come back to me?  All those years ago there were only four marines from other companies that joined the 96th company, three joined and helped create the structure and command.  One was found with the Custodes and then shot in the head by his own brother.  I killed six custodes by myself after my claw died.  they were lead into an ambush by you Tavlion.  Did you think I would never reclaim my memories of those days?  That all I remember was fighting by the Night Haunter and my training, you are more of a fool then even those Raven Guard marines for the 12^th claw.  We both know what happens to fools in the 96^th company do we not Tavlion.  They get shot in the head and left for dead.”

 

Tavlion tries to speak over the blade by each word only cuts him deeper "What I did...I did for The Exaulted...I was suppose to join his warband...as we left Terra...but that fool...Brother Noris found you...somewhat alive after my bullet...it seemed did not shatter...your helmet only knocked you down...for the count...Noris found you...but your id code destroyed...but only a night lord could have...gotten so far...that and...you wearing our colors...he saved your life and...sergeant quintus grabbed you himself...and brought you back to our Thunderhawk."

 

Brother Specialist takes his knife away from Tavlions throat and as Tavlion relaxes just enough the blade slips through the side of his soft armour under the arm pits and through both of his hearts.  "Well then brother, you should have killed me when you had the chance because like I said fools get a bullet to the head.  You however brother, are more than
a fool you are completely diluted moron and they are left for the wolves.”

Brother Specialist takes Tavlions Bolter and weapons and maglock’s Tavlions bolter to his other leg as he gathers his Heavy Bolter up they hear the first howl.  Brother

Specialist looks back at Tavlion and says “Enjoy your next five minutes brother.  They shall be your last.”

 

Brother Specialist exits the bunker and relies into his com unit “Bunker 4-3 compromised, minus one heading to fall back point alpha.”  Over the com unit “Acknowledged”.  As Brother Specialist heads to fall back point alpha he turns back to Bunker 4-3 to see Talvion crawl out of the bunker and push himself up onto the wall looking right at Brother Specialist he tries to say something but is suddenly stopped as his body jerks twice and falls his knees, four Space Wolves charge into the falling Night Lord
body.  Brother Specialist plants his feet and pulls the trigger kill all five instantly from rounds in the heavy bolter.  He turns and trots off at a leisurely pace.

First of the Fallen Raven Guard I will be building to offset the losses the 96th company has endured in the last 10,000 years...or 400...the warp is a fickle mistress...

Quintus pulls his head back behind the corner as a bolter rips into the wall exploding debris all over Quintus helmet, as he holsters his bolt pistol he unlocks his bolter from the magnet coupler on the side of his leg and checks the chamber.  He then hears the gun fire go silent he waits for a second to see if they are reloading but instead hears chainsword striking ceramite armour.  Maglocking his bolter back to his thigh he turns the corner and unsheathes his power sword and charges into the melee. 

Six Black armored Marines are slashing and smashing their way through Ultramarine ranks.  Quintus retina display locks onto fourteen Ultramarine targets…twelve Ultramarine targets and six non-enemy Raven guard units.  Quintus jumps over the ignored barricade followed by half of his claw as they charge full force into the Ultramarines left standing.   His power sword crashing off a 4th company sergeants own power sword coming in closer still with swords locked,

Quintus grins from under his helmet and simply drops down to the ground making the Ultramarine topple over off balance for half a second.  The Sergeant is then slammed in the chest full force from an activated Thunder Hammer.

Quintus stands up as the last Ultramarine is stabbed under his soft armour and through both hearts by Brother Specialist, who wipes the blood off his knife.  Quintus looks at the Raven Guard and says “was wondering what took you gentlemen so long?”

 

The ex-Ravenguard Sergeant laughs as he takes off his helmet with his red armour hands and says “You would not believe what we had to go through
to get here.”

but honestly I do not know why everyone makes raven guard the first guys for the night lords to offset any loses...what has the raven guard done to make people think this way...

 

Here is what I think...

 

Orginally the Night Lords were like Boba Fett...not suppose to get a lot of air time in the movie...but like boba fett became one of the most famous people in the movie....now everyone is scattering and making up a history...a father...an army...and a father killed night before everything went to hell...
