Hooooly :censored: that's amazing! I can't even wrap my mind around how you painted that.

Very very slowly! :D

I am glad you like though! :)

Last pic for the day!

Not sure about the OSL on the weapon, but I wanted it to look like a once proud weapon being in the beginnings of being corrupted.

I don't normally do OSL... it gets over done!

Work continues!

I have taken a few pics to show the different angles.

Some of the details on this mini are infuriatingly small >.<

This has been err... a challenge.

So Lorgar was one of the first primarchs sculpted, so I dont want to be too judgemental. But as a mini to put together and to paint it isn't that fun. I love him, and I would recommend him to others, but you would be surprised how difficult it is to make him "work" as a model.

Ah well, nearly done now. Just the face and base to do tomorrow!

Okay, so, before the pics, his head isn't glued into place yet. Just testing how it looks and what position to put it before committing to it!

So I tried three things with the head.

The first was different skin tones. I went pretty pale with it first, but it just didn't seem to work for me. I haven't painted him literally golden skinned, but I went for a warmer tone because I just think it suits the palette more. Feel free to disagree with me! :D

Second, I tried green OSL from below his head. It looked derpy as hell and was the equivalent of a 4 year old putting a towel round his neck and saying "look im a baddie".

Third, the script. You can probably tell from the side view that I have painted over the script I did on his head. I know he is covered in script, I know it's a bad ass concept, but it made an already very busy model look too busy. I was happy with how it looked on it's own, but when I put it on the model to test it, I didn't like it. I guess I will just say it is so faint you can't see it. I may have another run at it too. Early days yet!

The paintjob is absolutely stunning -- and your misgivings seem entirely unfounded in hindsight. He's looking stellar, as are all your models.

I think the head works really well, even without any golden skin or scripture. Have you thought about adding the scars from Corvus' LC attack, though? And while I realise that the angle of the yet isn't permanent yet, I would definitely change it. Putting it at an angle like that makes Lorgar look like he cannot make up his mind about something ;)

Truly excellent! You've done a fantastic job on the face, by the way: He looks grimly determined to doing what must be done, something that seems very fitting, given Lorgar's motivation in the backstory. Of course the armour is rather marvelous, too.

The big display base does seem slightly barren, but that's not really your fault.

I'd sooner forget the whole Corvus thing, so no scars :P

I am glad you like but I will say a few things about the model.

First, it's a great but frustrating model. You should all go buy it and find out why. Second, I don't really get it at all. From what I have read (which is everything) about Lorgar, he is meant to have very unadorned armour. Very low key and very warrior priest like. This model is so bling it made my eyes bleed a little. In some places I feel like it is trying to do too much. The shoulder pad with the book on is crazy fiddly. The gold on his chest is too.

Either way, I am glad he is done. I think I need to make some chaos spawn next, after that it's either Erebus and Kor Phaeron or a fire raptor!

Ta man! :D

The bit I like the most is from an angle his eyes look really dark, but straight on they don't. I don't normally have favourite bits of my own paint jobs, I am hyper critical, but I am happy with how that turned out! :D

I need to have a think about the base. I reckon I can do some more with it.

Regarding the amount of decoration on the armour, I distinctly remember several scenes in both Betrayer and Aurelian where an attack actually tears off some of the oath papers affixed to Lorgar's armour -- so there is some mention of him bearing some kind of decoration on his armour, after all. Maybe it's something he started after starting to delve into the Primordial Truth...?!

Welcome to the Word Bearers! Best. Legion. Ever.

Aye, forget the Templars, Word Bearers invented Astartes Zeal.

I have started some spawn!

http://www.golden-throne.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/spawn1.jpg

I'm trying to strike a blance between table top and half decent quality with these. I just have so much stuff I suddenly need to get painted, on top of work, that I can't spend as much time as I would like on these gribbly fellas!

Haha thanks man, it isn't finished yet so you may want to reserve judgement!

Plus... I don't think I have ever had some say a chaos spawn was beautifull!.. unless you mean Lorgar? :O
