Greetings! I am building my first ever 40K army, though I am an experienced painter and WHFB player.

I like the White Scars, but always have to put my own spin on things, so I will be creating a successor chapter: the Storm Brothers. I will be following the WS codex 100%, so only painting/modeling tweaks.

My original thought was purple and gray, with yellow highlights, but the test model came out too dark for my taste. So I have used the awesome SM Painter to try out a lighter gray, more of it, and more yellow. I like this version a lot- I think it will paint well, show up strongly on the table, but not be too "busy".

Opinions welcome!

Thanks! I am still working on the details for companies- sgts will have a red faceplate and red skull in the middle of the eagle; possibly a red right knee with squad markings? Still working on that. Veterans will have a red stripe on the top of the helmet, and some sort of...something. I want there to be an item of some sort.

Chapter marking is just a big ol' yellow lightning bolt- wanted something simple and bold; easy to paint cleanly and sculpt/plasticard.

Hey everyone! I was cleaning out some stuff and came across a surprise terminator! I don't even know where this guy came from, but I thought it was a good excuse to try out my color scheme.

Definitely like this better than my original dark version-- the light gray looks good in real life, but just looks like white in the picture. No highlights or anything yet, just a color test.

Comments welcome!

Also, bits!

My only issue is it needs depth great scheme but it needs a wash or two.

The yellow pops out against the purple for me it doesn't blend when ones that dark and ones that bright I love the colour scheme though.

I hope this works for you ;)

Thanks- the colors in the picture aren't accurate (iPhone). Once I have it shaded and highlighted I will use a real camera.

Yes, the bases are bike sized- from one of my very favorite companies: micro arts studio.

Any idea what the doohickey coming off his head is?

Hey all-- found a baggie labeled "attack bike"-- and sure enough, it seems to be a SM attack bike! No instructions, though...

Can anyone help me identify what these extra bits are for?

Thanks!

From Left to Right: Spare old-school bolter, The Left and right-hand Twinlinked bolters for the main part of the bike (as seen here), I'm not completely sure on these, but I think they are the outer lugnuts for the outside wheel of the atack bike, and the last two things are from the old Chaplain on a bike sprue, another spare bolter and his grenade/assault launcher.

Ah, thanks! I figured out the twin bolters-- but the picture helps. The lug nuts are weird, because they are a lot smaller than the ones built into the bike, and it came also with a metal one that fits perfectly. Hmmm. Oh well, into the bits box!

I have it all assembled-- now I am working on magnetizing the weapons on the side car so they can be swapped out. The side car and rider are metal, so they may be too heavy to attach to the bike with magnets, too-- but I am going to try!

Will post picture when it is done.

hey everyone-- I have been working on the terminator, both to brush up on my painting (which is painfully rusty) and to solidify the color scheme in my head.

As I said previously, I will be creating a White Scars successor chapter called the Storm Brothers. I will be using White scars rules 100%. The only deviation will be slight changes in style (not rules) and modeling/fluff. The Storm Brothers have the following characteristics (I will fill out the fluff as I get to know the 40K universe better):

Xenomorph killers: The Storm Brothers are fanatical at rooting out and destroying alien incursions, particularly Orks and Tyranids

Fanatic: Storm Brothers are a deeply devoted Chapter, and never go to battle without a Chaplain

Lightning: Their Chapter motto is, "We are the Lightning Strike". Like their progenitor White Scars, they hit fast and hard-- however, they also excel at striking at a distance, and will have more sniper rifles, missile launchers and long-range weapons than a typical White Scars detachment will (still deciding on Devastator Squads). Sergeants and HQ will almost always be rewarded with power weapons and/or Lightning Claws. Veterans/Sgts. on bike will have power lances.

Overall, I am happy with how the scheme looks now that it is highlighted. Painting those lightning affects is harder than it looks! Oh well, practice will make better, if not perfect, I hope.

Comments/critiques welcome. Next up, the lone bike in my possession.

So, the attack bike I pieced together is apparently pretty old. I magnetized the two weapons it came with (storm bolter and multi-melt a, I believe). I also magnetized the base of the side-car so can use the bike without it if I choose.

What do you guys think of a tail n the bike? Cool or silly? I like it because it not only ties in with the WS history, but it gives a sense of movement to the bike. I would figure out a way to attach them so they are not just glued there...

Thanks, gents. I am still adjusting to painting all these flat surfaces and highlighting the edges. Purple is a challenging color and the GW line doesn't have a great layer/ highlight color for that deep purple. Also, I was too heavy handed with the nuln oil to shade the base light gray, so it pooled- next time I will just apply it in the creases.

Happy with to way the "lightning forks" came out on the bike- super simple plastic card addition.

What do you think of the horse tail? I like the way it came out, so I suppose that is all that matters, but just curious what the faithful SM commanders think!

As a WS successor I think it's great :)

With the nuln oil maybe thin it with lahmian medium or use a cotton bud to absorb excess that's how I stop it from pooling ;)

As a heretic I'm still amazed at the great scheme you've gone with

I think it' works because they blend well.

But I swear if justin briber starts following this like he started following the lakers I'll have to command that you switch to a different team like the crimson fists! (Hello Red Sox)
