Forté
I might if I figure out a way to do it that I like. We'll see. Vallejo Liquid Gold series "White Gold"?May have to look into that range myself ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281950-battles-of-isstvan-horus-heresy-log/page/2/#findComment-3549301 Share on other sites
Telhdrat
I decided to give it a shot. Here's two WIP shots: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Loyalty%20and%20Treachery/PBWIP2_zpsac20262c.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Loyalty%20and%20Treachery/PBWIP_zps60e65647.jpg I might if I figure out a way to do it that I like. We'll see. Vallejo Liquid Gold series "White Gold"? If only I had ready acces to that series, I'd certainly use it. But as it is a bit hard to get here I'll go with forte's suggestion instead. The SoH recon squad looked a lot more lite AL then the Terminators. The terminators look really good =) Thanks! I did paint them with the same colours, so it's probably my inadequate camera skills making them look different. Forté
Very nice. Had to turn the brightness up on my phone before I noticed the purple (bloody colorblindness). I'm guessing these are still wip? If you are going to be highlighting the purple (which I do recommend for a little more definition), don't use white. I used Space Wolves grey added to the base colour after someone recommended it. Works well and stops it turning pastel or pink. Telhdrat
Yes, still WIP, and I've yet to do the highlights. I've been using Genestealer Puple as a highlight for my EC and I think it works nicely and has the added bonus of me not needing to mix the colour. Forté
Not needing to mix a colour. What is this foul magic you speak off? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281950-battles-of-isstvan-horus-heresy-log/page/2/#findComment-3550117 Share on other sites

Natanael
Nice work. If you blend it carefully I have found that you often don't need to mix the colours. I usually use 2-3 of the GW "layer" colours, and with a careful blending that works fine IMO. Pyromancer
Nice! The gold is very good, but could use a nice wash, and the purple is very nice. Natanael
You speak the truth, forte. Telhdrat
Thanks for your comments everyone! I don't have anything against mixing colours per se, and for example the SoH green is completely a mix. But if there's already a suitable paint in the range why not use it and save some time? Here's the finished squad, that I already posted in the Loyalty and Treachery thread: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Emperors%20Children/PalatineBladespieni_zps016686d0.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Emperors%20Children/PB4pieni_zps970a5cc0.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Emperors%20Children/PB2pieni_zpsef721d99.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Emperors%20Children/PB1pieni_zps3b803dac.jpg Also, Merry Christmas everyone! Telhdrat
Well, the Emperor's Children need someone to unleash all their depravities upon, don't they? Natanael
Those are some nice Iron Hands. I LOVE! the green on the guns, and the brass Cables. Perfect! Telhdrat
Thanks! I really enjoyed painting them and have more Iron Hands in the works. In the meantime here's a Death Guard Tactical Squad that I've been working on for a long time now: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Death%20Guard/DeathGuardTacSquad2pieni_zpsc2dab74b.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Death%20Guard/DeathGuardTacSquad1pieni_zps70051029.jpg There's still more work to be done on them. The sergeant's head needs finishing, and they all need some weathering as well. Telhdrat
More Iron Hands, as promised. An apothecary and a quad heavy bolter Rapier battery: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/Rapiers2pieni_zps05437211.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/Rapiers3pieni_zps22819061.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/ApothecaryWIP2pieni_zps2d461426.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Iron%20Hands/ApothecaryWIP3pieni_zpsf5df8138.jpg I was so eager to paint them, that I forgot to take any WIP pictures, though the apothecary isn't finished yet. He's missing a shoulder pad, as I ran out of Iron Hands shoulder pads, and I haven't even started on the cloak yet. Telhdrat
It's about time I got my Mechanicum detachment started considering how long I've had these guys. Natanael
How much of this stuff do you have? :P I am trying to fit a single squad of Mk III marines into my buget and you have all the fun stuff, hehe. Looing good so far. I cant wait for the mechanicum stuff. Telhdrat
Umm... too much. A quick calculation puts all my HH stuff (painted, unpainted, unassembled, etc) a little over 10 000 points. And I plan on getting more. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281950-battles-of-isstvan-horus-heresy-log/page/2/#findComment-3560385 Share on other sites

Flint13
Oh nice. I like the look of the Thallax in a bronzey color. Most everyone has gone with a more silver or iron look. Telhdrat
I happily except donations if you feel you have too much of a good thing Heh, not that much. Just enough to make me try to keep a break from buying more until I've painted more of what I already have. As if that's going to succeed... Oh nice. I like the look of the Thallax in a bronzey color. Most everyone has gone with a more silver or iron look. Thanks! I did think about it too, but I think I'll get to pain enough iron and silver when I'll soon start on my Iron Warriors. And to be honest I prefer the bronze with mechanicum. Haven't really made any progress on painting this week for various reason (one of which you can find in the Liber Victorium section: http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/285456-horus-heresy-cometh-the-red-angel-picture-heavy/), but last weekend I actually began to paint my Magos alongside the Thallax, and here are the (still WIP) pictures: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/WIPMagos2_zps66e58eb6.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/WIPMagos1_zps25953fc7.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/281950-battles-of-isstvan-horus-heresy-log/page/2/#findComment-3565884 Share on other sites
Telhdrat
Both of my mechanicum units are now ready, just in time for the Loyalty and treachery. Here's the Thallax: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/ThallaxCohort1pieni_zpsc40f2628.jpg And the Magos Dominus: http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/Magos3pieni_zps52cb112e.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/Magos1pieni_zps60a2c5df.jpg http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/ff46/Gorzag_bucket/Horus%20Heresy/Mechanicum/Magos4pieni_zps6c686abe.jpg Next up some Iron Warriors or Iron Hands. Or maybe more mechanicum. Haven't quite decided yet.
