[HH1.0] Iron Hands Tactics

Recommended Posts

I think I have analyzed the Iron Hands Tactics :

1) Be a man and refuse to withdraw

2) Charge Fulgrim

3) Kick the crap outta Fulgrim until he cheats and accepts a daemons help

4) Get killed

5) Get cloned, die

6) Get cloned, die

7) Repeat steps 5 and 6 until hopefully someone writes a epic escape story.

Am I Iron Handsing right ? :biggrin.:

Fixed that for you.

I play smaller games as well and I find just taking Orth in a sicaran is all I need up to 1500. When your warlord is hiding in a AV 13 Armoured ceremite fast vehicle that sticks to cover, there isn't ever any certainty for your opponent to get warlord kill. Especially after Orth gets to try and run away after the sicaran dies. 1500 and up I always try and take a kitted out praetor or Autek Mor WITH Orth cause he is just too good to pass up.

Also what do you guys consider PRIME targets for sicaran battle tanks (no Orth)? I find I always have a plethora of things I want to shoot with it but I never know what to kill first. Seems like they can shoot everything but never excel at a specific role, I know that's kinda the idea but I am just curious where other peoples priorities in shooting lie.

List looks good Raktra! My only thoughts would be trying to give the Spartan Armoured Ceramite. And those 3 Troops would be so much more survivable with Apothecaries, but finding those points is probably not going to happen.

Love the dual TL lascannons on the Contemptor-Mortis Dreadnoughts! I reckon it's a great way to run them.

I assume Autek Mor goes with the Gorgons. What other unit do you give Preferred Enemy to?

And for anyone out there - what type of Terminator armour does the FW Iron Father model have? I really can't tell if it's Tartaros or Cataphractii...

Mor with the Gorgons, and the second buff I swing between giving it to the Breachers and a Tactical Squad. People seem to let the Breachers live longer *shrug*

With armoured ceramite, I find it a bit daft in a lot of cases at the minute. "Take armoured ceramite, meltas!" "Never take meltas, armoured ceramite!". Besides, I needed to make room for the choom.

Iron Father's a Cataphract :)

I just re-read my books because it'd slipped my mind, but the cost of a minimum unit of Immortals actually ain't that bad, if you don't mind regular breachers to begin with. I might start using them more in small games now.

Wow was just reading the gorgon stats, ws4? What are their advantages, as far as I can tell, they are basically legion terminators with power axes and combi bolters, aren't you better of with regular ones?

I'm really trying to figure out a fluffy workable iron hands list at 3k that has everything I need and is effective.

I haven't bought any models yet, but I love the look/ possible usage of immortals. To get around the no vexilla, could use orth in a sicaran and buff to command tank?

Come on fraters lets have some suggestions, how do you play yours?!

While they're more restrictive than Legion Terminators and have Initiative 3 (though this doesn't come into play much), Gorgons have Feel No Pain (5+) and their Gorgon Pattern Terminator armour with it's Blind effect. These changes cost a 5-man unit only 15 points, so it's a pretty good deal given Terminators usually need a Primus Medicae for FNP alone.

There's also the Rule of Cool. :)

Immortals... Not sure about them. Volkite chargers for only 5 points, like Terror Squads, is nice. They perform well, but have Preferred Enemy (Infantry) - maybe Immortals are a good choice for Autek Mor's Warlord Trait?

ah I see, so getting the fnp is pretty swish, they are pretty choppy as well I guess.

Has the blind come in handy? From the outset it looks like a little rule that doesn't do much. I suppose if you get one from overwatch your ws4 doesn't matter so much, does it come into play offen?

Do you run then in 5s in a phobos?

And if you were going for some immortals 15 in a spartan with 50/50 volkites and blades? The extra combat weapon bonus then comes into effect unless I'm missing something? Plus again fnp is pretty cool.

Perhaps 2 rhino Tac squads in there for troops and perhaps a support squad?

One other things, vehicles can have both simulacra and it will not die (ferrus) correct?

Sorry for slightly nooby questions

That's very strange as an option, i know boarding shields don't let you gain an extra cc attack I just wondered if taking an extra cc weapon allowed it (in breachers I don't think you can?)

So really they are better off with chargers as they get a pistol anyway. Little more expensive, but more hard hitting.

10 in a raider coming out and volkiting things then finishing the remains off in combat sounds ok to me. Any survivors gun them down, as they are more likely to kill them than sweep?
