Heinrich point +1.

I suppose it comes to noone's surprise that this was just the thing I was in my workshop fixing. Funny how that tiny detail was starting to bug me unsure.png

Praetor/Sevatar take #2! ... Praetotar?... Sevatator? Eh whatevs... new digs!

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA020023_zps14a438aa.jpg

And the new shoulder. I fiddled around with the old one for awhile, but couldn't really find anything to do with it that I particularly liked, so I defaulted to my normal solution. Stick a SoH part on it!

At first I thought it looked a bit large, but I'm starting to like it now. When I began building marines, I tried for a consistent match on the shoulder pads. Now I kinda like that "lop-sided" look happy.png Besides... that's his duelin' arm!

Huh... I just realized my jetpack Sevrin Loth infiltrated his way into that last shot.

**EDIT** Holy crap Heathens and Heinrich in the same day! wub.png

@Heathens - see above. He is a bit messy, I'll be sure to wash him up a bit before the primer goes on!

And thanks for the constructive crits. I'll admit I learned a few things from your awesome Iron Warriors.

The new shoulderpad looks much better. He's rocking skulls on his beltline anyway, so no loss on trophies :) .

Any reason you're keeping the purity seal on his right leg? Oath of moment, maybe?

Overall, he's looking great. I'm glad my humble work can inspire you. Looking forward to paint, Flint. :tu:

Oh wow, thanks for all the positive replies, guys! Of course, feel free to let loose with a little criticism as well. Already managed to fix that little anti-grav skull issue.

@Heathens - Thanks for the crit! I admit, I'm not a great painter, so I tend to avoid it until friends or the girlfriend finally peer pressure me into it. As for his seal, I love the idea of "twisted nobility and honor" that some takes on the Nightlords have. Something of a lawful evil. I have a few of those sprinkled around my company as little oaths of moment. My Nightlords just have less "honor and ideal" oaths and more "I'll vow to murdercate the *hell* out of those guys," types of oaths happy.png

@DeathSpectre - Thanks!

@Tanith and Wicced - Thanks and shoulderpad seconded!

For today, I have two for you all!

Firstly, my legion champion. Also where the rest of the most awesome SoH parts went...

Helmet close up

And from the back

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA030025_zps60716c72.jpg

And the penultimate member of the command squad bodyguard. Also probably the most ambitious conversion in the group so far.

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA030027_zpsa6962df7.jpg

His axe is kinda big compared to the rest of them. Maybe to counterbalance his combi-plasma

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA030029_zps24f8c8cc.jpg

Combi plasma!

And... wow... haha, I *love* how much of those little messy details come out when you turn on Macro-mode.

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA030028_zps967557dd.jpg

Again, thanks for all the compliments and help so far!

Wow, those latest models are looking sharp!

And... wow... haha, I *love* how much of those little messy details come out when you turn on Macro-mode.

Haha I know that *love* all too well.  Once all the surfaces are smoothed out and imperfections are fixed and youve painted it- it'll be worth all the annoyance of that "love" though.

They're all amazing conversions, but that champion? He's just ace.

ACE.

You rang?laugh.png

*Looks at models* *EDIT: ESPECIALLY the most recent one*

Sweet Golden Throne, that's incredible. I think you just discovered the King of Chainaxes!

These are looking great, I'm always jealous when I see people working with the SoH models, no matter how they're using them.

Sorry to go back a bit though, but isn't that a SoH Cthonian symbol on the shinguard of the first guy?

Wow, thanks for all the awesome positive replies so far guys! I should have one of the two squad members left up either today or tmrw.

@Chaplain - Ugh, tell me about it. I swear I spend just as much time cleaning up wayward glue and missed xacto knife cuts as I do building the little guys in the first place.

@batu - I know what you mean. He is *HEROIC* scale, but it does look a little heavy doesn't it? I'm torn so far. To be fair, it is converted from a tartaros terminator's combi-bolter, as I was too lazy/broke at the time to special order a few sternguard combi-plasmas.

@Knight of the Raven - Thanks! I try, as does Ace, apparently ^_^

@Ace Debonair - Thanks, I was worried a bit that they were a bit large, but I like the aesthetic now that I see them all together.

@skillingspree - They are from the new-ish Catalan Reaver squad from Forgeworld. I hope this doesn't make folks on here hate me a bit, but I got this pack of five for free from Forgeworld... it went something like this:

Me- "Hi Forgeworld, I ordered a Castallex robot from you a week ago, and I just got the order today. It looks like you sent me a pack of Sons of Horus and a terminator powerfist set instead."

Forgeworld- "We are very sorry for the packaging mistake. We are re dispatching the order immediately with express shipping. Please keep the old package as an apology for the inconvenience."

same thing happened with a warpfire dragon a few months back. So I'm putting them to good use. I can't complain about costs from Forgeworld really... they've sent me quite a bit of free stuff accidentally over the last year.

@Balthamal & Dark Rage - Thanks guys! I'm trying to argue myself into painting them as we speak.

@Oojamaflip - It is. I was hoping shaving off a few bits would leave me with something that looked less like a Cthonian glyph and more like generic "edging" but I think I'm going to have to slice it all the way off.

Morning folks!

Something a tad new today. It's my goal to eventually have at least one of all of the centurion options present in Betrayal, of course with a little evil Nightlordy twist. I've already got one Legion Champion above, so here's my take on a slightly less popular option.

Everyone, please welcome Brother-"Redemptor" Vakariel

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA070032_zps20878c59.jpg

BAM! Vigilator. Complete with legion iconography, trophy helmets and Nostraman glaive-axe.

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA070033_zps867642a9.jpg

I feel like he is only 75% done though... He's missing something somewhere,  I just can't place it.

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA070034_zps9eb541e4.jpg

Feel free to let loose with helpful suggestions with what can be done to improve him a bit!

Meaty bits, gore, and some remnants of a spinal cord coming from the Centurion helmet under the crook of his arm.

I would suggest you do some adjustments to his pose. As his is a static model with the legs and torso as one, you have his left foot hanging sort of half way on the ground. I would recommend you cut out the foot and then repose it. A little green stuff and that should look right as rain. Another recommendation is the axe arm. I can tell that you're going for a relaxed calm and cool badass pose but the axe arm is too seized up. I would recommend you push the arm back just ever so slightly and then turn the hand slack so its arched downwards, then fill the gap with some greenstuff to make it look like soft armour joints. Lastly is the helmet. Like I said before, since you're trying to go for that calm pose, and given the weight of the model's direct, you should arc his head slightly his right shoulderpad, then turn it so he's looking off to his left, not seeming to really care about the two Champions of the Emperor that he's slain. Three helmets all looking in the same direction just seems off and makes the direction of the model look completely asymmetrical.

Aside from those adjustments that I think would really help the overall model, I think you've got a really solid piece right hear and I look forward to seeing him done. Just my two cents.

Oh wow, yeah. Good points, thanks Noctius! Alrighty, the greenstuff is still *Super* messy, but this should give a better idea. Mk, take #2

More relaxed overall...

"Huh... I think I see another guy I should decapitate..."

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA070009_zpsd1b4f2fe.jpg

Tiny spine nubbin' for thematic purposes!

http://i1290.photobucket.com/albums/b533/Flint1324/PA070010_zpsca6896f7.jpg

How's that looking now? happy.png

What I need from you, the vaunted folks of B&C, is suggestions of what legions our little "decorations" should hail from? devil.gif

Much better, in my opinion. I would only say perhaps center his head just a bit further in. You're going for a more casual pose, correct? So I think it would be better if you make his pose more casual. At that far to the left, it seems like he's straining to get that 90o angle. Try more of a 45o or 60o.

Just my two cents.

Hmm... I was originally thinking an angel collection of both the dark and blood variety ^_^

But I'm thinking when I paint his cloak black (like the recon squad on forgeworld) that a dark angel helmet would get lost in all the black.

Now I'm thinking of making it a Terra in the Fall collection and going blood angel/imperial fist.

Thoughts?

Ooh, very nice.

My only complaint is that the pics in the first post aren't working. teehee.gif

For trophies, I actually want to say White Scars. The sheer white would contrast so well.

But Imperial Fists get a thumbs up to. The Sons of Dorn need to be bloodied. devil.gif
