Furioso, do you mind explaining what exactly Lahmian Medium is/does? censored.gif fine looking model though!

Lahmian medium is basically a semi viscous paint thinner. it also works a lot like Flow-Aid from Liquitex. It's basically magic in a paint pot. never, I repeat NEVER thin paint with water. you lose a lot of the original properties of the paint. with a medium. It will stay as it was, it will just be thinner. you can even turn regular paints into washes with it. it really is magic! but at almost $4.00 a pot, it is a little expensive for as much as i use it. an alternative is go to michael's art supply (or whatever) and buy some flo-aid from liquitex. (about $12.00 U.S.) and a gallon of DISTILLED water. mix together at a ratio 1/10th flo-aid to 9/10th distilled water. and BAM you just made your own Medium!.

the key with it is experimentation. I might even mix it 50/50 with Liquitex's Matte Medium. see how that works for me.

Yeah brother that's cool I'd like to incorporate different metal tones to.

Other than power scythes I won't have any power swords.

Strictly chainy goodness

well send me the power stuff. help a honkey out!

BRAKE FLUID??? Not on Forge World resin you monster!

This is the stuff I use, don't know if there's an Aussie equivalent but it works like a charm, just plop your guys in for a couple days and then brush off the paint with a good stiff toothbrush. make sure you wear latex or nitrile gloves because this :cuss will cause light chemical burns. Afterwards you can use a funnel with a thick paper towel as a filter and pour it all back in the bottle. This particular container has lasted me for over a year and I've stripped World Eaters, Iron Warriors, and my original Night Lords.

Plus it's biodegradable ;)

Okay so finished the sculpt.

All the wire is covered and the gauntlet will still be visible.

Recommendations or changes?

@ Jasp: the sculpt is really great Jasp. What sort of color will you go for the Magick effect? I think it'll be an excellent opportunity to find a bright color to contrast with the rest of the DG force... Look forward to it!

@ furioso: Sgt Icor rocks. Plain and simple! I think going for simple yet effective techniques is the way to do it. There is a certain brutal quality to the MkIII crested helmet, no? Also your immaculate working space is a hubris to the Dark Gods of the Paintbrush. You can run but you cannot hide!

@grot- ill have to pop on down there this weekend I think, god I love bunnings I always walk out with stuff for the old toolbox or. An extra drill or ryobi battery for my ever growing shed.

@Semp- I was thinking of doing a magic effect like the Warhammer fantasy covenant throne of blood with the flying skulls and spirits. But I'm not sure yet on the contrast colour.

It's time for some inspiration!

I love this art piece. I really like the grill on the guy far left.

I am also a fan of white DG, I've been REALLY tempted to do up a single MKIII DG in white for awhile now....

Also, if you're interested Prime, I've a Mortarion I could be convinced to let go of....

He measures up against Fulgrim fairly well too, maybe 1-2mm shorter at the eyes.

Wow, I've never seen that figure before. Pretty cool, but I don't like how the exhaust has been portrayed in any of the artwork or this figure.

Some day, I want to see if I can make a decent looking primarch figure, and Morty is one of the top contenders.

I kinda liked this rendition:

BRUTAL !!!!!!! I'm quite sure FW's version will blow any of the current options out of the water though, we know Lorgar is finished and Horus will probably make an appearance at the BL weekender, but who's next? Could be Curze. Could be Morty. Either way, I'd bet on a Q1 '14 release for Horus and a Q3 '14 for whoever's next.

In regards to you building your own Primarch, for the love of God, YES !!!!!

Cheers,

Jono

Some day, Grot. I'm going to try out some other sculpting media soon to see if I can find something I like better than GS, and we'll see where I go from there. If I did a primarch, it would probably be almost completely sculpted and I don't think I can pull that off just yet.

*edit*

The ones I was considering are Morty, Perturabo, Curze, and to have at lease one loyalist in there - Sanguinius.

*edit the second*

How about one of your contests to build a primarch with that figure for the prize?

As I typed my above response, I started considering it. The good news is I've quite a few more unofficial Primarch models, so the prize wouldn't even need to be this guy.
