Yeah it's good, I need to figue our the right shade of green now. What did you use?

Plus I'm trying out schemes for rotting flesh but I'm pretty behind as I've got the gym and some renos to do :/

here's the green;

Green:
1. Basecoat with Castellan Green;
2. Highlight with 50/50 mix of
Castellan Green and Elysian Green;
3. Highlight with Elysian Green.

nice and easy! note there is no wash.

when I run out of Castellan green, I am going to switch to Tamiya Med. green (my salamander color) as it's really close, but a little more.....sickly? when I run out of gw, I am switching to Tamiya, Vallejo, and Reaper/P3.

I will keep getting the technicle, certain layers, Dry, and textures. from GW probably.

and A side not jasp, do you mind If I make this where I put and tutorials and how-to recipes when i make them.

Really like your project so far and look forward to see some finished models.

But you are still traitors to everything the XIV stood for msn-wink.gif

Hey, hey , HEY NOW!

I will be using these as Loyalists in a local league! I klike Dual purpose armies!

Rotten Flesh

On the Rotten flesh note, just try to remember, that flesh don't really go green when decomposing. it is usually a bluish black around the orifices as the blood pools and breaks down. the the skin gets super pale as it deconstitutes even further. eventually the flesh will darken, tighen and eventually split and spill out. really decayed flesh is more of a grey. you could do a greenish grey for effect but it won't be realistic.

I actually have dozens of case photos of the deceased from the ambulance work I have done(not morbid, just I maintain good files, it has helped law enforcement before) but I do not have written permission to post them from the victims families so I can't.

I could post pictures of deceased soldiers as military do not have the same rights as civilian. BUT that would do nothing to honor the Sacrifice made by said soldier. so no go

plus, I don't feel a hobby forum is the right place for actual death photos.

Looking good Jasp, take your time, the best products come out of careful application of talent. Let test models take the abuse.

This. So much, this. I always do test models, usually on metal figures because they strip so much easier in the Simple Green.

usually use terminators cuz I have a censored.gif ton of em. I bought an ebay lot a while back and it had like 115-116 termies in it. various stages of build. sure mostly AoBR stuff, but hell, TDA is TDA!

oh, and jasp. I have a Dread with a Plasma cannon and a Missile launcher in the worksdevil.gif

also, forget about the large and basecoat brush. when you get ready to clean that wash up(and please thin your ceramite white with lahmian medium. trust me!) use a small brush. again trust me. GW's detail(not small detail)brush should do it.

 and also try this; find where you want to leave the shade, use the detail brush draw a complete shape whit yer thinned ceramite white. then move on to the next plate. etc. let the outlines dry, then just color them in. 9 times out 9 this will yield fantastic results.

get the white pretty, then with whatever weathering technigue your using, mess it up proper!

I'm thinking of stripping it and starting again.

DON"T DO THAT!

seriously, he is awesome. plus if you really want to get better at this hobby. leave him be. it will be amazing this time next year(yep, I have found a long-haul project and partner in crime!) when you see just how far you've actually come as an artisan in this hobby. you have our respect and support, now you just need to see your work like we do.

on the skin

 maybe keep that base.

 use a pale flesh color.

 and keep adding said flesh color to the base color and build up into a nice "dead" flesh.

 wash it with thinned reikland fleshwash.

 and use a green glaze to pick out certain areas wher you really want the corruption to show though.

that might do it!

please don't strip him. I really want you to start thinking about color and composition. and how ti all goes together. you are already light-years ahead of A LOT of hobbyists, just believe in your craft, man.

so what if people didn't like your "dirtfloor" World Eaters, we at the B&C loved them. if that dosen't give you a good measuring stick of where your at as a hobbyist, well, you may just be hopeless.

somehow, I don't think that is the case here.

look man I'll confess that I don't believe that I am all that great of a Hobbyist it is what it is. I have a lot of knowledge, but it's mainly concept and theory. I just got lucky with a few decent works and earned a little hobby cred from the right people. I believe that my strength lies in my creativity, not my ability. I am just lucky to have made some great friends who support me in all my unfocused madness! But, and I wan't this to be very clear, I coun't you as a damn good hobbyist, and consider myself lucky to able to call you a good friend. you are doing just fine with your work, you can improve, but hell everyone can(even BrianBlaire!).

and in closing(finally, right?!) I chose this project and you to work with for a few reasons;

1. you're my friend.

2. I love the DG.

3. I feel I can actually learn a lot from you.

4. i feel I can teach you some things as well.

5. your motivation is just crazy infectious

so man, keep at it. I want this guy finished. Nurgle demands it!

on that note, I gotta go finish a certain assault Sgt. (if I can find his damn combat knife. he fell victim to a very curious 1 year old *sigh*, oh well, at least I have a ton of those knives!)

p.s. sorry if this off topic brother

He's looking really great so far, jasp mate, very nice work indeed. The bonewhite is spot on and will look great once cleaned up and highlighted. Really impressed with how well your sculpting has turned out, the spell-effect looks like it's always been a part of the model! :)

as you can see, the wash is wet and I'll definately have to line shade some areas. but I acn do that when I add the rust/grime/blood streakes

helmat and arms

not the greatest photo, but it gives an idea. they're actually turning out better than the body, FML.

just Icor, the Rogue Trader chaplain, and a test termie for a loyalist DG army for 40K.
