WarriorFish
Nice, though the picture's angle is a little odd. Did you get Spiderman to take it? :P They look good, I particularly like the train tracks :) What colour have you painted the bricks? Bricks are: black primer , $1 michaels grey drybrush, 50/50 black/ red, 25/75 black red... Will have another coat of red and then a Highlight of red/lil yellow and then a dry brush of light brown. WarriorFish
Cool, I was wondering if you'd do a bit more to them. Hard to find the time to paint lately but I'm trying to sort as much out as I can before our new codex arrives :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3621355 Share on other sites
lionofjudah
Ya, I'll be flying these next 2 trips so am trying to figure what I want to bring with me..: have one of the BF infinity beta bags which is a great size for travel- highly recommend one if anyone is in the market for a smaller bag. Should be able to get 20 guys in there and paints, brushes, glass, cloth, gs and bases for these dudes../ Decided to sell my wolves and focus my energy on getting this army table ready by summer as I'm going to host a day long gaming convention at my business:)- I'm also shooting to build all the COD buildings I've had in boxes for a 'grad style city fight board to complement my basing. Of course, we are also expanding our business and looking to move in the next 3 months so I have lofty goals :) Thanks warriorfish, hope you get to pick up the brushes soon Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3621626 Share on other sites
WarriorFish
That sounds exciting lion, good luck! We had a collective effort to build all our CoD kits a while ago and celebrated with a series of games with them. Was a lot of fun and my penchant for Hellhounds and friends paid dividends ;) I'm painting when I can, and I'm finalising the last bits so I can take some models into work for my lunch break which should help a lot :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3621742 Share on other sites

Warhawk Shizu
Very nice models you have here (finally got through the plog at work today). Very inspiring to see other drop trooper projects going strong. I like your men a whole lot, especially the Forge World kit mixing worked far better then I imagined it would. Some very nice, dynamic and interesting poses in there^^ (And a super nifty Harker!^^) As for criticism I'd say that the one improvement that would really make the models shine even more would be to have clearer more marked lines between the different coloured areas. Perhaps because of the pictures, but I feel they partly creap over into each other, which I think makes them dimmer. Perhaps this is intentional, and it does give them a certain dusty feel, so if that is the case never mind XD Ohh, and consider your basing idea with the tracks for a flying base stolen (if I may be so crude). Absolutely ace idea that!^^ Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3625368 Share on other sites
lionofjudah
Thanks Warhawk...It feels good to have this army coming together (finally)- been inspired over the years by several beautiful armies of mixed troop types and am excited to be doing this :) The color split looks softer in real life... darn macro setting on my phone camera gives an eye to all the defects ;)... I am constantly trying to be 'ok' with my paint style. I continually practice on making things smooth and going for even color transitions and then- the only time I really have to paint is late at night when Im a lil tired and bleary eyed. Have an hour right now so I am going to put some paint down :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3625377 Share on other sites

lionofjudah
So I am on the road again this week and decided to not bring anything to paint as I need to dedicate a bunch of time to other projects. So I'm going to write up my trooper descriptive for One for all, All for one http://fortressofunforgiven.homestead.com/IG_14A_Banner.jpg.***Special Operations Grenadier Harl Tourson, 4th Sappers team, 17th Insertion Cadre of the 144th Artemisian's under the operational control of Colonel Dechor Marlie on the Daxtrist Forgeworld***The ground shook underneath me, I awoke confused and dazed...'Mom, is it another quake?' I asked. Waiting for a moment for response and hearing none but the crunching sounds of plascrete and polycement grinding against one another. My whole body ached as I slipped back into a fugue state, blinking my eyes and trying to orient myself I awaited my mother's response to my query I felt my body. Aching and more sore than I have ever remembered, what is that noise outside? The quakes had been coming with greater frequency and intensity recently. The hab block orator says it is the Emperor shaking our world to remind us their is more work to be done, more las cells and mortar shells to be manufactured. I had lost my best friend in the collapse of the Givron Spire last month and I hear talk of weird noises from the underhives and communications being lost from some of the farther outposts. Talks of tectonic instability had plagued Dectrax Ordinatus Prime for decades and Mom says it is the will of the Emperor that keeps us safe. Our world has manufactured munitions for the Emperor for a hundred generations and would continue to if it his will.BOOM...boom...... the tremors are receding. 'Mom!!' I yelled and coughed into....something. I touched my hands at my face and felt a weight as things moved off of my arms. Scattering dust and a pale haze rose from the ground all around me. 'Where am I?' I asked. Blinking my eyes and clearing them I brought my hands up to rub them and found myself touching..something hard. My breath rate increased as I began to panic. I said my mantra to the Emperor for protection. Asking for his safety and blessing as I had been taught by the Imperial confessor after the razing of my hab by the Astraes 10 years earlier... 'What the FETH is going on?' I shouted as I wiped my hands across the lenses in front of my eyes, the streaking left by my fingers showed a world in rubble and flames around me. My body immediately felt as though I was asleep again as the sights around me stimulated my brain. My arms twitched as my neurons recalibrated and reconnected with their receptors. The shock of rememberance came to me fully. My world, my mother were gone after the cataclysm wrought by the cults on my homeworld. The quakes were the tidings of a great evil upon Dectrax and the ArchFiend Xalathrax of the Iron Warriors.I felt my rebreather mask, blinking myself fully back to a conscious and waking state. I am grateful for my training after my time at the Dectrax Ordinatus Imperial Academy. Indoc prepared me to come online with a moments notice as my proctors would impart training upon us for 18 standard hours of each cycle. 4 years of physical and mental conditioning ingrained into my psyche what my favorite proctor referred to as the warriors ethos. My whole body ached as my hands pushed down into the rubbled ground underneath me. The sharp points under my hands bit into me, the pain refocused my attention and my gaze focused on the flames to my right. I recognized the silhouette of a Vendetta gunship. I turned my head to the left and saw the plascrete shell of a building in flames.... My eyes spotted shapes moving through the shadows of the flickering flames and a cold chill ran through my spine. My heart hammered in my chest as I saw the beasts we must have come here for trodding through the debris. I saw one of the 3 brutish and their presence spurred my desire to reacquaint my hands with my MK14M81 rifle. I looked to my right again and saw the familiar shape of such a weapon next to me amid the rubble. I clicked my commbead with my tongue and whispered, 'Tourson check... 4th, sound off.' My throat was dry and my tongue felt leaden and like sandpaper against my lips. Static was my answer on the 4th Sapper's squad channel. None of the 9 other men under my command answered. I opened communications to the other squads of men I remembered being with me this morning and heard the static. I may have knocked my voxlink out of stabilization or damaged my transceiver. Now was not the time to worry about that as the 3 orks I had seen were making their sluggish way closer to my position. Rolling onto my hands and knees I quelled the desire to empty the contents of my belly into my mask. My hands found the stock of the weapon to my right and it felt good in my hands. A familiar sensation reintegrated my mind and body to where and who I was...how I got here, and how dire the situation was.MASINT had discovered the source of the Orks munitions on this world. 3 squads of elite grenadier sappers had been assigned the destruction of an Ork Mek Manufactory. We had loaded into separate gunships for the 4 hour flight. We had been spotted 4 mikes from the objective and been under fire the rest of the insertion flight. It had gone from bad to worse when Bird 3 had taken a Flakk missile to its starboard engine...she lit up like a roman candle and I watched the 14 men on that craft cease to exist in a nanosecond, Emperor protect.Bird 1, 2 and 4 reached our staging area under increasing fire. Flakk shells burst in the air around us bringing a harsh light to the moonless night.'30 seconds men. Good luck. The Emperor protects.' said the pilot as he swerved through the rising tide of shells in the air.Our door gunners were sending a constant stream of heavy bolter rounds downrange and calling target to one another in a steady cadence of, 'Target my 4! Firing!' and 'Throne theres a walker, 10 o'clock.' These were solid men of the Imperial forces who were trained to fire with patience and diligence. The Emperor did not reward those who used his ammunition carelessly. The light in the crew bay turned green. 'GO, GO, GO! Yelled Sergeant Jirktir from the rear of the cabin. We did not land but fast roped from the rear hatches of the craft as we had done dozens of times before in this rotation. I was number 3 out and 10 meters from the deck when I heard Lt. Nilosh scream, 'GET OUT!!' a second before the cockpit of our Vendetta was vaporized. The heat was incredible as the promthium in the fuel tanks lit and added to the fire in the sky at my back.I saw the 2 men before me drop from the line as Bird 1 broke up above me. The ground came rushing at me and darkness overtook me...*Tasked with the destruction of an Orken Mek Manufatory, the 4th Sapper team was inserted via Vendetta squadron behind the force of a guided ordinance bombardment of the entire 17th Cadres Artis Magnae Artillerie Corps. 2 Vendettas from this flight returned to base after sustaining serious damages while circling the downed gunship. The casualties on these 2 Vendettas along with the total loss of Bird 3 and the downing of Bird 1 meant the 4th Sapper team was understrength to complete the mission as given. Orders were given from Colonel Marlie to terminate the mission and RTB.This was 19 months into the campaign on the Hellground that is the Daxtrist Forgeworld and 3 months ago. Vox contact suggests Grenadier Sapper Tourson was the lone survivor of the mission. He is requesting immediate SAR and reports completion of the mission through the destruction of the powergrid feeding the Manufactory.*(pics to follow- Tourson will represent 'Marbo' in my army) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3634171 Share on other sites

WarriorFish
I fixed the post for you lion :) It was HTML code which the text editor automatically converts to text. If it happens again when you paste some content in, try using the "paste from" buttons in the top right of the editor (left of the options cog), either pasting from Word or as plain text. I liked your blurb, don't forget to put it in your completion post in the Regiments topic to properly register it! I'm looking forward to reading the regimental write up :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/283143-working-on-my-guard/page/5/#findComment-3634722 Share on other sites
