@ Chaplain Mortis

Thanks! I want to, but I have to do boring infantry first ... xD

@ Darth Potato

Thank you :) That was kinda what I looked for, plus lots of rust.

And now a small update on my next project.

I really hate the look of plain metal paint, it hurts my eyes.

And some "bad" news, I won't be able to update that much this week since I am going away for a few days, so I'll try to make as much as possible before I go.

I also think I figured out why my chipping is so horrid, I think it's the white I am using, since I and using Vallejo's Surface Primer, and it's like a rubber mask when it's dried. Ooh well, you learn something everyday.

@ MordentHex

Yeah, I prefer it over pure brown/rust and metallic colors, since I feel that metallic "hurts" my eyes. However grey with some added rust is nice if you do it right.

@ Captain Semper

I felt that the chipping could have gone better but oh well, and the shoulders are way to chipped, but I'll have to make do. You are correct, and I direct you to the pictures below. :)

So last update until saturday/sunday this week.

Focus on the white parts since all the metals have a long way to go, the copper needs oxidation, and the steel needs grease, so ignore those parts for now.

You were at my house? How!? ;)

@ Chaeron

Thanks :D

And you can't come back to a Plog without an update. A small one though, just added some oxide to the copper, but is it a little bit strong?

Truly mpressive stuff there Packe, the way you build it up from grey, to rust and mud is superb. I love the details in there, like the weathering on the rivets of the joints...

Awesomeness incarnate! :tu:

Thanks Guys!

I was going to have some pictures of me finished dread.

But since fate hates me or something, so I won't be able to. Since when I was about to varnish the model the varnish just went bananas and screwed everything up. So almost all my work is ruined. The Sicaran problems brought me low, but this just ruined me. I will try to fix it, but it's going to be hard. :(

Update soon.

just looking at the sicaran again - how did you paint the green stripe over the weathering? did you mask it off and then sponge it on?  if so, when did the transfer go on, before or after?  I dont get how the transfers got weathered too?

EDIT:  Sorry to hear about the contemptor

Hi
guys!

Sorry for my absence, but the contemptor really broke
my spirit, still not 100% recovered but I got back to painting again.

@infyrana

Thanks for the advise, but "any recovering attempts"
are already to late, since I "half stripped" it and painted over it. But
thanks anyways :smile.:

@disease

It's easy but tedious but not complicated.

First I mask of the area that I want striped, seal it
with varnish.

Put a layer of chipping fluid.

Paint the green.

Chip it.

Varnish

Add Transfer

Scrape it off with a knife / toothpick

Varnish

Weather.

There is an easier way that I found out when I painted

it, but I forgot it now xD

And for my update!

I am not very happy but I just want it done (sais the

person who spends 10 hours to weather a body and legs ... :tongue.: )

I preferred the old one the rust was more subtle on that one, I might go over
the rust again and trim it, but my washes just wont work, they don't flow as
they should. :/

I think it looks good - but my criticism compared to your other work is that it's almost too weathered. I think it then detracts from the rest of the model. Don't get me wrong - you have crazy good talent at doing it, but it's almost as if there isn't enough armour that's shown to be damaged. Have you tried going back and perhaps adding even patches of that to break it up? I think it'd then make you happier about the weathering around the rest of the model.

IMO the oxidation looks spot on. This dread is heavily weathered and if your brass was clean it would look wrong. It fits your style perfectly. Don't be hard on yourself mate, you know what they say, we're our own worst critic.

I think you've done an excellent job. This contemptor screams death guard.

@ Chaeron

Yeah I sort of feel the same, I tried to clean it up a little bit before I did the varnish. But It's still a little bit to rusty. I've thought about it, but I believe it will look a little out of place since sponge chipping vs fluid chipping ain't the same.

@ Brother Molokai

Thanks for your kind words, I just felt that the old version was so much better and I will never get the same result. :/

@ disease

As I said to Chaeron I think I won't be able to blend it in enough, or maybe I just don't want to screw it up another time xD

@ deathspectersgt7

Haha! Good one, I might make a story around that.

And you can't have a reply without an update!

First of, I god damn despise the new Vallejo Varnish I happened again, it turned out milky, and no matter how I made it (diluted, nondiluted, airbrushed, brushed) it turned out the same. But luckily I manage to save it this time with the last of my old Varnish, but atleast something.

The shoulders will be regrayed and then chipped so focus on the white parts.

I am torn on the fist, not sure if I am happy with it or not. And I know that I missed the oxidation on the knuckles. :P

C&C Welcome

A small update, have not got to do so much work on the contemptor since I am missing a varnish ...

But I got the shoulders green a scratched, still chipping to much but getting better.

And here is a "side project" I am doing, for the local GW Stockholm (Sweden) painting contest, it's going to be a duel between a Deathshroud Terminator and an Iron Hand Chapion with 2-hand Chainsword.

I tried a new highlight by using Blue instead of grey, but I'm not sure, what to you guys think?
