Although the second one comes at a close second. But I would change the tabard and cross color.

So here, under poor light, are the testers. I am now leaning towards the blue-grey more than ever, just like the simple nature of it, and the red is a nice contrast I think.

Righty-ho, so I now want to start on the painting, but still can't decide on the colour cheme really, so some opinions would be much appreciated.

 

The blue-grey is still what I'm leaning towards.

 

Also, any opinions on the bits of battle damage I've done, granted there isn't too much of it...?

It'd be an absolute pain in the :cuss to paint, but I think the quartered scheme looks a lot better, and is more visually interesting. Your battle damage is well modelled, but it needs some more paint chipping around the bullet holes and scratch marks, the paint is too pristine around the edges

Yeah, I did. Clearly I need to get my eyes checked, I didn't even realize the first one was quartered.

It is a rather subtle quartering, just to make you feel better :P .

 

Still maintain the red-grey view now that you know they're both quartered?

If the colours in the blue grey were a smidge lighter I think you'd have some better definition :)

I'm not convinced by the gold trim, as I wanted them to be quite plain and solemn, so how about something like this:

Ok, in my confusion I have come up with one more option; I have painted the grey on some figures, and quite liked the way it looked with the black.

OK so I finally decided on the black-grey scheme, and thought I'd show you how the first model is coming along. Still needs plenty of highlighting, and other additions, but it is WIP after all

Now that I'm happy with how the scheme looks on a model I'm starting to work on the rest of the unit too, so they will be shown shortly.

I'd love your thoughts guys. (Sorry for the bad lighting)

The tabard is "too" black. It looks like an empty void in the picture. Aside from that looks good. The half of a face painted one color doesn't seem to match anything else on the model, but I'm not sure if that is bad or not.

Ah yes, the tabard isn't done, and I'm not sure what colour to paint it. Was thinking either red, or like the scrolls? Any thoughts?

 

As for the face, I wanted to try it as a symbol of veterancy, and quite liked it.

Slacking a little bit this week due to Christmas festivities, but I have managed to paint the loin cloth, and the rest of the unit is coming along slowly also.

 

So for now, here is the vet. with loin cloth and grav-gun lighting effect (experimental).

Alriiiiight, so finally a little progress post Christmas festivities.

 

Being a little bored of troops for now, I've started on my Emperor's Champ, or Questor as he'll be known to my force.

 

It's just the very beginning, so more to come. :)
