I really don't think the size difference matters. I seem to remember that the sketchy GW Heldrake fluff is that they used to be flyers who got mutated by the power of the warp (wooooo) in the eye of terror or something, so it figures that there'd be different size Heldrakes depending on which flyer they were originally - and/or how much the warp has affected them. Some might be more mechanically biased (like no. 2) and some might be influenced by children's nightmares or some such and look like dragons (you catch my drift)!

Plus, as I said before - scale is moot in the 30-40k universe!

Progress is a bit slow on these bad boys. My dog had puppies and that's made life pretty interesting

I threw in a few rib spikes to fill the triple holes for the lower wing

And some organic/mechanical parts into the neck

And tendrils along the tail as well as skills in the exhaust. I'm going for a soul powered daemon engine on this one

That's an awesome looking chaos dragon, mutated, fighter...thingy :S

What do you plan to put on the base? I can imagine a bunch of guardsmen either running away in terror or a space marine looking up in awe/confusion/hesitation (cause Astartes know no fear n all that jazz).

So once again I've been out of the game doing renovations. Seems to be my life. I've had this weekend to do some greenstuff work and I'm fairly happy with the results.

First up the head a newly added helmet to the zombie dragon jaw bone and some greenstuff torn flesh

Also some join work on the back armour

So heartbreak struck last weekend as I went to get ready to paint and found not only he half my paints dried out but also my brushes had either gone missing or dried out poorly.

Luckily Hough I have a a a song wife who came home with this today

She also told me she thinks my dragon needs to breathe fire and bought me this

I think she may be on to something

That is indeed incredibly awesome of your wife!

So it looks like you'll need to paint flames, eh? It's dangerous to go alone. Take this.

(It's the best, most succinct also also most fool-proof tutorial on painting flame in existence, if you ask me.)

So was I, back when my Chaos Knight required the effect. I've used the tutorial twice now, and painting flames becomes almost laughably easy that way, at least as long as they basically follow a suitably "flame-y" general shape ;)

So I've though long and hard about it and I feel the skeletal style doesn't suit my previous Khornate style models so it requires a different paint job. I'm thinking my second skeletal lot of conversions will be tzeentch based. As the other models I have planned are somewhat Egyptian styled.

So here is my tester.

Any input would be appreciated

First, (also) your wife is epic^^

Second, I was really happy to discover how well the Helldrake and the Zombie dragon kit blend together (will talk about it in the thread about my warband as soon as I finish this post). What do you think about it?

Third, I really like the regal (as in yellow/gold and blue) theme for Tzeentch! the only thing I (knowing my personal weaknesses) would be concerned with is that it will require a clean and precise execution for the "mecha/armor" bits.

I mean, as far as I see, Tzeenctcan models tends to have two parts blend together in "harmonious contrast". Some parts (Armor and so) require a great deal of precision, so they get a "real" and "consistent" feel (something I'm not always satisfied with in my models), while some others (demonic fleshy/fiery) needs shades and more "pictorial" techniques (or the "cheat mode" of citadel shades ^^) and give the "abstract/magic/blurry" feel.

At least this is my opinion^^ Just trying to help your with reasoning around it, take it as "hey, this is wise, now I see what I need to do" or "what a pile of crap, I'm not interested/already know/completely disagree" or everything in between^^

on a side note , the fire tutorial KS posted is really great!
