What 2014 will bring

I am not replacing 7000pts worth of bases thats for sure.

Ugh. I wouldn't want to do that either.

Wasn't there a rule that you are supposed to put models on the base they were bought with? So get lots of ASM now.

I don't know if this is why they are doing it. I just always tend to think of the worst possible scenario in any given situation when GW is involved. I'm jaded like that I guess.

We don't. Maybe they're changing the rules and putting jump pack minis on larger bases so we can't magnetize the jump packs anymore.

Doesn't exactly work like that. My brother for example owns a 10000 dark angels army. 3000 pts of it is deathwing terminators and %70 of them are from third edition. Imagine his face when the fifth edition hit and terminators had to be put on larger bases. Correct me if I am wrong. And I do want to be wrong in this instance.

The official GW tournament rules used to be that the model needs to be on the base it came with, which means practically, that a model could be placed on any base it has ever come with.

But... official GW tournaments no longer exist.

So, now, the answers are...

  • At a tournament you can put a model on any base the tournament organizer allows.
  • At a friendly game, you can put a model on any base that your buddy will let you get away with.

So I'm afraid it's not so simple anymore, if it ever really was.

We're getting close brothers!

from what I understand all the existing BA specific boxes are also getting updated to the new style: (SG, DC, Baal, Dread).  Though, I do believe sources saying BAs are getting a new Terminator box.

I believe BA have 1 vehicle and another "marine" box in this release.  but its a very small release, 3 kits total...4 if you count the "campaign" box with the captain.  And they are saying no Mephiston LOW, that that's just internet wish-listing run rampant.  (Which, I had fallen victim to myself...too many voices)

Take it for what its worth, though, cause none of my sources had the tyranid release.

I'm fine with 3 kits. Just make one of them a tank cheaper than a Land Raider with assault ramps!

If we get Tactical Grav...would this mean we get Centurians?

I'd like to think not. Whilst there is cross-over in the Marine books, Centurions for me just don't feel IX Legion. I actually don't mind the models and I've seen some painted up as Blood Angels (and I've also seen them tear through my Marines at times), but if we were to get "generic" stuff I'd prefer to see general Grav and the Talon. Everything else should be off-limits.

I agree wholeheartedly! I hate Centurions so much that I could never have them! But I used to be the same about flyers! They're not so hard to crack and once you do there ain't a lot left to your opponent (in a 1500 - 1850 anyway)

Imagine...

I haven't rebased my 2e Terminators and I sure as hell won't rebase my 3e Death Company.

I don't think anyone is going to force you.

I welcome the option as some models like assault marines and genestealers are difficult to use on standard 25 mm bases.

I've battled guys in the past who've had 30 mm (whatever) bases glued underneath their termis on 25mm bases. Gives em better LOS!!

It depends really. For example, I have my old Terminators on their 25mm base and I've put them on top of 40mm bases. What this does is means I can field them with the new Terminators as it makes uniform bases and makes the terminators the same height as each other (the old terminators were smaller than the current ones).
