Started working on a fluff Idea for my 51st company today. A raptor Talon within the company called the Terror Spawn.

The idea is that a Librarian leads them and with his help they create chaos spawn and cage them.(I don't think chaos spawn can actually be controlled?)

The Terror Spawn are always sent to cut off the head of whatever defense a planet or whatever is mounting. So they unleash the spawn to charge directly inspiring fear and they attack from the flanks causing terror and devastation.

Wondering what you though of this list for a small 1k game. (Claws of the black hunt are not available to use here as they are used on the company leader and these guys will be used along side them in larger games.)

Murder Talon:

Core:
Raptor Talon

Raptor Lord: Scourging chains,Power Sword, Sigil and melta bombs: 120pts

Raptors x 5: 2 x melta guns, melta bombs :120pts
Raptors x 5: 2 x melta guns, melta bombs :120pts
Raptors x 5: 2 x melta guns, melta bombs :120pts

Command:
Lord of the legion: Sorceror: Force sword,ml 3 melta bombs, sigil jump pack: 150pts
Lord of the legion: Chaos Lord:Aura of dark glory, jump pack, vox daemonicus :130pts

Aux:
Spawn x 4
Spawn x 4

What do you think? Will I get absolutely decimated against other armies or will it be fun to play?

So with the release of shadow war has anyone thought about doing a first claw kill team? How would you equip everyone, marks, etc.

I did think about it, but tehre's no evisceratr, so that's kinda dead in the water before it swam.... :(

Not sure what your battle plan is here, so it might help if you include that. To me, it seems weird to take the raptor talon in MSU with meltas, as the whole point of that formation is to deep strike and assault in turn two. Also, you know how I feel about sorcerers (not from a fluff, but from a crunch point of view) in low numbers and in low points games but if that's your thang, go for it.

Hail Brothers,

Suffering from Power armour fatigue still and have yet to carry on painting my Force, yet a ray of hope as my Club is preparing for a Shadow War tournament next month and although I won't take part it has prompted me to at least pick out some Raptors to finish for Operatives to go with my Terror Chosen Squad Kill team.

Anyone else feeling SW:A has a more NL raid feel? Nice and personal with your victims.

Just in to answer some questions.

Yeah, Flint is on a break at the moment. And while me and IP can edit the front page it's a daunting task for us to keep all the legion community thread OPs continuously updated with warbands and such as well as moderating this place and others.

I'm currently thinking about having a somewhat more...central place...for warband listing, like maybe the resource thread? It's on our to-do list.

We'll see how it turns out in the end, keep on truckin'! I see some really nice models in here, keep up the good work!

The above sounds good to me.

Thanks for popping in to answer some questions Excessus!

To my Brothers of the VIII I have updated my blog thread (see signature) and im afraid ive included Daemon activity...I hope this taint doesn't spread or my Lords days are numbered.

-Noctem

@Noctem Cultor: Ready for Sinner's Gauntlets?

They are for another project I swear!

I barely know them or anything, it's not like we made an official pact or anything!

But in all seriousness I couldn't field any Daemon other than Furies (Enslaved by my Raptors of course) with my Night Lords I'm too fluffy a player/collector.

That is spoken as a true son of the Eigth Legion. ^^

Hi Sorry for the late reply there Augustus, Was away from computer for a few days.

Don't really have a battle plan, Charge up with spawn. Melta anything large and charge when it's opportune for me! Sorcerer would buff squads mainly.

I actually think the MSU raptor talon with melta is the only way to run it. Deep striking is just too unreliable to sink in points for large cc squads! I honestly cannot see it being viable without deep strike mitigation.

Also guys, this is Voruun Fux Captain of the Architects of Atrocity 51st Company!

Voruun Fux looks great! How many Fux does he give? Incidentally: are you yet to drill out his gun barrels? That trophy contraption on the back is a very cool detail, and I love that head on the wheel spike! :biggrin.::thumbsup:

Without a battle plan, your army is pretty much doomed, no? :smile.: I'm going to be brutally honest here, but I don't understand your list:

-I agree with your analysis of the raptor talon's efficacy. But seeing as you kitted them out as shooty unit: if they're there to shoot melta, isn't it better to get bikers instead? They're only a few points more expensive, but much more survivable with their T5 and possibility to Jink, plus they always have hammer of wrath...

-I think your army will struggle in Maelstrom missions due to the lack of ObSec, though

-You say that the sorcerer is there to buff squads. But how? Which psychic disciplines are you going for - and how will they synchronize with the rest of the army?

- What is your Lord's purpose? He has no CC power whatsoever, and the Vox Daemonicus is useless - you're not going into combat (neither your Raptors nor your Command characters are kitted out as such) so why take a 30 point buff that synchronzies with Fear - a rule you don't seem to be going to benefit from?

You need to make a choice with this list style: are you going for a shooty army or are you going for a combat army? I get that you want to go for raptors, as they're considered fluffy for Night Lords. But why not give them ObSec by running them as Troops in a CAD?

He gives exactly 51 fux haha! Yes it is on my agenda, I have to buy a good drill for it. My plan was to do all the drilling and basing at the very very end of an 1850 point list I'm building! Thanks for the kind words man. I've seen your stuff and I hope to be as good as that one day! Your Night lords contempter dreadnoughts are unbelievable I wish I could get my lightning to look like that as apposed to fat and chalky :P

As for the raptor talon, It was a fluff list that I didn't put much thought into! But I am going to change it to a combined arms detachment. I have bikes in my 1850 army!

Do you think the Scourging chains and the power sword on the lord is bad?  I figured it was cheaper lighting claws

@Dardl - a quick time saver on drilling. No need for a fancy drill, nor even a pin vice....... just buy a small pack of 1mm drill bits and plastic rod. Push a drill bit into the rod with Green Stuff and your gun barrels will soon be fixed.

That's some great gore package on the bike!

@ Dardle: That's a good point about the power sword with scouring chains! Saves five points :)

@ Psykic_scribe: Wait what? I don't understand your short explanation, but it sounds intriguing. Care to elaborate? :tu:

Sounds like a jury rigged drill. Put the bit into a small rod and use green stuff to seal it in. If done properly, might be strong enough to use on minis, but still weak enough that when the bit goes dull, you can change it out for a new one.

I think.

Thanks for the attempt, but that didn't really help. A picture would greatly aid here, I think....

"I'm Kryvan, The Descendant, of the 48th Company 'Dread Ascension' of the Mighty VIII Legion

I would like to claim my Rightful Place among my Midnight Clad Brothers. Dishonored and Fatherless, yet Unyielding we stand in the gloom of Emperor's Light. Ours was the Night, and Ours it shall be once again. Ave Dominus Nox!"

Also I wrote small backstory for my Company, you can see it here:
http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/topic/332965-night-lords-48th-company-dread-ascension/

I'm building 30k and 40k simultaneously, although more focused on 30k atm as the rules IMO allow more varied armylists than 40k.

P.S. Sorry if this message was out-of-place, I understood that I should claim a spot this way :P

@Ghorgul - Hi welcome to the skinning pits to join in the fun.  You have posted in the right place, but only the moderators can update the posted Company List and they are a bit pushed for time across the various legions/forums, so please be patient.  For ease of their cut-and-paste, I have phrased the entry as:

48th Company - Dread Ascension - Commanded by Kryvan the Descendant  - Ghorgul

Hope this meets your expectation.

@Kol Saresk - yes, you have explained int well.

@Augi and Dardl - photos to follow soon.

This is more than satisfactory, thank you very much!
