We don't know whether Chaos will be the first tho lol

All we know is that all factions will get a re-work at launch and then Deathguard (and maybe another new faction...which i still doubt) gets released. So while Deathguard are technically Chaos and thus first...they aren't exactly CSM. That one will come later eventually.

Actually Brothers I will moderate a bit my own enthusiasm even though, as a 2nd Ed. Veteran I read a damn lot of good points.

The official leaks are really interesting and the basic mechanics look good. Yet they are just that: basic mechanics. In their comments, GW suggest that there will be exceptions, special rules. Therefore, because the future rulebook will only be 12 pages, those exceptions will be in the Codices and consequently I want to remain cautious and wait for the whole package to see the layer of exceptions and how they will affect the basic schemes.

You mean datasheets. Free unit datasheets. Codices will be able to be updated constantly, so they move with the meta instead of being overtaken by it. So even though Chaos will once again be the first army (re)released, this time we won't suffer from it in later stages of the edition, like we have from 3d onwards.

Well, I mean, technically GW never had codices. They paid for the trademark of "Codexes" so everything is in Codexes. If you want to be technically bureaucratic about it. :P

But yeah, I dunno. AoS only had free datasheets and battletomes until they had enough "printed" battletomes to just do away with them I guess. So we'll see something like that for the first six months I think is what AoS did.

Wait so AOS don't use free data sheets anymore? Do you have to purchase paper books now to play it?

Nah, the datasheets are still free but they also have something like codices you have to buy afaik.

Well, the article got posted, but not the facebook post. At least, not in this thread I don't think.

Also, thanks for showing where the downloads are. I kept going to rules and the warhammer digital website and I was finding nothing so I thought they had done away with it. Good to know they haven't. Although, with the datasheets right there, and digital battletomes, I wonder how long until hard-paper rules become a thing of the past since those always require FAQs to either be printed or saved to a mobile device anyways.

At least with a digital rulebook they can just patch in the FAQs as an update and then just post a summary online so you're aware what's new.

I guess that this maybe is discussed on other thread(s) but, since we can now charge after DS -even with terminators!- how do feel about Warp Talons now?

Wondering if they keep their blind rule and if so, how many inches will it affect (they need to be greater than 9" when DSing).

It would certainly help me choose them! I have a box of raptors there that I haven't decided to make them raptors or warp talons yet. I'm thinking of taking a chance on warp talons.

The problem is GW could do something silly like INCREASE their points.

I've been dragging my warp talons along through 7th because I love the models. I really hope that they find some better use than overpriced-invuln-save-ablative-wounds for my Jump Lord.

It would be super cool if their deep strike equivalent rule allows for them to be placed at a closer range than 9" vs a target unit chosen before the start of the game.

lol, those posers...

Yeah. I'll worry about it when GW starts making them all Jump Pack troops. Then we'll know they're scavenging the VIIIth. Until then, we have FW, where we're treated like an actual Legion. B)

Sorry for the double post dudes but I'm going to be swinging on into my first game of 8th soonish and I've got a preliminary list I need my fellow lords of the night to have a butchers over.

I'm using my heresy era dudes for the largely uncorrupted look (except the raptors because I converted them to destroyers and I have to proxy Volkite as bolters but still)

95 power or 1734pts

Termi-lord: combi-bolter +power axe

Sorceror: bolt pistol + force sword

2x10csm: bolt pistols + ccw 2x power sword

1x10csm: bolters 1x power sword

5x terminators: 4x combiplas 1x reaper 5x power axe

5x chosen: 5xcombi plas 1x power fist

Rhino: combi bolter

Dreadbrute: plasma cannon + scourge

Predator: autocannon + Lascannon sponsons

10xraptors: 2 plasma guns 1x power fist

Gimme the shimmy, 40k isn't my usual battleground really, but I can't let the loyalists have a cakewalk

That sorc needs a jump pack if possible, to drop with the termies and cast warptime. Or you can otherwise mark them as <Khorne> and give them the Icon of Wrath (trophies?) to allow them to re-roll the charge when needed.

With only one rhino, which I guess may be for the chosen, your infantry may suffer. May I suggest to merge the 2x10 into a 1x20 and make them zerkers? I know NL shouldn't be worshipping any gods, but hey, Terror Troops ^_^

Also, for the looks of that sicaran, if you have more FW heresy era goodies, that may help a lot, since much of the FW chaos stuff is golden. Leviathans, deredeos, rapiers, scorpius...

Ah well the sorceror was going to ride with the chosen and use prescience. Because I have a thing for that power (it does me good in heresy oh how it does me good), and the bonus to hit combined with chucking out plasma would be beneficial I feel?

As for the FW stuff, I have inquired with my local store to see if he's cool with it, else the pred would've been my regular sicaran and the dread would've been my dual fist contemptor, so I'm primed and ready to swap.

As for the zerkers, would that not affect my battleforged chart? 2hq and 3troops gets me that thing with the most CP
