HLVW
Hello BrothersI am pretty new to the game and the Templar. I started a Elysian army just to paint about a year ago, but saw the light and kicked off a Templar army that I hope to be able to play. The idea for this thread is mainly WIP, and a painting log to help me stay motivated and get some insight from my fellow brothers in the Eternal Crusade. My crusade thus far has about 80 or so marines that I am working on at the moment. The Nemesis Crusade. I haven't quite come up with all the fluff yet but the gist is High Marshal Helbrecht is still a little sore at Imotehk the Storm lord for reminding him that they were now even in duels, and has since then dispatched Marshal Adonis and steadily increasing crusade to track the storm lord and cleans anything along the way. That's the gist for now anyway. So here are some of the crusaders I have on the go right now. Partial Army shot with half finished conversions. Terminator Chaplin Tiberius Crusader Squad with Sword Brother Grimaldus Sword Brethren TerminatorsHope you like, and comments and critique would be greatly appreciated.HLVW Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286601-the-nemesis-crusade-oath-complete/ Share on other sites
Marshal_Roujakis
Pretty Darn good conversions there brother, I especially like the Assault Terminators! They're really good! Can't wait to see more and Welcome to the Eternal Crusade! No Witches! No Xenos! No Heretic! No Pity! No Remorse! NO FEAR! Honda
Welcome to the Eternal Crusade Brother! I must say that I am extremely impressed with your painting, I love your subtle contrasts, it is a style I greatly admire. Also, the conversion on your terminator chaplain is straightforward, but visually very attractive. Well done. Please do continue sharing your work, we can all be inspired by such. Cheers, P.S. I have an Elysian army as well. Thematically, they work very well as allies to Templars in an Armageddon associated crusade. HLVW
Thank you for the comments. At the moment I'm just finishing up my Emperors champion and starting to do up some robes for Marshal Adonis. Hopefully I will either have them posted tonight or tomorrow. Tekman
Nice work on the hammernators, greenstuffed the legs or did you use DA bits and bobs? HLVW
@ CM Furious, I am originally from Burlington, but moved to Manitoba due to work. @ Marshall Mattias, Thanks @ Tekman, All the Termies are from the normal assault Termie box, I think I may have used some DA heads, but scraped off the wings from their iconography. I did all the robes for the entire crusade using Magic sculpt, kind of like green stuff but so much nicer to work with. Emperors Champion Seraph joins the Crusade Work continues on Marshal Adonis I am planning on magnetising the arms just so I can have a nice verity of weapon choices. Hope you enjoy, again C&C is always welcome. Marshal_Roujakis
Awesome work with the modelling putty as well! I tried my hand at making similar stuff to that, but the only thing I have been capable of doing so far are capes :p I also magnetized the weapon arms of my TDA, and just a few opinion on which weapon options you should definitely have. According to rank: Storm Shield (doubles as Shield Eternal) Thunder Hammer Power Claw (a pair if available) Teeth of Terra (so you could throw this guy at a mob even without his Honour Guard and come out unscathed) Power Weapon (sword/maul/axe) Storm Bolter Burning Blade Primarch's Wrath Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286601-the-nemesis-crusade-oath-complete/#findComment-3590121 Share on other sites
HLVW
@ Marshal Roujakis, If you could clarify for me what TDA means, I get the general understanding but don't know what it stands for. I've tried the abbreviations page which does not seem to work. As for the weapon options I didn't know he would have that many options, I think I might try them all lol. Primarily though I'm thinking TH and SS. Just a quick Update to the crusade, I finished painting my Master of Sanctity, and LRC as a glorious relief from painting High Marshal Helbrecht. I don't know what it is, he is just driving me nuts, to the point of just wanting to toss the model across the room. So instead, and a much more healthy solution was to finish these other two projects and then go back to the High Marshal. First LRC of many I hope. Master of Sanctity Tiberius The High Marshal to follow soon, I hope. Marshal_Roujakis
I think the issue comes when painting faces, sure its easy enough to paint helmeted heads but its another to get skin tones and if you're keen to it, eyeballs. I've seen a lot of people rage when it comes to painting high decal, or really important looking miniatures. And I have seen a $102 (AuD) Marneus Calgar model (not mine) fly to the wall just because the molding wasn't good... :p Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/286601-the-nemesis-crusade-oath-complete/#findComment-3595061 Share on other sites

HLVW
@Urkh, I actually feel pretty dumb now for not having thought of that, thank you though. @Marshal Roujakis, I have solved my problem and rid myself of some frustration by changing out the bare head for a helmeted one, which in the end actually works out since I think that the helmets look cooler than the bare heads. However I agree with you completely, and am sorry to hear about the Calgar model, that sucks. @Honda, thanks for the comment, Helbrechet should be done soon and put up on display. Krikey
Beautiful models -- both painting and modeling. I've not been around as much lately -- I keep missing things. These are amazing! HLVW
Hello again brothers, because of work my hobby time has drastically been cut down to nothing, however I was finally able to put the finishing touches onto the High Marshal, and managed not to throw him across the room (hazah). Other than that I've just been trying to get my Marshal finished, then it will be back to sculpting more robes for a tactical squad, ten vanguard vets and a heavy weapons team. HLVW
Thanks for the comments Brothers, truly helps me to carry on. @ Golf33, I will absolutly repost these imagaes with higher resolution, when as the common excuss goes I actually get a camera, I know, lame but at this moment all I have is my IPad. Hopefully I can borrow one from a friend. @ Dark Scipio, Thank you @ Brother Achiles, For the subtle greys on the armour I dry Brush codex grey then administratum gray, afterwards layer a home made wash to work with the light source. For all the other colours I use very thined down paints, layered until I cant see the base colour anymore. I hope this answers your question, I am not really sure of what some techniques are called, If you want, I can try and do up tutorial. @ Greggles, The praetor model is absolutly one of my favorites, I picked up the set from FW, but used ebay to get the helmeted CatapratII helmet, the robes are green stuff, I would absolutly recommend getting one, very cool and very detailed kit. Golf33
HLVW, I'm not an Apple person, but you might get better results with a different camera app (like the one mentioned here http://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3395239), or with a stick-on macro lens like the one reviewed here http://www.cultofmac.com/158988/hands-on-with-zoom-fisheye-wide-and-macro-lenses-for-iphone-and-ipad-reviews/ which might be cheaper than a whole camera. I actually use the camera in my HTC One, just so I can post the images here via photobucket without using a computer. I have a dedicated camera app that gives me more control over the camera for focus and exposure and it seems to be enough in most cases. HLVW
So, I managed to get my hands onto a actual camera, so I hope the picture quality goes up, if not, then I will just chalk it up to the fact that I am technologically inept. Grimaldus http://i.imgur.com/skhsssb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Aozq4Ov.jpg Emperors Champion Seraph http://i.imgur.com/KHYtsB6.jpg http://i.imgur.com/G73EkVw.jpg Marshal Adonis http://i.imgur.com/5gDsmni.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Goyvxek.jpg I'm still trying to decide on a colour for his sword, either the silver that Helbrecht has or the purple that the EC has, any suggestions? Next projects of fun http://i.imgur.com/W2zNNgd.jpg Just about ready to prime the Rhino, still cleaning the Spartan up. let me know please if the pictures got any better, if not I will try again.
